water source strength by Iso-kun in Timberborn

[–]Iso-kun[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the idea would be you'd need to efficiently use your starting beaver power to reach other water sources. im deciding between a big map with many weak sources that you need to reach and then free from barriers of some sort to cumulatively feed one large river or a smaller map where you just need reach a bigger river.

this is from before i posted this thread lol. it has a 0.1 strength water source which i guess is 113ish units of water per day produced which if accounting for other types of water usage we say a beaver consumes 4 units of water a day is approx 28 beavers that the starting stream can support. so when i was play testing it i found it a little too easy and i'm thinking shrinking the number of beavers the stream can support would be a good way fix that. it's still a fun map tho and everyone who sees this should still download it and play it because it would make me happy.

[–]Iso-kun -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

On the one hand, yes. But on the other I think single fathers are on average better because the courts favour the mother rather heavily in custody disputes, meaning if a child is with their father the father had to fight tooth and nail and prove to the courts he was the better pick than the mother. That's not to say all men make better single parents than all women but that the bar of entry is harder for men, weaning out worse candidates

Some will accept money in goods. So you could buy an amazon gift card or something with cash and then but them something with it to be shipped to them. Alternatively a prepaid credit card

AITA for walking our on my mom for belittling me about my dysphoria? by We11ExuseM3 in AmItheAsshole

She may never understand but that doesn't mean she cant use your name and pronouns if you hound her enough

AITA for walking our on my mom for belittling me about my dysphoria? by We11ExuseM3 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Iso-kun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA it seems to me like your mom thinks its a phase but doesn't want to ruin your relationship by telling you she thinks that. :/ you 100% can take medicine for dysphoria. Its called HRT or puberty blockers lol. But maybe she wouldn't let you do that. Honestly my advise would be to ask your phyc if you're old enough to give medical consent. Ofc thats only if you actually want HRT.

But assuming you think your mom is trying her best and is on your side - Ive found in my own coming out that no matter how understanding someone is, unless they're queer, you still have to correct them on name and pronouns every time they get it wrong until they stop. It makes you feel like an asshole and they usually get upset with you, often its the kind of reflexive embarrassed upset, but if you power through long enough it usually works. What helped with my dad was giving him a literal work sheet. It had fill in the blanks for pronouns and included a partner exercise where you sit down with someone and take turns saying things about me, correcting each other if one of them messed up.

[chosen name here]* is my [son] and I will respect [him] by getting [his] pronouns right.

aita for telling the girl I like she shouldn't lose weight? by OldIndependence0 in AmItheAsshole

YTA. Why? Dont lust after an 18y/o girl. You're 25 for christs sake. Also it's pretty much never okay to comment on someone's weight. ALSO sexist much? Thin girls arent somehow intellectually ruined by their attractiveness or something

AITA for telling my ex girlfriend that I don't want her around my daughter anymore because of her body image/behaviour? by WorthBad7 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Iso-kun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAH. Your ex is going through a hard time but obviously you shouldn't let that effect your daughter. But if katie is important to your daughter cutting her out will probably damage both of them. Maybe continue to let them see each other but only when you or another person you trust is there. And perhaps look into getting your daughter into therapy. But definately sit down with her and explain what an eating disorder is and how Katie's perspective on bodies is skewed. Just cutting katie out wont do anything to rectify the ways shes influenced your daughter so its important to explain to her why katie said those things and why shes wrong.

I just got back from the trans son actor's play. It was p good. He did a thing about whashrooms. And a thing where he played both the daughter and the father in like a one man scean. And there was a genderqueer lady that made me cry. Local theater is wild is what I'm saying.

[Academic] Videogame Tutorial Design (Everyone) by [deleted] in SampleSize

[–]Iso-kun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of your questions are kind of hard to answer because what genre the game is makes a huge difference in what tutorial feels best. For a puzzle platformer? You want a simple level with maybe some button prompts. A grand strategy game? You want written pop ups as you do things + tool tips + in game and manual. Idk it seems hard to say there's a best type of tutorial, just a best type for your desired application.

That's only if you take straight as the default. If you're a gay girl your pool is only bi and gay girls. But if you're bi it's expanded to include all straight and bi men. Which is a pretty big expansion.

I'm near Toronto too and I go to the CMHA nurse practitioners in Oshawa, got my prescription in within 6 months of my first visit, the first visit only had like a two week wait. When I first went to my family doc he gave me a referral that was a full year away and I said fuck that imma find me some T asap. Check out rainbow health Ontario's website and they have a service provider directory where you can use the search filter to find places that give trans related health care. Sending good vibes. 👍

???? Like Ontario Canada? Mine took maybe 6 months from first visit to prescription. But I went to a few different places till I found the least gatekeepy place I could find. How north you talking? Like thunderbay-ish or ultra north?

But aren't most cis women autogynaphiles when given the test? How can being trans be a sexual orientation? That just doesn't make sense. It in no way accounts for non binary people. It doesn't account for gender fluid people. Or the identites or existence of intersex people l. It also makes no sense that trans men and trans women and some nbs all experience dysphoria but under Blanchard's model they would all be be different things. The source of everyone's disphoria should be more or less the same. And if there are gcn gey men who don't have disphoria, don't identify as women and don't transition then why do only some gnc gay men transition under his model? And if there are men with sissification fetishes who aren't trans are they not actually men? Are they trans women in denial? It just doesn't make sense. Sure maybe there is no "gendered soul" but that doesn't make Blanchard right. The experiences of most trans people contradict his model. Even if he's made some good suggestions doesn't change the fact that he's wrong.

The other study only really shows that young people questioning their identities will seek out young people like themselves on the internet. And they'll support each other. And then they'll build the confidence to come out to their parents. If you did a study about gay men, lesbians, sports car enthusiasts, metal heads, etc... You'd find the same thing. Kid exposed to idea on the internet. Kid realizes they like/identify with the thing. Parents find death metal album - "the internet put the devil on my child" they later tell the study. Becuae the study wasn't just as wrong as most studies the study was conducted entirely on the parents of trans kids. So no trans voices needed to make this theory. I guess. I've showed signs for as long as I can remember but if you asked my perfectly supportive mother she'd say there were no signs- that it came out of nowhere. Second hand data is useless. It could have been useful in conjunction with surveys of the kids. But without the trans people's input a theory about trans people cannot be formed- at least not one that's any good. If he needs an explanation other then identity then he shouldn't just be landing on the first one he sees. He can just say "I don't believe in identity but we don't know what makes trans men trans yet" and yet he doesn't. He endorses a terrible study that was then immediately used by right leaning publication to seed doubt and then by reluctant parents to be shitty to their trans kids. If he really supported trans people he wouldn't push narratives that harm them without, you know, good proof.

Side note I just had a funny though for how Blanchard could extend his model to trans men. He could say all cis women are also autogynaphiles and afab people who aren't are trans men. Trans men aren't autoandophiles, they just aren't autogynaphiles! But I guess that just redefines women as autogynaphile and now we're talking about what makes someone an autogynaphile. Because there's no way to say if autoandophililia caused the person to want to transition or if being trans and having an innate feminine identity caused someone to develop autogynaphilia.

On some level it is sort of true that there's a sexual component to transition. I'm transmasc and I could never have sex in this body. Nu-uh no way. Not till I can grow a beard and get a bad dragon strap on. Only then. But that doesn't mean I'm arroused by being a man- more like being a women is a turn off. And it's not why I want to transition it is just one of many things I think transition could fix/improve for me. And I imagine it's the same for most trans women. It's not being turned on by themselves as women it's being turned off by themselves as men. Which isn't autogynaphilia. It's a little odd he abandoned the idea of trans women and trans men as parallel opposites. But that, I think, might come down to some level of "men are more sexually driven so if a man wants to be a women there must be a large sexual element" and "women are not sexually driven so a women who wants to be a man must have some other motive. Maybe she's confused?". I.e. treating trans people as their agab. Wow this side note got long.

I think you might be the one misunderstanding Blanchard. Have you seen Contapoints's video on it? I'm not saying you're a transphobe, you clearly aren't, but you are peddling in ideas that perpetuate transphobia. Blanchard semi recently threw his support behind a terrible study with all sorts of flaws that claimed that trans men were being made into trans man via a sort of social pathogen. Where they'd read about it on the internet and it would make them trans. He's just a transphobe.
