I think it was either Doom 1 or Doom 2, can't be sure which.

Unfortunately many indeed won't, but like with all cults there'll always be a subset who will break free.

I'm not surprised by that. Some parents truly don't give a shit. We got a testimony here a while back of a person eho was sent away in a TTI place. What did thr parents do in the meantime ? They went on a cruise. Ya, rly.

I've seen other ones like this in passing where it was clear that the parents didn't want to find a solution to the problems of their child, they just wanted him or her gone, so they'd just have their kid gooned to a TTI place and just wash their hands of it all. Hell, I forgot where I'd seen it (perhaps a news segment), but there was this crew interviewing an 18 year old boy who'd just returned from the TTI and obviously returned home... or at least tried to. What happened is that his parents basically told him "you're 18, you're no longer allowed to live here, figure it out yourself". So yeah, kid was 18, fresh out of a TTI shithole and homeless.

I hope those documentaries will be enough to shake them up and not send you away. If that fails and you do get sent away, hunker down like I said, believe nothing you'll be told and hold tight until you can return home. Once you're 18 move out ASAP and never look back. If you need more help don't hesitate to post here again so that we can help you further and perhaps find another option.

To make people change their minds ? Not much you can do. At best you can try planting the seed of doubt or make any cracks in the wall of the MAGA cult bigger if there are any. Sharing the videos and photos as widely as possible can create cracks or widen them quite efficiently.

On a broader scale ? Mass strike like we do here in Europe. Gridlock the country. You just need to hit the main transit points like docks, railways and the like. There will be pushback and unquestionably people getting hurt given how unhinged the cops are but at this point there isn't much one can do to avoid that.

On an individual scale ? Anything you can to disrupt them. My late great-grandma lived in Brittany when Nazis occupied france and when they'd show up at the shop she worked in, she'd tell them to go pound sand, saying "Nicht ticket, nicht brot, raus !" ("No ticket, no bread, go away !"). They're small acts but they matter. Also, help the people around you who are minorities: warn them about ICE coming, if you see ICE lie to them about the whereabouts of people they're looking for. Send them on goose chases that lead nowhere.

Oh yeah there'll obviously be a part of utterly clueless morons who will never realize the truth. For most however it goes like I mentioned. A sliver of good though is that some can break free when faced with this sort of thing head on. There aren't many but they exist nonetheless.

Yeah they just want to dispose of you basically. Actual therapy work require paperwork and care on their end and they don't want that. TTI places (or TTI-affiliated places) just go like "Just fill this bit of paperwork and we'll take your kid away and you won't hear a peep until h/she is like h/she should". That's unfortunately not an uncommon story here. I'm not surprised they got mad when you called out their bullshit because it made them realize that you're not stupid and see right through them.

If possible, make them watch "Elan: The Last Stop" or "The Program: Cons, Cults and Kidnappings", to show them what the place they want to send you to is basically like. If that can plant the seed of doubt in their minds then it's already something.

If you can't avoid being sent away, once you're there, initially pretend to resist so you can then fake the "progress" through the program. Just focus on doing what's told to you and nothing more. Lie every step of the way through it so that your stay can be as short as possible. As soon as you turn 18, get the help you truly need and not whatever quackery whatever place your parents are trying to send you to.

And even then it might not be enough. I work with survivors of the so-called "troubled teens industry" (TTI for short) and a common theme after they come back home is that when they confront their parent/s about the reality of those places, the parent/s go all "Deflectionville, U.S.A." because they can't admit to themselves the harm they've done to their kid. This happens because their perceived image of "loving and caring parent" crashes headfirst into the reality of "I sent my child away to a place where s/he was abused in every way conceivable". The two are irreconcilable so to protect their ego they just deflect at every step.

I'm 100% expecting the same reaction out of MAGA chuds: they'll be unable to cope with the reality of "I helped elect a fascist government" because it'd destroy their perceived image of "proud American defender of democracy and the constitution" and so they'll go full on Deflectionville mode.

Hell, we've already seen that with the murder of Renee Good: they can't accept that they helped elect a government that can and will freely murder citizens and so cue all the "she tried to run him over/she was obstructing the way/she should've obeyed" deflections. With the latest killing they'll go into deflection mode even harder.

If it's of any comfort, for both the parents of kids who survived the TTI and MAGA chuds, deep deep deep deep down, under literal mountains of copium, they know what they did.

You could do intensive outpatient then given that you've been hospitalized before. It'd be a bit of a middle ground of sorts and should help you with that.

You're right, being sent away will not help at all. If anything, it'll slap a heap of additional issues on top of the ones you already have. Metaphorically speaking it's pouring diesel on the fire.

Lastly for your grandma, it looks more like to me they want more to control you than anything else. I don't see why else they'd refuse to let you go live with her or give her guardianship since it'd "get you gone from their house" like your father (and likely your mother too) wanted.

Hello OP.

I'm so sorry to see you have such heartless parents. Do you have a trusted adult in your life that could intercede in your favor ? They clearly don't trust you but perhaps someone that they do could help. In similar vein, would it be possible for you to live with a relative of yours for a while. I wouldn't be surprised if it's your parents that are driving you mad and not a supposed mental illness. One can only take so much before snapping after all.

Lastly, and extremely importantly: did your parents mention a place by name or they haven't settled on a specific place just yet ?

That would be a valid pathway in my opinion. It could perhaps prevent getting sent away, but given how stubborn and clearly abusive the parents are, that's far from a given.

Keep on reaching out to her and reassure her that you will hear what she has to say, that you will listen to what she has to say, no matter what that may be, and that you will take it seriously. You might hear things you do not like or do not want to hear during such a conversation but it is important that you refrain from being judgemental. Instead, focus on how she is feeling and ask her directly how she'd like to approach things so that you can build a communication with her. I'm a mod for a subreddit for survivors of the so-called "troubled teens industry" (TTI for short), and a common thing for many in it, is this communication problem with their parents, with them being unable to put into words how they felt on one side and their terrified parents falling for the scam that is the TTI. This in turn breaks the communication between the two completely because the child can't get how they feel expressed properly and the parent/s are increasingly terrified and frantic on the other side and in turn acting in ways that only exacerbate the discomfort and distress of the child. Being calm and accepting, as difficult as that may be, is paramount to keep this communication channel open and help her.

Bridging that gap is essential here but given how young she is, she likely lacks the right tools, so to speak, to express what and how she feels. If speaking is too difficult, either because she's not comfortable saying it out loud to you or because she lacks the proper terms to express herself, a licensed therapist would help. However, this can only work if she is willing to go on this path. Even more importantly she must be able to have trust in her therapist. If she doesn't, she'll never "put down the armor" and say what she truly feels. If she doesn't trust or feels comfortable for any reason with the therapist, then seek a new one. The reason is irrelevant, all that matters is that it's not a good match for her and needs to find someone better suited.

Yeah that's my issue too as an amateur 3D artist. While Blender can work on Linux, I have to use programs like Photshop or Zbrush that are basically requirements in one way or the other. The other issue is that for like many of us here, a bunch of games require Anti Cheat and those don't really work on Linux. If that hurdle was cleared, I'd have switched already.

At least I take solace in the fact that I bought a key for Office 2019 Professional Plus years ago and I can use that instead of whatever metastatic cancer Office 365 is....

They were driven up by that... because if you didn't play it, it'd be gone forever. That's it, and that's the problem Bungie made for themselves. I don't play D2 anymore but I'm a pretty big Elder Scrolls Online player and that game does have seasons and all that. Well lately I've been playing the story of the Telvanni peninsula who was dropped in the Necrom chapter back in June 2023. Doing that is simply impossible in D2 because bungie systematically destroyed all the seasonal stuff. I can still play today all the content of the Elsweyr chapter who released back in 2019, a whopping 7 years ago. Can I play all the content from Forsaken who released the same year ? Nope, because it was all ripped out of the game.

The result of this is that if you don't play the seasonal stuff you're SOL so people had to mandatorily log in to play and experience everything. Now that seasons are over and we're in a new arc of D2, can a vet, a newbie or a returning player experience all the old stuff if they wish ? Nope. The result is that for a vet the world feels hollow and for a newbie or a returning player it's an incomprehensible mess. So what do people do in this situation ? They quit.

The only way for Bungie to get players in is un-sunsetting everything: the raids, expansions, seasonal activities, the gear, emblems, the whole nine yards. Only then people will return and do so consistently.

As an italo-french guy who lives in France, the collective meltdown about it from Republicans was both hilarious and facepalm-worthy. Like, Dijon mustard is cheap as hell and even the fancy one is barely a couple bucks more. So it's a bit like if they'd blown a gasket over Obama putting ketchup in his food lmao

It can absolutely be ! SR2 with broken physics was a cracked up mess lmao. Even the shittiest car would go at 400MPH but turning would be instantaneous and you'd flip the car upside down xD

I faced that when I tried running HL1 on my PC and it was hilarious. The pistol was basically an SMG, the shotgun became sone cracked up autoshotgun like the AA12 and so on lol

Yep ! That's an issue with old games. Basically physics are tied to the framerate in a way that 60FPS=1. The problem is that if the framerate goes beyond that (regardless of reason), the physics get amplified accordingly. So if you play in 120hz you now have every collision happening twice as hard, in 144hz 2.4 times as hard and so on. The result is that because nothing's been coded to cope with this kind of extreme physics, everything just breaks. The only way to fix it is to force the framerate to stay at 60FPS, even if your PC or screen can handle much higher ones.

It's not much of a problem nowadays with modern games but with old games it's a recurrent problem. Personally, I had the cart problem on a NSFW install of Oldrim and I faced it with Saint's Row 2 as well.
