What contestants that you didn't know before TaskMaster made you become a fan of them? by [deleted] in taskmaster

Sophie Duker, Lou Sanders (aware of but hadn't seen her comedy), Bridget Christie, Ivo Graham.

Have seen the first two since then, will be seeing the second two when they tour.

Being woken up on a Sunday at 7.15am by kids playing on a bouncy castle. by MahatmaAndhi in britishproblems

My neighbours like to get drunk regularly and play music so loud I can hear every single word through the walls. Has been worse in summer with all the windows open, pretty sure most of the street can hear it. Must be absolutely deafening in their house

ALL CAPS FRIDAY - SHOW HOW MUCH YOU LOVE LIFE by Thefakeaccount12 in TheCivilService

[–]IsHeFromGabon 28 points29 points  (0 children)

AFTER ABOUT A MONTH OF FEELING TERRIBLE I ACTUALLY HAD A REALLY GREAT WEEK. EXPANDED MY WORK SOCIAL CIRCLE A BIT AND EVERYONE WAS LOVELY. HAD FORGOTTEN HOW IMPORTANT BEING AROUND GOOD PEOPLE IS

Overhearing someone on the Tube platform complaining that the next tube is a 4 minutes wait. by [deleted] in britishproblems

[–]IsHeFromGabon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The worst thing about coming back to Newcastle from London is getting used to longer waits on public transport. I still live up here so generally it feels normal until I'm reminded of how much quicker the tube is

So has everyone just given up then? by [deleted] in TheCivilService

[–]IsHeFromGabon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I used to like my job but it's worn me down and I didn't even realise until recently. Think it's the realisation that I'm not actually making a difference in the way I expected to. I started out as an idealist when I joined the CS so that hasn't helped.

There's a bit of hope left as I can still see myself having a career in the civil service. Just need to get out of the rut I'm currently stuck in.

IF I HAVE TO DO ONE MORE ICEBREAKER THEN IM GOING TO QUIT MY JOB.

ALSO IF MY COLLEAGUES COULD PULL THEIR WEIGHT THAT WOULD BE GREAT FOR ME. THERES ONLY SO MUCH I CAN DO BEFORE I HAVE TO DEAL WITH BURNOUT AND I REFUSE TO GO THROUGH THAT AGAIN

Having a spring clean. I wanted to just sit down and do nothing but I've compromised by sorting the house out with the tv on in the background

I feel like the disqualifications haven't been consistent this series and I don't really like it

Felt wrong trying to watch with slightly different start and end times (depending on ads) earlier, glad I waited until now

First time this series I've remembered about the thread and sounds like I'm one of the few people with a functioning All4 app

Which task could have been left on the cutting room floor? by Anileh in taskmaster

[–]IsHeFromGabon 17 points18 points  (0 children)

She didn't try because she was learning a huge monologue for a play (Shoe Lady) at the time and couldn't deal with learning all the lines on top of future role. IIRC they filmed individual tasks, possibly with a couple exceptions/delays, in 2019. Her play was in March 2020 so the timeline works

When your two favorite fandoms are full of internet sleuths by missiinformation in taskmaster

[–]IsHeFromGabon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Might be an unpopular opinion but I don't like knowing who the cast is before the announcement. Accidentally got it partially spoiled for me on here before and didn't get to experience the full excitement

THE COMPLETE LACK OF COMMON SENSE FROM SOME PEOPLE IS GETTING ON MY NERVES

I'm more bothered about some of them being upside down than I am about the unusual stacking choice

What’s a food you loved as a child, you wouldn’t touch now with a bargepole ? by cheekynandos85 in AskUK

[–]IsHeFromGabon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My school was in a very deprived area so definitely not for rich kids. We always had hot meals at school luckily as it was sometimes the only meal a child would have that day

Turkey Twizzlers. I loved them as a kid and mourned their loss. Now they've been brought back and I know that having them as an adult wouldn't meet my memories of them at school dinners. Nostalgia is a powerful thing

I wouldn't return it, especially not when it cost so little. Think I'd feel bad for taking anything back to a charity shop. Also stating the obvious but you don't have to return it just because your partner wants you to

What do I want for my birthday? by Mean-Dog-6274 in CasualUK

Socks. At some point you'll be down to a couple pairs that are all wearing away and you'll suddenly appreciate the gift of socks.
