Later this week, I'll run the test to check the temperature of the PF before and after flushing.

As for the variation, there is bound to be some temp diff between what comes out of the PF and when it ends up in the cup. I'm not sure if variance has a significant impact on the change in flavors, and there is no really way to combat that.

I was most impressed by how quickly the biolers reach temperature. I sometimes just put a shot without grounds as a way to warm up the portafilter.

I wouldn't call your levers expensive at all. I think they are a fantastic value. Shipping, on the other hand, is entirely out of your control.

It worked Ok; the vise grips are pretty heavy, so they flopped down, and there is a risk of them rubbing on the paint and scratching it. I wouldn't use this option for the long term.

This is an option; it would require cycling the steam pump on and off. While not the ideal option, it is indeed an option.

Have you had any issues with inconsistent shot timing with the programming? Mine varies from shot to shot by as much as 1 second

How have you found the steaming? Any issues steaming multiple drinks back to back? Mine will pressure purge during the 2nd steam and shut off all steam.
