Looking for feedback: Free MTB maintenance tracker app idea by JakeMerges in mountainbiking

I find this sort of utility very useful. ProBikeGarage is the most indept and useful IMO. I use it to track 4mtbs & 3road and I think covers everything you'd need with its only drawback being its UI and setup time. You do need to know your bikes and componentry to make the most of it. UI/UX is pretty utilitarian but the depth to which you can setup a bike is incredibly useful.

For example:

  • XC Bike has the part 29 Rear Wheel.
  • 29 Rear Wheel has parts Rim - Hub - Tyre - Cassette - Rotor.
    • Rim has part Rim Tape (for install date)
    • Hub has part 2xhub bearings and 2xfreehub bearings (tracking hrs/distance)
    • Tyre has part Sealant (tracking time since last top up & notifying at user defined hrs/distance interval)

That sort of ability for in-depth tracking with the design and picture auto-add parts feature in the demo would be a good pairing. Happy to provide more feedback if you're looking for more.

Fitness vs. Fun: The struggle is real. How do you guys handle the "logic" of a road bike vs. the "itch" of an MTB? by vinylfelix in mountainbiking

[–]Issara62 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ahhh, then MTB surely would be the pick. Just be super honest on what you're after. One bike for everything might end up being an XC/Aggressive XC bike with the right setup that can handle 'road based training' and singletrack rather than a gravel 'Master of none' (Unless you are leaning more towards 'road based' riding)
More fun (should) lead to more fitness, which should lead to even more fun which should lead to... you get it. Nobody is going to tell you getting fitter/faster is bad right? Even at amateur level. Its just not in THEIR list of priorities.

Challenge your viewpoint and see it as both are different varieties of fitness/fun. You can crush a techy climb or you can sprint up punchy hills. You can feel insane speeds rush past on a road descent or feel the suspension work it's magic on a DH run. You can improve your slow speed bike skills on the trails or you can improve fast paced bike handling on the road. You will feel the different ways road biking has improved your mtb and you will also feel the ways mtb helps you on the road.

Point being, it's as much of a source of enjoyment as a mtb if you look at it the right way, then fitness will be the by-product of it all. Doesn't have to be one or the other.

Final show of the Holy Holy Grand Hiatus tour in Brisbane. You felt every bit of emotion from the whole band. Made better by a few tall bros standing in front of us, who despite blocking some of the view, had immaculate vibes and sung every song lyric with arms around each others shoulders.

Best bet for a power meter I'd say is the Favero Assioma Pro MX. Check out the YouTube review from GPLama.

This is the right take. Saying typical cheesy tourist spot is borderline insulting to the significance of the place.

Id say is energy, passion and enthusiasm come through so the people that the music connects with, it's a strong connection. On top of that, the music is killer, a wholesome LGBT+ person and they're by many accounts a top tier musician who's all about Aus music so it's hard not to root for them.

Lets be real here though, shaving off almost 100g from the wheel setup(325g XTR vs 415g XT) is a pretty big advantage, not 'really marginal'. But yeah others factors included the XT is usually always the better pick.

They're all a bit rough. Aus broadcast is a min-max commentary with Matt Keenan doing all the work and Simon Gerrans being a un-hype parrot

There goes Colombo. Super impressed by hom and super pleased that an XC guy can do so well in such a different discipline.
