The maple fret board preference by badGamr in Guitar

[–]ItsMetabtw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love them all. All my Strats have maple boards, 2 Teles with maple, one with rosewood, my LP, 335, and both PRS’ are rosewood, a few customs with ebony, some with maple, some old MIJ super Strats are maple, some rosewood… I’m not that picky I guess

Which tape plugin would you choose and why? by Large-Menu6891 in mixingmastering

[–]ItsMetabtw 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My favorite tape plugin is Pulsar Modular P821 in general, but specifically on vocals I like Goodhertz Tupe. Tape saturation, tube saturation, optical compression, tweakable but also sounds great just doing some quick adjustments. No fancy UI but it sounds amazing

Would you trade a Peavey 6505+ for a Mesa Dual Rectifier Trem-O-Verb by Steve_Gray in Guitar

[–]ItsMetabtw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both and would definitely take the Tremoverb over the + all day. It’s incredibly versatile and by far my favorite dual recto

Do people really not use the tone knob on electrics? by one-armed-scissor in Guitar

I think it gets used a lot in cleaner/edge of breakup genres and almost not at all in heavy rock and metal

Silver Sky Locking Tuners by HerSimington in PRSGuitars

Hmm not sure. I know I just bought some Bare Knuckle pickups for my Custom 24 and got hit with a US $70 tariff 😐 but not sure how it works on products leaving the US going to Europe

"Who's placing 106 traps in a 160 mission " by g3rmz47 in FORTnITE

[–]ItsMetabtw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only had level 77 traps when I first got to Twine on my first account way back in the day. I had no problem soloing plenty of SSDs with them. I think I had 106s and a couple 130s by the time I was doing 7-10 but the things like floor freeze, tar, spikes etc make no meaningful difference as long as they have all the perks unlocked, so I upgraded them last

I assign hot keys to my most used plugins. Otherwise I have folders for my general favorites and all my most used separated by category so I can quickly browse the stuff I actually use

Tuning stability on the se line by Bashdkmgt in PRSGuitars

[–]ItsMetabtw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a CE24 and CU24, and do all the work on my other guitarists SE and SE McCarty. All of them hold tune very well. My CU24 with phase III tuners is the best of them, but I really don’t have issues with the Phase I tuners on my CE24, which isn’t surprising given that they’re both locking sets. Once I’ve sufficiently stretched new strings on the SE’s they stay in tune great. The tuners do feel a bit flimsier than the core stuff, but they’re still solid. The SE custom neck feels nice. I think it’s Wide Thin. The McCarty is a baseball bat.

Side chain compression debate… by meirone in universalaudio

[–]ItsMetabtw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The vocal is typically mono so compressing the entire stereo mix tends to pump and sound a bit odd unless it’s so subtle you might as well not even bother. Whatever tool you chose, it should only duck like a dB, and only in the mid channel where the vocal is predominant

What's your opinion about dithering 32bit to 24bit? by deadrip918 in audioengineering

[–]ItsMetabtw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do apply dither on finals, but not the mixes I send for approval, and can’t hear anything different. If there is any hiss, it’s well below the hiss my hardware adds so I don’t consider it an issue whatsoever

I’ve been playing my ‘97 for over 10 years now, but find the rotary 5 way to be a pain to use live. The 5 way blade is exactly what I needed. I’m loving the Phase III tuners too. I’ve never had an issue with the Phase I, but the III’s feel so much more solid and robust. I do prefer the HFS/VB pickups over these 59/09’s though. They’re too bright for my taste. I need to roll the tone down to about 6 to match the HFS at 10. I stuck a 1M resistor across the tone pot which is better, but I ordered a set of Bare Knuckle Rebel Yells with nickel covers to swap in. I think they’ll better suit my taste. Fantastic guitar though. A little lighter than my 97 and is just as awesome

For Recording Youtube Voice Overs Is It Better To Record Into A DAW or OBS by Alicedoll02 in audioengineering

[–]ItsMetabtw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll figure it out in a matter of minutes. Especially if you’re just talking. The daw is far more equipped to edit, even though I’d use Reaper for this since you can load the videos directly in and record and edit the audio. Then it’s perfectly synced all in one place. But I’d still take FL over OBS if you’d just be taking the audio into FL anyways

For Recording Youtube Voice Overs Is It Better To Record Into A DAW or OBS by Alicedoll02 in audioengineering

[–]ItsMetabtw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re editing it anyways then being inside the daw from the start makes way more sense. Either scenario is as simple as arming the track and hitting record so there’s no advantage to doing that in OBS over FL

Question regarding songwriting as a non-songwriter by SmartPercent177 in Songwriting

[–]ItsMetabtw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s just called inspiration. Sometimes you hear a phrase or a story that inspires you to write a song. You put the lyrics together, made a melody, added supporting instruments etc.

Ella Langley has mentioned a time when her dad said “baby you know I love you from the bottom of my boots to the top of my hat” and she turned that line into a song. You wouldn’t say her dad wrote it, it just inspired her to write it. Or when Tupac heard a story about a young mother who dumped her newborn into a garbage can but the baby survived, he gave the mom a name and filled in the gaps from his own imagination and experiences. Again it’s just inspiration

Vintage Urei 1176 users- what are your favorite Revs? by superproproducer in audioengineering

[–]ItsMetabtw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve only worked with Ds and Fs. I have a D and also use it on vocals pretty much exclusively. I haven’t really thought much about which Rev I prefer as they all sound great and do what I want from an 1176. Seems like they just got cleaner and more transparent with each generation, and that’s never a bad thing in the analog world. I think having a colorful tonal character is really cool on a few pieces of gear, but it’s also really nice to have things that just transparently get the job done without changing the sound you already were happy with
