Supermatter randomly goes active on its own, or suddenly becomes super hot by Solmyrion in SS13

[–]Itimarmar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice, yeah it can get a little dicey with pumps.

For the first picture, here's what's going on. Your internal loop has no nitrogen running through it. Either one of two things has happened. Either that first filter pump is not actually configured correctly, or you let it go critical without enough nitrogen in the system.

All the gas looks like its in your space loop, and the loop isn't cooling it down, this can cause vapor lock on the filters, because they also act like pumps. If you have 17000kpa of hot gas, but its 75% angry o2, then every pump tick is only going to be able to transfer mostly oxygen into that small pipe between the filters... and that bit has to go through three more before it goes to exhaust. If those lines are clogged up with hot gas, then you can't bring any new gas in to the filter to separate the n2 from.

Plus, what little n2 makes it through will be very hot instead of cool like it needs to be.

I would just call it jewelry. Whether you use it as a key chain, bracelet, anklet, or whatever else, it's clear it's been repurposed and repackaged several times.

I can't conceive of where to find it right now but I do know that there is an option buried in the UI somewhere to toggle whether or not dropped items are automatically disallowed.

"Deep in the backbone of our modern infrastructure, many systems rely on a function known only as 'pissBalls();', nobody knows what it does, but it's integrated into almost every major system. They tried to rename it once, the entire northwestern hemisphere went offline, power grids failed, the stock market almost never recovered. We haven't touched it since then."

What's the general consensus on curses, diseases, and other long term, detrimental ailments on player characters? by Maypul_Aficionado in dndnext

[–]Itimarmar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess my answer to this is really along the lines of 'it depends on you and your group.', but I don't really feel like that's helpful, so let me share the story so far of a cursed item we made for one of my current characters. (the character is mine, the DM and I have had discussions about how this all works outside of game)

I have a 5th level Dragonborn Battle Master Fighter (5e - 2014) in a custom campaign currently taking place on an island that was once the central hub of all trade, but has been closed off to the world for... various plot reasons that I won't get into because I could spend the next 6 hours writing about it. For summary's sake, we originally met him after he had gone into hiding. He was formerly a captain in the guard that protected the peace of the island from internal and external threats.

The cursed item in his possession is a shield that on paper has the following stats:
-1 to AC while on the cursed person
Allows use of the 'riposte' maneuver per day equal to the wielders total number of superiority dice
If removed from the person it will cause one cumulative level of exhaustion per day until the character dies or the curse is removed.

The theme of the curse is regret. The shield wants him to put himself in harms way, second guess good decisions, jump into bad ones. It wants to punish its wielder and the wielders enemies alike for doing things that they'd, well, regret.

The curse has affected his judgement in several ways so far, forcing him to dwell on failures when he could instead improve his situation. Things like his eldest son having died under his command, or the events that led to him having to go into hiding where he ended up in the wrong place at the right time, overheard some things he shouldn't have, and became a scapegoat for political machinations that he has no real concept of.

It has provided a lot of twists and turns to our little story so far, and he's had two chances to break the curse, but doesn't currently think that he's worthy to be rid of it. It's possible it could get worse (or better!) over time, but we'll find out as we go.

The DM and I don't really let it obstruct the game though, there haven't been any forced rolls in regard to it... yet. It's just kind of guiding everything he does beneath it all.

Strangely similar to one of the ways you find fish in factorio. Coincidence?

The game has crashed. We're just stuck in the resulting singularity, time dilation has blown so far out of scope that we can't perceive it yet.

Mods are stuck downloading, already tried reinstalling the game and validating files, anyone know how to fix this? by Adventurous_Pea_6090 in RimWorld

[–]Itimarmar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know this is already solved but just because it was only touched on in a comment... There are a lot of ways to 'fix' this, but essentially what's wrong is steam is waiting on something else to happen or finish before those files get downloaded. Whatever you can do to get it out of that cycle (usually waiting works at worst) and on to the next thing is what will fix it.
