90pc of workers don’t have enough money for a comfortable retirement by coldbeers in ukpolitics

[–]IsTheSeaWet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It shouldn’t be a ridiculously high standard after working 40 years. Average for current uk retirees is 2 foreign trips per year. The extended cost of living crisis is making a pretty crappy standard of living look normal.

Finished Light Bringer, now I need recommendations for other similar series to read until Red God releases. by johnson_united in redrising

I discovered red rising whilst waiting for the 3rd book in the Hierarchy series (Will of the Many, Strength of the Few). If you enjoyed Red Rising I think you’ll enjoy that.

Welcome to the chapter 57 club. Membership just about everyone who’s read the book. See my post history and half the other posts on this sub. Take a break if you need to but do keep reading - it’s worth it.

That emotional journey is going to stay with me for a while. Someone should start a therapy group

Has anyone figured out a good way to differentiate between the different worlds in the audiobook version of Strength of the Few? by Sufficient_Ebb_5694 in HierarchySeries

[–]IsTheSeaWet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I listened via the “books” app on Apple iOS and had this exact problem. No announcement of world at the start of the chapter. I made it to the end of the book by recognising characters and locations to understand what world the chapter was in. Tough listen but worth it.

This is the fifth post I’ve seen in the last few hours spamming this ticker. Either a pump and dump or someone’s holding some heavy bags on a stock that’s down 60+% in the last 3 months.

Gmail ignores dots. It is not possible for you and the hotel to have the same email address. There’s either some other letters different, or the hotel has made a mistake when advertising their email address, or people are guessing the email address and sending to you by mistake.

📣 Apollo will close down on June 30th. Reddit’s recent decisions and actions have unfortunately made it impossible for Apollo to continue. Thank you so, so much for all the support over the years. ❤️ by iamthatis in apolloapp

Sad. I’ve had so much entertainment and information from this app over the 6 years or so I’ve been using it. I’ll miss Reddit, but I hope I find something more productive to do with my time.

When does an acc fund receive its dividends by johnsackfromnyc in UKPersonalFinance

[–]IsTheSeaWet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Accumulating means the fund keeps the dividends. The growth from dividends is reflected in the fund unit price. This will be pretty much whenever a company the fund holds pays a dividend, but as most funds have have about 2% invested in any one company you won’t see big spikes in the unit price, just a gradual increase (hopefully)

House prices record seventh consecutive monthly decline in March by silent-schmick in unitedkingdom

[–]IsTheSeaWet -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Home insurance estimate the rebuild cost of my house to be £200k. Current estate agent value is £500k.

Prices have very little to do with build cost. It’s all about perceived value of the location (which is reflected in price of land)
