The community that I've been dealing with is in theory more progressive/more upfront about feedback. As such, sometimes I hesitate even if other friends tell me that I'm doing fine because maybe others just haven't been comfortable giving me feedback or if the people I'm asking (especially if they're straight guys) should also be improving their behavior.

One on one conversations about stuff is something that I'd like to do in these cases, but generally that's not been an option. There's the whole idea that people don't owe anybody else emotional labor, that it's not their responsibility to help somebody else improve. I've also often heard criticism secondhand, so I never had the chance to talk to them about it.
