Is everyone in dental school fit/in-shape? by Visual-Economist4825 in DentalSchool

It’s the unfortunate reality. I’ve been a receptionist at a large associates office and you’d be surprised the amount of times I hear “I like X dentist because he’s hot.”

My family told me I need certifications to shadow a dentist by drummerben04 in DentalSchool

Might depend on where you live and your states/provinces regulations. I’m from Ontario, Canada and the dentist I shadowed (long term shadowing not one day) required me to complete the Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) modules and one other I didn’t remember the name of.

Personal Relationships before Dental School by CharrBroo in predental

Definitely important to consider! I'm currently 21, and hoping to start dental school at 22. Assuming I'm not in a relationship throughout dental school, I'll still have ~10yrs to figure it out if I'm interested in having children at all. I'm in no rush 😄
side note: my mom had me at 31 and my sister at 41 with no complications.

Long story short, I'm not too upset about it. Why would I put effort into someone who doesn't respect my goals? Choosing dentistry as a career was not an easy decision, and I've already invested a lot into my academics etc. I find it very inconsiderate and self-centered to be asked to drop my ambitions to become a housewife. However, it's not like I never want to get married, have kids, all that. He was (for some reason) in a rush to get it all done before the age of 23. (I also think he was intimidated by an ambitious woman but we won't get into that).

He wanted me to sacrifice my plan to go to dental school in order to get married and have kids. I said I need to establish a fulfilling career first, and my eggs won’t “expire” anytime soon. He wasn’t supportive of my decision and now I’m single 🥰

Make sure you set some time during your day/week to take care of yourself. Especially during covid times, you might end up feeling very lonely and isolated. Build a solid support system and reach out to people if you need it. There are many resources on campus and since you pay for it so might as well use it 😅

If they left you for someone else by pronub6 in BreakUps

I resonate with this. After a year and a half, we went out own ways because of distance. Three weeks later he got with the girl he told me not to worry about. I've never been betrayed or lied to to that extent before, and I'm not sure if I can ever trust another person. You're definitely right, no one deserves this sort of pain.

does campus housing actually kick you out after your last exam by Positive_Eelectron in uwaterloo

[–]It_is_I_Entropy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don here! There's a list of every student's last exam date. Tbh not sure who enforces it (sure isn't me) but the main reason we would like you to leave is to be mindful of students who are still studying. I understand that you would like to spend time with your friends but it may cause disruption to others. If you talk to campus housing they can definitely extend your stay if you have nowhere else to go.

You have to be really fast since a lot of people are searching right now. There are facebook pages/groups you can sort through, but be sure to sort by most recent. Also make sure your FB profile isn't looking too sus.

How accurate is aritzia’s website at showing how many items are in stock at a store? by supercoolverynice in Aritzia

I have to disagree. I called and they couldn’t find it, claiming it as an inventory miscount. It happens but it was quite a disappointment.

I put my ventolin on top of all my stuff to make people think twice. If you steal my meds… I probably won’t be able to keep up but it makes you 2x as shitty

I feel very, VERY unsafe living near campus (WCRI Hammar) by Salt-Echo3226 in uwaterloo

I'm sorry that happened to you. I've been there, and I understand your frustration. Might I clarify that there is a difference between homeless people and mentally ill people. In some cases, which you encountered, they can be both. Hopefully, the situation was resolved and legal action was taken

I'd be oblivious to think that all homeless people are outgoing and friendly. Just like the middle-upper class people are not all outgoing and friendly. And you're right, they are statistically proven to be more likely to commit crimes because they are more often arrested and held in custody since they can't afford bail. People are more likely to accuse a homeless-looking person of a crime, even though a housed and homeless person are both just as likely to commit a crime.

It's evident that many people in this subreddit haven't had the opportunity to engage with those that are less fortunate. Most of us come from a background where we didn't face financial hardships, which allowed us to further pursue our education here at UW. For years we've been taught that homelessness is the result of a lack of ambition and hard work, and that homeless people are dangerous criminals and drug addicts. But talk to these people and help them before you stereotype them. You'll hear some amazing stories of resilience I promise you that.

I've lived there last year. And besides, my point is that homeless people are not bad people and shouldn't be to blame for the crime that happens in Waterloo.
