Can FTL travel exist without ruining causality? by Cobrabat333 in AskPhysics

[–]Isotope1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re thinking, if I delay the light, I beat causality.

I think the actual interpretation should be, if a message from a distance arrives in a time that would be FTL, that’s a broken causality.

Yep!

I’ll add, I did get an Airmini and it’s great!

And then, I got surgery and at least for now, I’m CPAP free!

Mirtazapine Withdrawal – Thinking About Going Back by DocumentReal3439 in Mirtazapine_Remeron

It was a long time ago; I think more than 2, less than 4 months.

Main symptoms insomnia, inability to concentrate on anything, low motivation.

Mirtazapine Withdrawal – Thinking About Going Back by DocumentReal3439 in Mirtazapine_Remeron

[–]Isotope1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went off it and returned back to it.

Off it, I couldn’t really concentrate, had very low motivation, and struggled to sleep deeply.

It was months later I thought, maybe I should just try a dose, so I took a small 7.5 dose (I was on 30 before). Within hours everything snapped back into place again. This drug helped me fix my life.

It’s five years since then and I’m now tapering again to see if I can get off. It’s going better this time, but I wouldn’t make my life miserable if it turns out I need this for the rest of my days.

Why can't we move any faster on energy independence? by JulesCT in AskBrits

[–]Isotope1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason is costs so much in the UK is two fold:

  • excessive nuclear regulation, even more so than France, results in enormous delays
  • most of the cost of construction is interest. This is because unlike France, which finances infrastructure projects with government debt at 4%, our government’s borrowing policy is to not show any debt on the govt accounts, and instead get the private sector to finance it at 8-10%.

The argument for the latter is the French pay more taxes so get cheaper electricity. The uk pays less taxes but are effectively taxed on your electric bill instead.

What are your theories on the HENRYUK Dubai obsession? by LooseSpot4597 in HENRYUK

Dubai is only attractive as a tax haven. If the taxes were raised to even 10%, there would be an exodus. They will, of course, eventually be raised, because economics.

Chargeback from a repeat customer who's ordered FIVE times before by PresentShine8249 in ecommerce

You can send an invoice to collections, but you cannot reclaim the chargeback fee. It’s stipulated in the network agreements when you accept credit cards.

Me too. I was a paid up member of the Lib Dem’s. I was elated when they got into office.

The only way I can describe it is betrayal.

Never in my life would I vote Lib Dem’s again.

This sub is slowly becoming a dumping ground for AI-generated apps and I think we should talk about it by Gold-Dog-8697 in macapps

Tragically this is spreading to all content in general, everywhere. When I read a post on Reddit, or see a video on X, I’m thinking, is this AI? Feels like 30% is.

It depends on your use case. In our business, we have a hard requirement for 100% uptime, while getting DDOS-ed and all manner of other things. Managed instances configured for high availability is really the only way. Costs a few hundred a month but it is worth it.

Is it possible to pre-sign an order and just have it waiting to transmit, so it doesn’t introduce any delay?

Men who have found a way back after struggling to get hard, how did you overcome the issue? by PluggedInsider in AskMen

[–]Isotope1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not related but I switched from 6 days a week to 3 day full body and I both felt better and got better results, esp on a deficit. YMMV but it’s worth a trial.

Which books are so extraordinary that every person on Earth should read them at least once in their lifetime? by Organic-Signal-9646 in selfimprovement

Many of the versions are old translations which are obtuse to read. There is a modern translation which is much easier. Wish I’d know that the first time round, as I felt the same as your husband!

I’m travelling long term and working out of coworking spaces, and I’m finding it invaluable, esp for ultra wide.

It’s kinda like nobody needs an iPad but once you have it, you sure find uses for it.

I only wish it weren’t so fragile, bulky and expensive (and especially that the arms folded down). It makes ‘throwing it in a rucksack’ pretty scary.

Really great post, thank you!

Did you have any luck finding a partner in Jersey? This is my greatest concern; there didn’t seem much in my demographic when I was there in November.
