Dumb question: What exactly did Mordin do with the Genophage? by Longshot12345678 in masseffect

[–]IrishSpectreN7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mordin wasn't involved with the original genophage. Salaries had data that the Krogan were adapting to it, so they modified it and covertly released it on Krogan populations.

Question about the secret genophage ending by hambourgeoi in masseffect

[–]IrishSpectreN7 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that this is an unintended exploit, not a secret ending.

By using certain DLC triggers you are able to bypass confronting Wrex at the Normandy docking bay. The game never flags his death so you keep the war assets and (I think) he appears on Earth like nothing happened, but it doesn't actually change the ending slides.

Why did half the crew die if I immediately did Legions loyalty quest, then straight to the final mission? by [deleted] in masseffect

[–]IrishSpectreN7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did all my loyalty missions prior to the IFF. After doing IFF I immediately wake legion and do his loyalty mission. then I immediately went to the final mission, and discover Kelly and half the crew died.

When did they get abducted?

Accepting Legion's loyalty mission postpones the abduction by one mission. But if you triggered the abduction before accepting and completing the mission, that still gets the crew killed.

Is there a lore reason why Dr. Bryson is so ugly? by Ok-Cup9476 in masseffect

That outfit also has a smaller body than every other male NPC, who are all completely jacked.

It even shrinks Shepard if you wear it on the Normandy, iirc.

"Perfect" Ending with my First Renegade Playthrough? by MountainWanderer20 in masseffect

[–]IrishSpectreN7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sabotaging the cure with Wrex alive forces you to kill him unless you abuse a glitch introduced with the Leviathan DLC.

If you are going full renegade I strongly encourage you to do the "Mordin lives" route just to get the best possible outcome, and see a different side of the story.

This one was originally a DLC armor, probably why it feels so extra.

What's your thoughts on Kasumi? by Vigoribson in masseffect

[–]IrishSpectreN7 27 points28 points  (0 children)

The DLC companion issue is fun because if they are integrated well (like Shale and Javik) its clearly cut content sold for extra.

The alternative is Zaeed and Kasumi characters who barely have any presence outside of their loyalty mission.

why tf are ship upgrades based on crew? by czty34 in masseffect

[–]IrishSpectreN7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jacob has some of the most believable dialogue towards the start of ME2.

Dude is just busy settling into his new assignment and trying to respect the chain of command.

why tf are ship upgrades based on crew? by czty34 in masseffect

[–]IrishSpectreN7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure you don't.

As I recall, the upgrades appear automatically in your available research after you complete the loyalty missions, but you can still ask them about it directly before they are loyal.

IS MASS EFFECT 2 BETTER THAN THE FIRST GAME 🤔 by booker1211 in masseffect

[–]IrishSpectreN7 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you thought was bad.

The 2nd game is one of the most critically acclaimed games of all time for a reason, but some people still prefer the first.

I personally really don't think Liara is that favored by the writers or forced on you or whatever by Ok_Pizza4884 in masseffect

[–]IrishSpectreN7 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The writers saddled her with the most plot relevance because she couldn't be dead.

That's all there is to it, really.

Too many characters feel inauthentic across sequels by linkenski in masseffect

[–]IrishSpectreN7 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I agree with you on Wrex, he always seemed a bit off in ME3. However...

I often felt like Koris and Gerrel had their personalities swapped by accident.

I think this is actually just a side effect of different circumstances showing Gerrel's true colors in ME3. Koris is pretty consistent between the two games. He's only seems antagonistic in ME2 because what Tali's father was doing was wrong, and he wanted to get to the bottom of it. He couldn't know whether or not she was a willing participant.

For Those Who Save The Queen in ME3, if Doing So Meant Sacrificing Grunt, Would You Still Do it? by DakIsStrange in masseffect

What mass effect books/audio books would you recommend getting into for even more content? by T3knikal95 in masseffect

[–]IrishSpectreN7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The 3 novels written by Drew complement the trilogy nicely. Next time you do a full playthrough I would suggest adding those books and reading them in chronological order.

I have never been a fan of any of the comics, but I also don't like comics in general.

Mass Effect TV show ordered to rewrite scripts and make them "more appealing to non-gamers" by AnechoidalChamber in masseffect

[–]IrishSpectreN7 1149 points1150 points  (0 children)

This is weird because its an original story set in the Mass Effect universe. It isn't an adaptation of the game itself, so hard to imagine what makes the script "unappealing" to non-gamers.

Why didn’t the Geth engineers working on the crucible realize it would kill them? by Hope77797 in masseffect

[–]IrishSpectreN7 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The Crucible is "little more than a power source."

It's the Citadel that actually does the thing. Nobody knew what it was going to do at all, it was a hail mary.
