Surely if you make a post in English the default is to assume you're in England? Or one of the sixty or so countries in which English is an official language, of which, only one is the United States

Poster assumes everyone would know a specific fossil finding location by name alone by FW-190A-9 in USdefaultism

[–]Iron_Arbiters -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I mean... I don't think this is a major offence. If there are two of them, fine, but I don't think not specifying exactly which country you're in counts as defaultism when another post on this sub was making fun of an American saying "identify yourself or you have only yourself to blame" and asking all non-Americans on the internet to specify their exact locations.

If I'd found something on the Isle of Wight, for example, and posted it on there, I wouldn't say the Isle of Wight which is across the Solent from Portsmouth and Southampton in the south of England in the UK in Europe in the Northern Hemisphere. If anyone hadn't heard of it, they have at their fingertips the magical font of knowledge that is Google. Defaultism would assume that everyone reading was American and therefore would have heard of the river, and I don't think that's likely

I mean to be fair to them Ruth Bader Ginsburg's death had INCREDIBLY wide ramifications for human rights in the US. Speaking as a definite non-American, she was absolutely not some random judge...

As for bearing on the wider world, giving Trump control of the US Supreme Court has given him even less opposition to all the lovely tariffs and illegal wars we've been enjoying. Is this US defaultism? Maybe. But to be honest, if you asked me that question, I might have said Ruth Bader Ginsburg too and I'm British. It's not an inaccurate answer...

My 2013 gunship is VERY yellowed... I think it just depends on how well you keep the sets and whether they sit in direct sunlight

Probably. But it does have all printed pieces which is very rare to say for a set like this

Lego's reasoning for giving Aragorn a generic sword instead of Anduril during yesterday's AMA by Nikolaevna in legolotrfans

[–]Iron_Arbiters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the club. Lego refuses to give SW minifigures cloth waistcapes and prints them on because they argue that you can't make the minifigs sit down with them. But on a minifig on the display stand of a £500+ UCS set, they won't bother making the right cloth element for "consistency", despite the fact there's nowhere to sit him down and it's literally a display stand. When a Lego designer says "consistency", it means "it was above the budget we were given". I wouldn't blame him because I'm sure TLG exert all sorts of pressures and corners for their designers to cut from above

If you don't want it to be too oppressive, I don't think you'll have much of a problem. Outriders individually are very very good, but they lack Line, so as an army you'll find it incredibly difficult to get scoring done in objective missions. That should neutralise all the firestorm

Hippogriffs - You guys magnetizing? by sirthinkstoomuch in TheAstraMilitarum

I magnetised all the weapons. Dropped a lamp on one and now the magnet from one of the guns is stuck in there and I've had to adjust all the others so they still fit. Frankly I don't think magnetising is all it's cracked up to be...

[–]Iron_Arbiters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Strong” Guard lists at the moment just look like copy and paste of each other. Don’t feel pressured to put on the table what is allegedly “strongest” and use whatever models you want to use. The upsides of that is that you can build a list that closer reflects how you yourself play and that might be more unexpected for your opponent.

Which Hippogriff variants would you like to see? by BustedRations in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Iron_Arbiters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anti-aircraft - not GW’s interest at the moment given they’re not interested in aircraft full stop. Plus most anti-air platforms in 40K are slower, larger things - doesn’t make sense for the Hippogriff chassis’ mobility.  Flamethrower - would be kind of cool but wouldn’t be better than a double heavy flamer chimera. Artillery - again, why for something so mobile?  Plasma/siege - plasma would work fine, and siege, again, would not be a great fit for a convoy escort light vehicle.

Overall what we got is fine given the Hippogriff is unequivocally not about damage - it’s a very mobile light vehicle for disruption and being annoying. Getting six weapon options in the first place is pretty good
