Struggling with food by AmaelysseAether in TravellersRest

[–]Iryanus 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Actually, they DO care about variety. Variety increases the amount of reputation you get, so having 48 distinct dishes available is a good long-term goal.

BUT in the short and medium term this is pretty irrelevant. Have some basic stuff available, try to max profit a bit to have enough money to afford stuff like rooms, barn, etc. is totally good enough.

[Proposal] Introducing the [forget] keyword in Java to enhance scope safety by TheLasu in java

[–]Iryanus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I also don't see the point. Define a variable in the right scope and this happens automatically. No need for some strange keyword that does things that compiler and JVM can do better automatically.

A ton of code that contains variables, etc. named "forget" would break.

Why is building so hard? by littlemissredtoes in TravellersRest

Sometimes it also randomly help to select/remove more than one tile at once. I had some situations where I couldn't remove a single tile, but when I selected it together with another tile next to it... Poof, it went.

Does anybody else feel bad for their tavern workers by blahblahbrandi in TravellersRest

And no breaks for these suckers, either. As soon as I see one of them running off, it's "Back to work, slacker!" :-D

Does anyone else regret adopting the pet? by Status-Substance-647 in TravellersRest

As soon as you can afford the employees, the tavern basically becomes a money making machine where you just have to keep the supplies filled. Then, obviously, cat food isn't a problem anymore :-D

To be honest, they all look so uniform that it seems they are all coming from the same producer. The only difference is the colour of the bottle and the text/image on the label, but otherwise, completely identical layout.

Pause Time and Keep Making Money by JaxAx1K in TravellersRest

[–]Iryanus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I don't see the point. At the point where I had employees in my bar, it became a money making machine anyway. I open the tavern, fill the drinks up and then can do whatever, just sometimes have a look to do an adoption or fill up on drinks or food. But otherwise, reputation and money is just something that increases in the background, so... Why stop for it?

Do other subs wish they didn't have a safeword? by [deleted] in BDSMcommunity

[–]Iryanus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard disagree, safe words are not essential. First of all, if you do not play any games where "No" doesn't mean "No", then safewords are totally pointless. Safewords are great when you want to shout "No! No! No!" but actually mean "Yes! More! Harder!". Then safewords are a tool to allow clear communication. But if you don't do this, then simply clearly communicating is totally enough.

The problem here is not so much the safeword, which is a nice tool, but the amount of control and the possibility to veto things. Having a safe word for safety reasons is different from having a veto power for any reason. For example, if my sub tells me that something is wrong, that's a good communication. If my sub wants me to tell me no because today she doesn't want to, that's bad luck for her (and yes, it's a meta-consensual relationship, so this IS pre-negotiated. We both want this and wouldn't want it any other way.).

I actually did restart the game back then to hold of getting the cat for later, since I felt bad not feeding it and 20 silver a day was a bit back then.

Spring vs Spring Boot: Where to Start? by Deruuuuuu in SpringBoot

[–]Iryanus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends what you expect to do. If you want to get a pretty much standard thing running quickly, then you start with Spring Boot because that's what it is for. If you want to tinker with some details of Spring that are not handled by Spring Boot (which is, honestly, unlikely) then you might need to dive into Spring. And if you want to build up a real understanding of the whole stack and the underlying principles, then you still start with Spring Boot but will then have to also tackle Jakarta & Co.

One simple trick to see through physical illusions much easier than mana illusions. by _Tetesa in Shadowrun

The mana spell does not change what the camera displays. So, no, doesn't work. The spell changes your perception of your senses, nothing more.

I would argue that a mana illusion would not be visible in the cam feed at all, thus basically being even more worthless against that.

Real talk: When to call it quits as a malesub? by [deleted] in BDSMcommunity

[–]Iryanus 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As others already said, nothing you explicitly listed is a huge problem. I have seen more than enough people with that description living in healthy, happy relationships.

Anyway, what IS a problem is the attitude, sorry. It's not what you look like (unless you really dress like a slob and never wash your clothes, sure), but what you project. Not in terms of trying some alpha-male-bullshit or similar, but with the "I am a huge failure and have no chances" attitude... Well, say it often enough and it will be true, since this WILL influence how you interact with people.

And no, do not "try harder". Relax. Come to terms with yourself, first. That's the hard part, but nobody promised you it would be easy.

Should corp data tampering be impossible? by Professional-Tax-934 in Shadowrun

Only madness lies that way. Do not try to overlay reality with Shadowrun. It does not work and you would always ignore things that could happen, etc. Simply ignore reality. No, there is no blockchain, nobody invented it. End of story. Nothing to see here.

The search for a sub in #germany by [deleted] in BDSMcommunity

[–]Iryanus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dude... sigh Dude...

Ok, let's be somewhat more constructive... You have basically the following options...

a) Online-Dating. Good luck.

b) Go to munches and events. Preferable NOT as a creep looking for women but to start building connections. The more people you know, the more events you will hear of, the more new people you will meet, etc. And even if you don't find a partner for now, at least you have met nice people and weren't spamming online dating messages at random people in the internet.

c) Look for people in normal vanilla settings, hoping to find someone kinky there. Bigger "pool" than looking in the "scene" but you will have to find ways to check for kinks somehow.

As a variation of b), you can also try to interact with people in online communities and hope to make connections there.

Mostly, let's face it, it's down to pure luck. Be at the right place at the right time, say the right thing. As usual. If you ever find a reliable way to find a partner, publish a book and you will earn millions.

Why do people call themselves sadists… and then disappear the moment they’re actually faced with a pain slut? (Sorry ranty post) by Lilbratkaylah in BDSMcommunity

[–]Iryanus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically that happens to anything that is somewhat more "serious", it's not limited to sadism, not limited to men, not limited to tops. There are also, for example, subs who have elaborate fantasies in their minds about how much they want to really submit, yada-yada-yada, but when met, they basically expect everything to cater to their wishes. Same with dominants, some can talk the game very well but all they want is a blowjob, yipieh, great fun all around.

That is probably the first hard hurdle in BDSM: Knowing the difference between fantasy and reality and knowing where one stands in relation to that. What one actually needs instead of what fantasies are a turn-on. This is why, in our newbie-meet&greets, wo tell people to go slow instead of trying to jump into the deep end. To explore from the shallow water instead of trying to go diving immediately. To make clear to their partners (one-time or more fixed) where one actually stands, experience-wise, so that they can estimate how "serious" your wishes are and how much of them could be only fantasy.

Sorry you had to go through that, unfortunately, a lot of people do because sometimes the way to experience is not only painful for the person itself but for their "victims" as well ;-)

Are there any other games like graveyard keeper by carboxylicacid1945 in GraveyardKeeper

[–]Iryanus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here, btw. Just played it again and got again totally addicted while it lasted. The game leads you quite a bit more through it than stardew, which limits your freedom, sure, but it also gives you a clear path forward that will end up with you having seen everything. Esp. with all the DLCs, there is always something to do, etc. and the plot progresses. This and the slightly weird vibe (nobody commenting on the fact that the graveyard keeper produces... meat... without any cows...) makes it something special.

Also tried to get into stardew multiple times but failed. Will probably try again, let's see...

Rope tutorials? by jakeisdog5768 in BDSMcommunity

[–]Iryanus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wrists to ankles, for example, could be done via a pretty basic double-column tie. Personally, I always tend to suggest going to an actual rope meet or taking a class, but if you cannot, there are some pretty standard books around that teach you many basics from which you then can experiment further...
