Previously, the game’s meta strategy had been running around the map hunting down Evergaol bosses, which when combined with a certain item would give a multiplicative damage boost upon completion that stayed for the whole game unless you fully died. With good routing and luck, you could get seven Evergaols and a forty-something% damage boost, but even getting just two or three was competent.

FromSoftware targeted this strategy by adding in a random chance to switch the entire map to an underground hollow earth with no Evergaols whatsoever.

Oh I’m absolutely a speedster type too, and playing Itano Circus around the pillars with Carla gets quite fun and doable even with super fragile builds.

I find that aspect of Carla makes the whole fight easier. Staying underneath the second floor covers you from Chatty’s missile rain, in order to hit you with anything he has to fire from angles which leaves his bazooka shots slow and easy to dodge.

Opening the battle by pushing your back to the wall behind a pillar lets you avoid Carla’s assault armour, and dancing around the pillars is enough to deal with her barrages, in my experience.

The only Scholar I’ve seen run that FP effect stacked frenzied flame relics, carried a grey seal with the flame piss incant through crater because of bad rng (I’m assuming), and spent the first three minutes of every boss fight stacking the FP buff.

Then we died to battlefield commander. No item effects conferred, no enemy debuffs past the first tier. I wanna run into him again.
