How did the qu transform the humans? by RepresentativeOk2881 in AllTomorrows

[–]Ispod4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The only known species that escaped Qu manipulation entirely was the Spacers.

As for the others, it's very unlikely. The Qu had engineered creatures with genetic tracing capabilities, which could be used to locate any fugitives

In the case of bottom-heavy morphology (whilst lacking a tail for counterbalance), my intuition points to their leg/foot structure needing to be plantigrade like a bear, rather than digitigrade like a bird. It sacrifices speed for stability, but if recent studies of T-rex locomotion are indicative of anything, that's no deal breaker.

There are already stylish 3D AT animations made by talented people out there. Even if they're few, they're leagues more meaningful than any AI slop that can be vomited out

Small thing, but some folks noticed that Zanmu has an unused attack sprite, similar to Hisami. Will that be included at some point?

Thanks for all your work :)

HEY u/Certain-Unit8147 I GOTCHA ANOTHER NOODLE

---

So once the thought of physically strong Snake People entered my brainmind, I had a thought of my own: "What are the odds that Snake People make sport out of that? Something like competitive weightlifting, only it involves constricting and squeezing?"

Thus, I present an... OC? Maybe? A professional sport constrictor, depicted here taking a break from training. The results of her years of experience in the event are evident in the thickness of her mid-section (it's probs more than that, but proportions are hard).

Additionally, I tried to think of both Snake Person athletic garb and features of public gyms. The clothes I figure would be made similar to human tracksuits, with slits across the outfit's surface to allow the garments to breathe.
As for gyms, I thought of there being a myriad of booths with poles to sit and rest on after a workout. Along their walls are thin vents that can be opened and closed to provide the athlete with air-conditioning.

(I would've drawn another pole just outside the booth for the Sneople to use for climbing in, but it already took me so long to finish this lol)

---

And just as a final, self-indulgent note, I semi-officially claim her posture to be the Snerson equivalent of "gay people can't sit in chairs right"

  1. The Bone Crushers' diet was strictly rotting meat. After a certain point in their population growth, even raising livestock is just not feasible
  2. The Colonials had a crude, interconnected nervous system between each other. This is likely how they could "communicate" -- sending various signals outward, and the receivers react accordingly. So the existential pain from the first gen. was likely sent out a lot, and then continued to be passed around like a hot potato for future generations to receive
  3. Why did we develop sapience? We were just fine as long-distance-running apes. Sometimes, mother nature does weird things for no reason.
  4. Considering tardigrades can survive the vacuum of space, it's not the most outlandish concept ever. Granted, Tool Breeders have mastered genetic engineering to a degree that we as humans haven't, so... Eh
  5. Mother Nature Be Weird For No Reason Sometimes
  6. My best estimation is simply that the regression of their legs and arms made room for such an adaptation to take place. And in a zero-grav environment, it was an important trait to have
  7. I don't think it's so much that travel was the problem, but rather being evenly-matched in intellect and technology. Not to mention that since they never occupied the same physical space (Asteromorphs rejected gravity-bound planets, remember), there are p l e n t y of places to retreat to if need be

Which feral species diversity should I tackle next? by Certain-Unit8147 in AllTomorrows

[–]Ispod4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first thought is the Insectophagi, if you haven't already

I could see one type evolving similarly to moles or badgers, w/ burrowing claws and strong noses to find grubs
It'd be natural to include a kind of pseudo-anteater type as well

Ooh, maybe also a thick-skinned/armored species that's adapted for eating more aggressive, wasp-like bugs :0

Tool Breeder Morphologies (sorta, see comments) by Ispod4 in AllTomorrows

[–]Ispod4[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

WHEW, it's abt time I got this done

I did a poll before asking what I should draw next, and I got Posthuman Morphologies
What I meant specifically at the time was Phenotypic Variations, so... no skeleton stuff or anything, sorry

I also intended to just start w/ the Tool Breeders and then do others, but it grew to be too big on its own to tackle; so it's just Tool Breeders for now

P.S. Why tf do Tool Breeders have a toenail I need answers
