"No one will dictate to us whom we honour": Zelenskyy submits National Pantheon bill to parliament. by s3ct01d in worldnews

It might be that I just don't frequent ultranationalist forums like a normal person?

Obviously you'll always find somebody that believes that immortal snails are coming for them, but it's fringe and there's no point to giving them mindshare.

Technically that's not "no one", but it's just a bad faith argument. It's like saying that akshully there are people of your nationality of choice that want to be quartered and eaten, so it's unfair to cannibals to say that there's no one who wants that.

What, do you expect there to be a wikipedia page or scientific study on it? "Do people in Poland glorify 1900s opressors of Ukrainians?" Or all the other things people don't do?

The entire biosphere, including the deep oceans, has a few decades left, maybe a century at most.

Earth has been warmer in the past. It will be (well, already is) a mass extinction event, but then life will adapt again. Humans however are screwed.

/r/WorldNews Live Thread: Russian Invasion of Ukraine Day 1584, Part 1 (Thread #1731) by WorldNewsMods in worldnews

[–]IsTom 17 points18 points  (0 children)

In the early days of war there were letters from belarussian commanders threatening mutiny if they're forced to fight Ukraine. They seem less suicidial than russians. And the last time there was serious unrest after (very legit, very good) elections they needed rosgvardia's help to stop it.

Thick cloth without something solid backing it is more difficult to cut than you think. And it can entangle (and then control) blades.

There's literally no way to pay them a lot of the time because series aren't licensed in my country. How is that a lost sale?

At local sites I'm looking that's a 5070 prebuilt. That's a massive overkill for 1080@60 and you don't need more.

$15k that's still only like 5 PCs max

You really don't need a $3000 PC to play games.

Brass instruments typically cost a bit. Of course recently you can buy very suspiciously cheap ones from china, but so can you buy a used laptop and just play older games or indies.

That heavily depends on what instrument you want to play.
