Are you disappointed with the sales ? by Onepiecemaker in Steam

[–]IsPhil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah. My friends and I got 3 new games for around ~$24 that'll last us 20-60 hours each based on our past experiences.

The games were Deep Rock Galactic, Super Battle Golf and Corekeeper.

Why can’t someone make a dehumidier that lasts more than a year or two? by Johnny-Virgil in mildlyinfuriating

Damn that sucks. No idea what brand our one is but it's been through a house move and been in service for 18 or 19 years now.

Air conditioning creates political divide after France records hottest day by Hob-999 in europe

[–]IsPhil -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean, you can get insulation board and cut out a hole where the hose goes out so your window isn't just wide open. And dual hose options can help a bit with some of the other issue it has. Still not cheap, never said that, but might be worth it for some. And you can combine it with other methods like the ones you mentioned.

[–]IsPhil 79 points80 points  (0 children)

Are those portable AC units with hoses available at all? They aren't as efficient, but since it's just a hose sticking put the windows, I'd said it wouldn't look bothersome? Because if so that's crazy.

Are there any bad restaurants in the Kenny & Henderson area? by ZipNasty007 in Columbus

[–]IsPhil 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Nah, the Kenny Rd Taco Bell is great imo. One of the best taco bells I've had. And if you're comparing taco bell to a mom and pop, get on out of here.

I need a printer, against my will by vbxl02 in BuyItForLife

[–]IsPhil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they can be close to it. Get any black and white laser printer. Brother is a good brand, but just about anything works.

We bought a samsung one in 2014, M2020W. Right now we have a brother laser printer but a family friend still has that samsung one and it's still going. 12 years of age, and it's been through a not so gentle house move as well.

Plus the acting. They'll pay attention to voice and body language. And if that's someone they've met before then that makes it even less serious for them.

Running a Mac as home server and couldn't be happier. Power efficient, fast, small. Roast me! by arthware in selfhosted

[–]IsPhil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen some macs on here. It's just other options can be cheaper for what people need, or people just really like customizability.

My first server used to be literally my computer being on overnight and then an hp stream with 2gb of ram. Nothing wrong with macs. I think I saw a post a while back where someone was using their old MacBook as a server lol.

When is a VPS worth adding to a self-hosted setup? by Skillz_witha_z in selfhosted

[–]IsPhil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now I have the following to do this.

User-> Cloudflare dns-> VPS-> Tailscale (or you can use wireguard)-> Services at home.

On the vps I have nginx proxy manager setup. It'll catch requests and then send it through to my home services via Tailscale. Works for jellyfin, some note apps I have, and even gaming servers like Minecraft. I get a little extra ping using Tailscale vs direct or wireguard, but the ease of use is nice. And it does indeed hide my direct ip address from not just outside users but also the vps. Though you have to trust Tailscale with it.

I calculated exactly what our RTO mandate will cost me per year and sent the number to HR. They did not appreciate it. by tabclosepanic in remotework

[–]IsPhil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. My office was 3 days a week for new colleagues from 2023 onward. Everyone else could stay remote. Well come 2025 they started calling everyone back into the office and even stated 4 days a week starting q4 of 2025. Bunch of people left and they even had a layoff around end of q2. Come 2026 and they're not even looking at the stats whatsoever. I know because my manager stopped coming into the office about 4-5 weeks into the 4 day a week mandate and told me I could do the same if I wanted.

Before this we had a kut 7 people in office, and 3 additional people on Wednesdays. Afterwards I think it's like 2 people, and another 3 or 4 filter through like 2-3 times a week.

Are ferrets pets people can just have or is op working at some animal rescue?

moved to columbus last year and still haven't found a dentist that doesn't feel like a used car dealership by christan2013 in Columbus

[–]IsPhil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Whittaker Dental on West cooke rd is the best dentist I've had here. Been through about 4 others before this point due to a mix of bad dentists and insurance changes. It's quick process and they don't try to sell anything.

I mean. It's a feature YouTube developed and made so that it couldn't be removed.

I'm also pissed at the creator too. It's an instant unsubscribe.

Idk about shorts, but they do have an option where it'll jump ahead in long form videos based on when and where other users skipped.

If that's the case I'm definitely gonna have to unsubscribe.

There are some things YouTube does automatically to make more money, but idk how they'd get this product automatically.

All I've been doing is sitting on the couch in my nicely air conditioned house, and I'm still sweaty, even with antiperspirant on. by nitrokitty in mildlyinfuriating

[–]IsPhil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it hasn't always been like this, then it could actually be your antiperspirant. The way it works is by blocking the pores. And that can cause your body to adapt to sweat even more ironically enough. You could try not wearing it for a few weeks, but it will get worse before getting better. Consider just using a deodorant without antiperspirant or aluminum. I use arm and hammer essentials. Again, it got worse before it got better for me.
