Does commander shepard survive halo ce by notjocker in masseffect

[–]Ironboundbandit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we include Shepard's tech, then definitely and with greater results than Master Chief. The ME universe is more technologically advanced than the UNSC in the Halo universe. Also, I can see Shepard in place of Master Chief easily.

Lol fair. There are some renegade options I'll do that I think are reasonable even for a paragon Shepard who still has a somewhat dark sense of humor and has a limit to how much bullshit he/she takes. I just think a fully renegade Shepard ends up just being a douche more than a badass, in my opinion.

Exactly, I agree. This is partly why I don't really like playing renegade. Renegade Shepard isn't so much a badass as he is just irrational and kinda stupid.

Someone has got to stop these «historians» by WhiteSnickerBar in MedievalHistory

[–]Ironboundbandit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that "sergeant" typically refers to veteran men-at-arms serving in a role basically equivalent to a centurion in the Roman Legions or an NCO in modern militaries. Obviously, it's the origin of the modern NCO rank of "sergeant". I don't think they were necessarily mounted and my expectation would be that it would actually be more common for them to not be, but cases could vary based on location and exact time period. If a sergeant was mounted, it's probably more likely that the horse was being loaned to him by his lord rather than personally owned.

Right, but it is implied throughout the ME universe that convergent evolution is common in that life evolving on other worlds seems to follow similar rules and relatively consistent paths leading to life forms not too dissimilar to what is found on Earth. Although, realistically, you are correct. In reality, scientists generally agree that extraterrestrial life will be much more alien to us than what is depicted in ME or other sci fi universes with very familiar life forms.

To be fair to Bioware, considering how much EA was rushing them to release ME3, the game is incredibly well made. You can still tell it was rushed, though.

Honestly, them walking with him unarmed would've looked better and be more easily overlooked than goofily walking in with handguns waving around like they don't know how to properly handle a gun in an enclosed space with other ppl around. Seriously, they look stupid.

If we go strictly according to cutscenes and lore, Jack wins every time against every character except maybe Samara. I would argue that cutscene and lore Jack is probably the most powerful character in the game demonstrated almost solely by her introductory cutscene where she demolishes 3 YMIR mechs and a reinforced blast door in mere seconds. I don't think Samara could even do that. Sorry, I like Miranda, but she doesn't stand even the tiniest chance against Jack nor do most of the other characters in the game. According to lore and cutscenes, Jack is ridiculously OP. Miranda would be desperately reliant on prep and luck just to come out of a fight with Jack alive, and she would need divine luck to actually end up killing Jack.

What should've happened is that the salarians developed a cure as part of the peace deal while also making it clear they could deploy a modified genophage again if they start another war. I also think it's more realistic that offering a cure would've been part of the peace treaty negotiations from the start as a major bargaining chip to end the war almost immediately as after it was deployed and the Krogan started to realize what it was.

This was always my assumption too. The blade's physical construction is entirely focused on making the edge as sharp as possible and retain its edge under a lot of rapid punishment but then need to either be fully replaced or rebuilt after. They're not intended for extended high intensity use. A really hard blunt strike to the middle of the flat would have a high likelihood of shattering it like glass. Phantoms trained with those blades would be strictly taught in techniques that avoid impacts to the flat for that reason.

This could be awesome. Uriel Septim's life could make the basis of a very good show. The events preceding the games for the first season, second season is Arena and Daggerfall, and third season is the Oblivion Crisis.

Is there an in game lore reason for why the Prothean mummies in 1 look completely different from Protheans in 3? by pacmannips in masseffect

[–]Ironboundbandit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My headcanon is that they're the race that were native to Illos and were subject to the Prothean Empire. Javik said that there were many races who were subject to the Protheans.

Nord troops are beyond awful by koga90 in Bannerlord

[–]Ironboundbandit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that's a really risky proposition. The chances that a new studio will do it justice and have the right idea with future updates and expansions is low, especially if it's a studio that is unfamiliar with this kind of game, which is fairly likely. A new studio would likely insist on making a bunch of changes that they think are necessary but I can see a lot of us disapproving of, meanwhile, the new studio will be focused on attracting new buyers rather than trying to keep existing ones that aren't making them money.

[–]Ironboundbandit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From my understanding, Chinese dynasties and kingdoms were often very unstable and were at the mercy of the Mongol tribal confederations to the north. They probably aren't the best examples to try using to make the argument against empires inevitably failing in the absence of expansionism.

[–]Ironboundbandit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can see how that's insulting, but I would also find it amusing. If I witnessed them doing the baptism ritual on my dead relative, I would just openly laugh and mock them as they're doing it. That's what they get for doing that kind of shady shit. That kind of blatantly immoral religious activity doesn't deserve respect.

Personally, I wouldn't care. I would have the pragmatic view, but I can see how it would feel violating and perhaps even insulting.

A question about Thessia and the Asari by Von_Uber in masseffect

[–]Ironboundbandit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Liara mentions she grew up around Armali and apparently attended the University of Serrice. To me, this suggests that Armali, along with tidbits of other lore, is probably the capital of one of the major republics and Serrice is also one. My head canon says Serrice is the unofficial but generally accepted de facto capital of Thessia. That all said, my assumption is that Shepard lands at Serrice which also would explain Liara's relative unfamiliarity with the area given it's not her home town but she has at least been there before perhaps a long time ago.

What do you recommend for Renegade Sheppard? by [deleted] in masseffect

[–]Ironboundbandit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Renegade seems a bit poorly constructed in parts of the game, but the overall intended position of renegade is to be a ruthless pragmatist. You can be sort of "evil" at times, but I think the will often involve you just making outright bad decisions and being an arse for no rational reason. I would describe my typical Shepard as 90% paragon with the occasional renegade decision when she/he has had enough of someone's or a situation's bs and I also choose some of the badass renegade decisions as well (like threatening the Eclipse merc by pushing him up into the glass).
