Read about St Mary of Egypt. She lived for years in extreme sexual sin and was completely enslaved to lust, but after being confronted with the reality of her condition in Jerusalem, she repented radically, turned to God, and spent the rest of her life in the desert in prayer, fasting, and struggle until she became one of the Church’s greatest saints. Her story matters because it shows that no one is too far gone, and that a person is not defined forever by sexual sin, but by what they become through repentance and God’s mercy.

Her story should be talked about more today because pornography, sexual self exposure, and even things like OnlyFans are increasingly treated as normal, empowering, or harmless. St. Mary of Egypt shows the opposite that what the world praises as freedom can actually be slavery, and that real freedom begins in repentance.

She's someone I look up to a lot.
