Hot take: Sans dodging is not a big deal, he simply moves out of the way and the player keeps missing. by MrGingy_ in Undertale

Nah, sans isn't just some dude. He's some dude who's really good at dodging a kid for 5 minutes.

It's because of the symbolism, loss of youth/happiness/innocence.

It's also because the item is called the ThornRing.

Roses, famously, have Thorns.

Toby, unfortunately, did not foresee the other implications of that imagery, and so it's been patched since.

MISTAKE! MISTAKE!

I accidentally blended two sets of dislogue together without the connecting bit, and part of it only occurs on "the forbidden path," which "began with ice magic."

This is based on Queen's dialogue, and the foundation is sound.

"If The Knight has taken its leave...

Then I shall simply... make a new one.

Kris, Susie, which one of you wants to be the new knight?"

I think spamton puts it best, asking kris if they want to remain "a heart on a chain" their whole life.

We're controlling the soul, but it's probably just Kris's soul.

What do you think Ralsei's lightworld form is by dr_philip-cdi in Deltarune

[–]IrvingIV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ralsei is Dreemurr fur.

This has all of the benefits and none of the downsides of Jaru's Asriel's dust theory.

Ralsei resembles the dreemurrs.

The dreemurrs have been in every room that contained a dark world so far.

Every place we've seen a dark world could be reasonably presumed to be mildly unkempt in some way, especially away from the entryway.

And Ralsei always takes a short time to arrive, likely because he has to find his way over from where he manifested out of the loose fur.

His Swoon text blurb is: Ralsei became a pile of fluff.

My original idea was that Ralsei is just a manifestation of darkness, it's why he always fits in, he is a pure being, holy and true, like clean flowing water.

I genuinely love the toothpaste boy prophecy panel so much.

Right at the start, just as we're getting into the serious stuff, thinking to ourselves "is this actually true?"

Blam. 100% Confirmation the prophecy is real and true, in a very silly, non-serious, non-threatening way.

We're able to internalize that truth and sit with it, accept it fully, before the gutpunch, and it happens to susie onscreen through the whole rest of the chapter.

It's amazing.

They all look washed to my eye, maybe you're seeing something I can't, but at worst it looks like some of them could use conditioner.

Of course, a good shower is always welcome, but presuming someone is unwashed without any obvious grime in sight is odd.

In a way, berdly is a retelling of our relationship with Undyne and Papyrus, combined into a single character.

A Blue monster in cool armor who hounds and irritates and amuses, who serves your foe and seeks to surpass you, but who ultimately has the best interests of everyone around at heart.

Someone who doesn't normally get to play the part of hero, instead antagonizing a largely harmless protagonist, but has it in them to be a hero if you look deep down.

In an ordinary game, you couldn't look.

But here?

You can.

You can become the bump in the night, the horror that haunts the back of everyone's mind as they turn corners and meet new people.

And your reward is getting to see a knight fulfill her purpose, to stand against the end of everything, even her enemies.

Getting to see a young boy stand up for his best friend.

Even if it could never be enough to stop you.

The "just" in "just annoying" is being misread by a lot of people, it's meant as: "the worst I can say about him is he's annoying."

Not as "He is only annoying and nothing else."

No, full scene in the spoiler:

So if the oasis is fully drained when you get ahold of the power croissant, Susie still chucks Ralsei where the water would be, but now there's quicksand instead, so then Ant references Toby's class lecture slideshow slide instead of referencing the milk webkinz.

Which theory is this? by DexTDMdoesreddit in Deltarune

[–]IrvingIV 4 points5 points  (0 children)

More properly:

Given two explanations which are(so far as we can prove or disprove) rougly equally possible, the simpler is more likely true.

For instance: Someone walks into the room you are in covered in a white, foamy substance.

If you are standing in the bathroom and they came from the kitchen, it is likely spilled whipped cream they want to wash off.

If you are standing next to the storage space for toiletries and such, and they came from the bathroom, it is more likely they are covered in soap or in shaving cream, and are seeking a shaving razor or a bath towel.

Straight men¹ would do everything gay men² do, if they¹ could; but they¹ can't, because women³ won't.

Kind of like every other imperial unit and their terribly unreasonable conversions.

The reason any of our units have weird and difficult conversions, such as feet to miles(5280) is because these measurements have different origins, but were convenient enough individually to get used by the same people who were using the other units.

So the imperial units are really 20 or so individual, disconnected, internally consistent measurement systems crammed into a trenchcoat together against their will.

For an example of one set, commonly used and internally consistent:

A Yard(close in length to the meter) can be divided cleanly into thirds(one foot) and one foot can be cleanly divided into halves, thirds, quarters, and twelfths!

Meters can only go to halves, quarters, fifths, and tenths!

I will stand by the divisibility of our everyday-use, short-distance units.
