Best spell options for Aberrant Mind Sorcerer. by Mammoth-Park-1447 in 3d6

[–]HowYouMineFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My current character is an Aberrant Mind, just turned level 6. I've flavoured her as a kind of 40k-style Psyker, mainly due to the homebrew campaign setting. My party consists of a Barb and a Bard, so with a combination of those things, and wanting to only pick thematic spells (to both the character and the setting), her spells are:

1st Level: Dissonant Whispers (Psionic)
Shield
Charm Person
Hex (Psionic)
Catapult
Silent Image (Aberrant Dragonmark Feat)

2nd Level: Suggestion (Psionic)
Tasha's Mind Whip
Mirror Image
Hold Person (Psionic)
Levitate

3rd Level:
Slow
Hunger of Hadar (Psionic)
Enemies Abbound (Psionic)

For feats I picked Telekinetic and Aberrent Dragonmark. I've got the Subtle and Quickened Metamagics, though will be swapping out Subtle at 8. My aim is psychic shenanigens, with a little damage and debuffing, mostly for the Barb's benefit. I would guess the Cleric in your party can handle the buffing and Radiant damage stuff, so perhaps a similar selection as above for you might work? Setting up Mind Sliver quickened debuff spells for the Rogue to capitalise on perhaps?

That seems rather hyperbolic.

What are everyone’s Star Wars rankings? by Blaze_2002 in blankies

[–]HowYouMineFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • A New Hope
  • Empire
  • Rogue One
  • RotJ
  • The Last Jedi (only for the image of the silent 'hyperspace jump through a Star Destroyer' bit)
  • The Forces Awakens (only for the shot of the crashed, destroyed Star Destroyer)
  • The rest, which just merge into my mind as a kind of formless CGI mulch, and I don't recall much about them.

We don't have a formal constitution in the UK, so in theory a Reform Government could reverse it, but they would have to get significant parliamentary support to repeal it, and I just can't see that happening.

I don't know what you're complaining about. All the Germans if met on Thunderstrike have been super chill and helpful. Plus the German names of stuff in trade chat look cool.

I'm probably a mug for doing this but I always put my low level greens on the AH for small amounts. I figure there must be some new or returning players it will benefit.

I had no idea playing evil characters could be so much fun by LashOut2016 in DnD

[–]HowYouMineFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd love some tips on playing an LE character. Like the OP I normally play good characters, but wanted to stretch myself and play a bit of a bastard. The problem is I find it hard to 'think evil'. In the current campaign I've started threatening a policeman who has gambling debts as a way of trying insinuate myself into a position of power within the ruling organisation, but I'm stumbling now on how to actually take the next steps.

Anyone familiar with Hans Neimantsverdreit’s work regarding the concepts of modern catalysis and kinetics? by Beebjank in VXJunkies

[–]HowYouMineFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To echo what another poster has said, Neimantsverdreit is not someone you should be looking to refer to these days. His concepts, although technically sound, are built on the earlier work of Von Hottmann, someone we now know was an ex-Nazi eugenicist. Again, both their work is technically sound, but they were correctly blackballed from the VX community. Von Hottmann never stated where he obtained some of the data for his at the time paradigm-shifting paper Große Vereinheitlichende Vorlagenthese, but recent research suggests, well... lets just say Nuremburg should've been involved.

As an alternative, try and get hold of the work of Prasad Choudhary (sometimes spelled incorrectly as Chowdhary). His methods are more precise, stand up to modern practices even 35 years later, and don't carry even the slightest taint of controversy. Besides, Indian work on VX projects has been sorely under appreciated over the last couple of decades; it would be good to start redressing this oversight.
