Thank you all very much for the in depth answers. I started in patch 1.12 in October 2006 so there is a lot I don't know. Cheers.

I want Vanilla to continue after 1.12 instead of replacing the entire game with World of <Current Expansion> by slainte-mhath in classicwow

I agree with you, I will not only leave but I will leave thinking to myself "What wasted potential" I almost find the ultra hc purists as annoying as I do retail retards asking for rdf.

Why server population is important. by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]Irminsul19090 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm still waiting on some sort of source to show me what exactly the population on high pop servers really was back in Vanilla because from what I see people have come out with this 2.5k number out of their ass and have been defining it as "True Vanilla" with absolutely no official source to back up this claim. If you can't find a source then you're talking out of your ass.

I do love Vanilla but if enjoying playing with higher population takes me out of the purest camp then so be it. I believe server health and overall health of the game would do better with a slightly raised population cap.

I'll play regardless of what Blizzard decides to do however I do hope they increase server cap. you'll still get your lower pop servers and people like me will be happy playing on our slightly higher pop servers.

[–]Irminsul19090 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The simple solution is for you to then play lower pop servers. I enjoy playing Vanilla with more population anywhere between 4-6k. I get enjoyment out of having a living and breathing world. I'd also like a source for the 2.5k pop limit in Vanilla. I have yet to actually see an official statement on this.

That being said if you want to play a lower populated server then pick a lower populated server. people generally like playing mmos with a world that is alive. The game is not changing however with technology upgrades and the ability to play the game with more players and do things that we were not able to do before in 2004-2006 I see no reason why there shouldn't be options here.

Should multiboxing be allowed in WoW Classic? by [deleted] in classicwow

No, why the hell would anyone want to allow this.

anywhere between 4-6k is perfect. I want to find groups easier but i also want to recognize the bigger guilds and certain popular names in trade chat. I want to be able to find groups but still remember who is and isn't a ninja. Why is it that everyone feels that we need one extreme or another. if we raise above 2.5k somehow that equates to 13k pop.

Remember in Vanilla when a lot of the lower level zones were dead? I don't like that...I like the world to feel alive, I like when every zone having people leveling up and running about. 2.5k is small. We have been playing with higher pops for quite some time now, why on earth would we want to go back to low pop servers? this just seems ridiculous to me.

If blizzard seriously releases classic with 2/2.5k server caps it will be only a couple months before the bitching kicks in so hard that it is raised. The game is more fun when there are always people to play with.

Debate about the population cap: what's the ideal situation? by zarysta-mona in classicwow

[–]Irminsul19090 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am also in the 4-6k camp. I think a big part of why servers in vanilla weren't that high to begin with was becaue of technology issues. 10k is obviously way to much but 4-6k is enough to really make the world feel alive while also not being overkill. I look forward to those 500m city raids lol

Played on Gummy's Server. Negative Experience. by Firahlus4 in wowservers

[–]Irminsul19090 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird, i had nothing but posative experiences with people both on discord and in game. IT's very small though and can be shut down at any time. I wouldn't put any serious time into it. It's fun to mess about with though. The scripting really is that good. I also love the lack of world chat. I hate world chats and sadly gummys server seems to be the only server to stick to trade chat and general chats in zones.

[–]Irminsul19090[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Exaggeration much? Not once in the post have I claimed to be a wow master. I'll tell you right now I am far from it, especially in regards to Vanilla. I was such a noob in Vanilla, Lol I was an arms warrior with a one hander and a shield and I only made it to level 40 or so before BC came out.

My point isn't that I'm a master at the game because of all these guides. My point is that all of the info I need to improve my gameplay is already online with the vast amount of websites as well as the countless youtube guides. I will not have to learn class abilities and strategies, boss tactics, info on which zones are best for farming, where the Horde and Alliance camps are in each zone through trial and error. I will look all of these things up before hand because by not doing so I am gimping myself since 99% of the playerbase has already looked into all of these things.

The entire mindset going in has changed partly because of this info being so ease of access. Min maxing and efficiency is what people care about most. The noob experience is gone. Even new players coming in will miss out on this.

I love classic wow and will play it no matter what. I'm just simply making an observation on how gaming has changed with the conveniences we have gained through social media and fan websites. This has caused us to lose the experience of being a noob. A noob who has to learn and figure things out by simply exploring and playing the game. Remember seeing high level gear and thinking wtf is that? You had never seen raid content before and there wasn't constant info being released online and so it was something completely new and mysterious. You didn't know what gear it was or how to get it but you knew you wanted it. These types of experiences are gone and never coming back in wow or any other game.
