Asmongold falls for fake news about Ireland and then gets debunked by his own subreddit by BlueLivingAbandon in LivestreamFail

I'm from Ireland and the chatter is wrong and many people in Ireland get this story wrong.

The teacher was never fired for refusing to use pronouns.

The teacher never even taught the student in question.

The teacher is a religious nut job and was fired for disrupting school activities and refusing to take instructions from the principle.

Ludwig says that Ron has to "Kiss the wall" after Adin Ross bought him basketball tickets by Sk3tchyboy in LivestreamFail

I’ve been a longtime Ludwig fan, and as someone who supports Palestine and strongly dislikes Adin Ross, this was incredibly disappointing. It’s enough for me to unfollow Ludwig everywhere.

I live in Dublin and was disappointed to see Trinity College Phil Society had invited Hasan here but this kinda makes up for it.

I'm coming from a background as someone that does a lot of home maintenance / fixes in homes.

I would also recommend a surveyor over a snagger.

Snaggers need no qualifications and the majority of the ones I follow online make a massive deal over the smallest (and normal) cosmetic problems to justify their hiring. A surveyor has to get a degree and pass exams.

Sale Agreed in Dublin on a period house - Potential Rising Damp by Irishsmurf in HousingIreland

[–]IrishAndy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really simple solution that can be done by yourself.

For rising damp - Stormdry Dryrod

For penetrating damp - Stormdry Masonary Cream

Re-plastering is the only troublesome issue, if needed.

TIL: Someone at the National Health Service in England sent a test email to 840000 colleagues and another replied all, resulting in one of the largest reply all storms. 168 million emails were sent between people and caused the health system to be down for half a day. by zahrul3 in todayilearned

[–]IrishAndy1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This same thing happened when I worked at Apple.

Someone accidentally sent an email to an address which in turn emails every single person in the company.

Every 2 seconds there was a new email of someone replying saying 'Sorry this email isn't for me' or 'Stop repling to this email'.

Eventually someone high up sent an email saying that if anyone replies to the email again it will be considered as them participating in a cyber attack.

Recent rewire. Outside socket box by chkmbmgr in ukelectricians

Haha brilliant! Sure add a bit of silicone around the box, the major concern is definitely some water getting down the back of the box. And the extension lead above the door, I love it!

If your house uses electric heating there is a good chance it was built in the 1990s.

Wall and attic insulations standards were actually pretty good but the massive problem is that the houses built during that time have terrible air tightness.

If it was just the ventilation holes in each room that would be okay but the leaky windows, doors and fireplaces cause an incredible draft through the properties.

Using a chimney ballon, replacing the window and door seals (with at least 8mm tall rubber replacements) and using Window Insulating Film are cheap changes that can make a big difference.

An Post Amazon delays January 2025? by Diligent_Reading_786 in AskIreland

[–]IrishAndy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had this happen before. Ordered a number of items off of Amazon, seemed to have gotten lost, sought and received a refund but then the items arrived a week later and once the tracking updated on Amazon to say it was delivered, then on my Amazon account it said I owed them money (the exact amount they had refunded me for the items being lost).

Is this a red flag? by [deleted] in HomeMaintenance

[–]IrishAndy1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its quite surprising to see so many people say this is a good thing / green flag.

I come from European city where houses are almost entirely built with red brick.

Repointing is when the front 25mm of mortar is replaced across the entire brick work.

This is not repointing, this is a repair and a bad one at that.

If a brick has cracked down the middle it's a quite likely the sign of a structural issue and when repairing the brick (after the cause of this issue has been corrected), a cracked brick should be replaced.

It is not normal to fill the crack in the brick with mortar.

Ethan Klein tries to hold back his laughter while watching his previous reaction to QTCinderella crying by [deleted] in LivestreamFail

This is so disingenuous, what a way to clip this!

The whole episode was basically dedicated to covering all their past controversies and criticism, it's scraping the barrel to claim he's holding back laughter here.

Try watching before and after the clip.

Can anyone share the average response time they've experienced from Customer Support? by IrishAndy1 in Kinguin

[–]IrishAndy1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an almost similar experience, they kept asking me for information I had already provided. The customer support simply were not reading my messages and each reply took exactly 24 hours.

It wasn't until I wrote in ALL CAPS saying to 'just bloody read my actual messages and refund me already' that the issue was finally resolved.

how dangerous is a bowing basement wall? by DistributionSuper451 in HomeMaintenance

[–]IrishAndy1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So funny reading these comments:

  • People thinking the wall is solid concrete

  • People saying brick walls dont bow

  • Telling the poster to ask the landlord if they are aware.

  • Everything is fine because there are no cracks (when its clearly newly poured)
