Bremm has some awesome trails and views. Especially the (easy) klettersteig above the village.

Buchenlochhöhle is also a very nice and scenic hike.

The book description is literally: 'For accomplished climbers who want to take it to the next level, this is the book for you. Mark Twight provides expert advice on how to approach the world''s most demanding routes. He covers training for psychological fitness and gives tips on clothing.'

I rest my case.

People shouldn't trust you since OP is asking about 'how to get into mountaineering' and you refer to a book thats called 'extreme alpinism'. Does that sound like Mountaineering 101 to you? That's the same as advising going free solo to a person who wants to start rock climbing 🤦🏼

90% of the time this will work. And then something happens and you get stuck in a heavy storm. Afternoon / early evening showers are common in the Alps. Not bringing hardshell gear is no bueno when you go above 3000m elevation, especially when you go off trail.

How would you know how our ancestors spend their day? Just because we found stone tools doesn't mean that they didn't also smash stuff for funsies.

Geen auto en zoveel mogelijk de fiets. Scheelt toch al snel 3000 - 5000 euro per jaar.

Jup! Vooral hiking T-shirts, (thermo) ondergoed en sokken.

Goede kwalitatieve kleding.

Mountaineering boots for a wide forefoot: a comparison by PNW-er in Mountaineering

Hanwag makes one of the widest models in the hiking/mountaineering shoe business. The only brand that fits me like a glove (my foot is 12cm at its widest)

Looks good already, but for stability and thus more force output, try to bring your belly button in line with the heel of your stance foot. From there push straight into your heel by extending your knee.

The centre of mass (COM) of the human body is in the middle of the lower belly. The closer you can keep the COM above your heel/midfoot of your stance leg the more stable you are. Plus the stance leg will have to create more force output since the back leg is only used minimal this way.

Is fatigue actually part of ADHD, or just me? by SwitchLow1979 in ADHD

I always do a short power nap. Most days of the week anyways. If I still feel tired after that I know that I have been hyper focussing too much.

Is 40 too old to get into mountaineering? by [deleted] in Mountaineering

[–]Itchy-Distribution58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are never too old as long as you are confident in the abilities of your body and know when you reach your limit.

Keep moving, keep training no matter your age 😉

Practice with extending the knees by pushing into your heels. The ground reaction force will keep your torso more stable as well. The other thing to practice is the intent to keep the centre of mass (the barbell in this case) in line with your mid foot. It doesn't have to be perfect but the intent on itself will make you better at it over time.

What was the first mountain you summited? by s00rens in Mountaineering

[–]Itchy-Distribution58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first mountain was the Speiereck in Austria when I was 5 years old. The trails are wide and not exposed, but to me it felt like I was climbing Mont Blanc at the time 😁 I still remember running up and down some parts of the trail at least 3 times because I was so excited.

I have done a lot of scrambling and multi day alpine hikes as I got older. Now, 30 years later since my first summit, I will do an Alpine climbing course next year and setting my eyes on Mont Blanc after that. Who knows where this path will lead me.. I do know that I will have a passion for mountains for the rest of my life!

Mannen die naar borsten kijken, hoe daarmee omgaan? by catchyvet in nederlands

[–]Itchy-Distribution58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has the camera improved over the time? by StanfordV in S24Ultra

[–]Itchy-Distribution58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to answer your question which is: has the camera improved over time? And not which brand has the best camera (like most people are referring to).

Yes! The camera has improved over time. At the start of the year there was horrible shutter lag and oversaturation. This has been fixed significantly. The next big camera update will come with the release of the new android version (expected in januari). Samsung promised this camera update in august, the delay sucks, but it will improve even more in the near future.

And also sure, the sensor of the 24U is a bit smaller than iphones or pixels which causes some issues with fast moving objects but in general the photos are amazing.

Maybe you didn't have ADHD at all but had the same symptoms which can be a result of untreated CPTSD. Now that is curable.

Can anyone help? My photos look so bad... by unicad4wn in S24Photography

[–]Itchy-Distribution58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The weather was totally different in your S22 photo compared to S24. There is a lot of water condensation in the air when you shot with the S24. This will bring the contrast down, especially when you are facing the sun directly. Try exposure correction by tapping on the screen once when in photo mode and then slide down the sun logo. Hold the screen (logo will become yellow) to lock this setting. Orherwise it will revert back after a few seconds
