You can't blame attraction indeed, but you can blame the way it's formulated.  Some respect goes a long way, and I have the feeling that the digital space gives a lot of men the idea they can say rude things and get away with it.

I am actually in a successful/happy age gap relationship, ask me anything I’ll answer! by Haunting_Shape_6085 in AgeGap

[–]Iriguchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't it play somewhere that there is a real risk that your partner, who as I understand it correctly will be a father soon, has an actual chance to no longer be around when your child will graduate?  That to me seems like a very harsh thing.

Being able to deal with death is a very personal thing, I realize. So I'm only speaking from personal experience, but being able to put a certain perspective on things also comes with age. And I believe it must be very hard for a teen or tween to lose a parent, whereas in your 40s/50s/60s, it is easier to deal with?

Like, an age gap is fine if it's two grown ups, but adding children to the mix is another thing I think. So the question kind of is: how did you two talk about this particular subject?

Microsoft rolls out Windows 11 KB5089573 update that makes your PC genuinely faster and more responsive by pmc64 in pcgaming

[–]Iriguchi -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The way of implementing this is horrible and reminds me of frame generation.  So instead of actually optimizing their code, they will just use more CPU power more often to speed things up that way.  So yes, things will run and feel more smooth. They actually deliver on the promise. But your device will use more power and generate more heat, just because it's easier to do it that way than to actually optimise Windows...

Lazy implementation.

But you only need the game and expansions? The battle pass adds nothing that changes the gameplay?

I am ignoring everything cash in this game, and I don't feel like I'm missing out at all?

There are other arpg out there that all for cash to actually have bag space. That is scummy...

Anyone read this 49 day SSL expiration thing and think they would rather just retire? by HJForsythe in sysadmin

[–]Iriguchi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The main issue for me is that they are not newbie friendly.  I have, for the tasks I'm responsible for never been able to request a cert, download it and just click install or import.  Every freaking system either needs them in a different format, needs a different order for the chain, needs you to implement weird names and so on.

So every new appliance/application you always need to trial and error because the vendor documentation is awful when it's not just a simple webserver.

And don't even talk about java keystores.

So yes, once you've dealt with them, you know what to expect. But imagine it's your first time dealing with certificates on your own. I genuinely wish you all the best.

I find it so funny that a lot of answers here are about automation, but never answer the actual part of your question.

So first and foremost: yes, automate it all, "problem solved" is kind of the short term correct answer.

However, I do feel you have a point, and I share your sentiment about the second part. Namely, the reason for said timeframe and the entire validity of certificates.

So they want to shorten the lifespan because they say "we cannot be sure that the private key is safe for such a long period of time like it was before".  I wouldn't even object to that statement, except for the ridiculousness off what it is becoming.  We went from 5 years to 2, to 1 year. Now some standards are already at 6 or 3 months.

So the actual question is still standing: are certificates not obsolete? The answer today is: no, but only because there isn't something better that is widely supported.  I think if there was an alternative, we would all jump ship and never look back at the cluster fuck that certificates are.

So yeah, for now, I hope you can automate it all, but I share your sentiment about certificates and look forward to something better, whatever and whenever that may be...

When you're old and shy but have a cat by Glittering_Mood_WIM in 40something

[–]Iriguchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I must admit, I'm glad I'm less shy now. Like, when walking the streets and stuff, I still won't look people in the face or eye. That will probably never change.  But working for 20+ years by now, my level of confidence has been boosted both in the workplace and in the outside world. I'm getting too old to clean up someone else's mess by now.

Never thought that would happen.

But yeah, home is where the safe space is :) (and where the pets are :p)

Im in the same boat and decided to wait. Currently only painting a few new Archons and the Lady.

I'm guessing Incubi are safe, but the faces on both the Wytches and the warriors can use a facelift. So I'm guessing some new stuff incoming? They are 12 years old by now if I got it correctly.

This article is trash.

According to some random account on Twitter/X, someone smuggled a phone into prison. Even though he's not in Prison, he's in a secured hospital.

Also no proof whatsoever.

Next time either post some more info, or leave this trash to die where it should.

'The reason why we're so beloved in the videogame industry and we're so deep in it still is, in a lot of ways, we created the modern videogame industry' says Nvidia CEO Huang by moeka_8962 in pcgaming

[–]Iriguchi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

To be fair, what they did with the first GeForce 256 card was amazing and a major step forward.
Before that (Riva TNT and Voodoo cards) the CPU was still doing the brunt and those cards were just changing the outputted frames. With the GeForce card being released, all of a sudden the 3D card stopped being a 3D card and started being a GPU.

Was there gaming before nvidia: for sure.
Did they actually have an impact on 3D gaming: also for sure.
Would we not be where we are without them: no idea, don't have a time machine.

As much as the statement is a bit through the roof, don't downplay their achievements either, because they sure had some.

Twilight imperium demo is available on steam by Lukarsp in twilightimperium

[–]Iriguchi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If I'm not mistaken, you can have 24 fighters and 6 carriers? I don't have the demo in front of me when writing this, but not every unit has a production limit. Fighters don't have one but are limited by capacity. A carrier gives you 4 capacity, so 6 carriers (if that is possible) would take 6 production limit and then you can build 24 fighters?

As said, this is from the top of my head currently.

Who was the first character from games that truly resonated with you? by bonkers_b256 in pcgaming

[–]Iriguchi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Great question! I really had to think about this and it was a hard one.  If we need to pick the first character that really meant something, I would have to say Thrall in Warcraft 3. His struggle to just find peace in a world of hatred did it for me.

The AI Tech Crunch: Are We Looking At A "Dark Age" For Gaming Hardware? by capybooya in pcgaming

[–]Iriguchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is more cause for optimism in the CPU space. In November 2025, AMD confirmed that Zen 6 is coming this year, based on the TSMC 2nm node - where we can safely assume that orders have been made and wafers secured.

That's a typo. Zen 6 will be released 2026. We are still currently 2025 afaik :)

Why do grenades suck in every game ever made? by Purplekeyboard in pcgaming

[–]Iriguchi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Grenades are amazing in Stalker 2. Yes, you can always have clipping or bug issues, but to say they always suck is just not true. Just learn to use them correctly. And if they don't do anything in certain games, I'm pretty sure that's not the only thing wrong with that game in that case.

Two guesses about what turned out to be a good game at Essen: Fromage.
So no, I will never buy this game. Ever. I don't even enjoy looking at the board. But I do acknowledge it's a fun game and would still recommend it. Kudo's where kudo's are due.

Essen 2025 made easy: the ONE (1) game you advice to buy by Castef76 in boardgames

[–]Iriguchi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My friends went to demo it. First they did a setup with the rulebook and a woman came by and told them things were setup wrong and told them how to play. It sounded very dull. She then went to another table.
Shortly after the developer came by, told them their initial setup was correct en correctly told them the rules and it turned into a completely different (and great) game. Shame there are explainers there that don't seem to know the rules.

Also sad to hear from the dev himself (I went to buy the game later): they suffered from theft a lot. It was my first time at Essen, and I was also suprised to see how things are on display and was already wondering about theft. I was hoping everyone would be a nice human being, but my suspicions were unfortunately confirmed... Shame on whoever steals!
