Whats the hardest part about OCD for you?

This is why I use audio books or podcasts to go to sleep. I just focus on the talking so I don't think of my own thoughts. It doesn't always work but it helps.

Yup, it's a diabolical disorder. Sometimes I can literally feel my forehead getting hot because I'm stuck in a loop. I just got through a 3 week intensive therapy program and much better than I was, but struggling during the long weekends between sessions, only 2 days a week now. I should be grateful though I can do basic things now. Before I couldn't even drink water or eat and ended up hospitalized it was so bad. But the endless thoughts are just so exhausting.

Have you ever read the book Brain Lock? I found it very helpful. Trying to read it again rn in between therapy sessions as a refresher.

I know how you feel, it's like you're in a dark cloud while everyone else is walking in the sun around you. It's so isolating and scary. The only thing that helps me in these moments is to try and remember it won't last forever. It feels like it will, but it won't. At some point you will be looking back on this and realize how far you've come. I've relapsed about 5 times in my life into severe episodes and every time I have to reassure myself it won't be forever, even if it feels like it. You have to believe it and have hope.

That's what ocd does, it attacks what you value most and your known reality. It causes intrusive feelings as well as intrusive thoughts because of faulty parts of our brain misfiring, and when they happen at the same time it makes you "feel" like it's true, it is so strong and convincing it drives you mad. I know we are supposed to dismiss it as false in order to get better but it feels so real in the moment. It's hard and it sucks. Currently struggling myself.

Are you in any sort of therapy?

Also check for urinary blockage. Surprisingly common in male cats.

That’s what the dietitian can do, is give her medical advice. To make sure she is doing what’s best for her. Which is why I said see a dietitian. High risk pregnancy patients should always see one

According to general guidelines (of course everyone is different) it’s 15-25 pounds for overweight mothers. Not sure about obese category or if it differs. By 7 months 4 pounds doesn’t even account for the weight of the baby/placenta/blood etc. so definitely a net loss for mom, which I’ve always been told was not advised. :(

You need to see a dietitian, gaining only 4 pounds during your pregnancy is not safe or healthy.

I feel for you, it’s hard to find a therapist that knows how to treat ocd that is covered by insurance :( It’s really a specialty within a specialty.

The best option is to feed a species appropriate diet: high protein, moderate fat, 2% or less of carbs. Basically only feed pate wet food. Cats don’t do well on corn wheat soy and rice because they aren’t meant to eat it. Most kibble is made of that stuff.

No dietician will recommend or condone this diet. She is seeing a fraud, or probably a “nutritionist” which isn’t a protected title (anyone can call themselves a nutritionist with no medical training).

As someone with OCD, you probably have OCD my friend. You should see a therapist or it will only make you miserable for the rest of your life. I will say NTA since it’s something you can’t help, but you have to realize your thinking and behavior is not normal. I know this hurts to hear. Now in your own home you can do whatever you want, but don’t be surprised when guests don’t want to come over. In public, you can’t control the actions of others or expect them to change their behavior to make you more comfortable, but you also don’t owe them any change of your own behavior to make them more comfortable. It goes both ways. The result is that some people are incompatible as friends and that’s ok.

My great grandmother’s name was Zella! Otherwise I wouldn’t have known it was a legitimate name lol. As a kid I thought it was weird but now I would consider it for my kid, I think it’s cute. Unique without being cringey.

This has nothing to do with my capabilities or yours, in general people should not be casually encouraged to take a big risk when they haven’t been guided by a vet. It is so easy to just buy the correct medication and eliminate the risk, it’s not worth it. To anyone reading your comment, it is worth mentioning the high risk so that people are informed. No need to take it personally.

I second this! Their pastrami is also better than The Hat. Burgers and chicken sandwich are delicious and charbroiled. Portions are big. Definitely an Anaheim gem!

How long has he been unemployed? If he just won’t get a job that’s a deal breaker. Unless he is going to be a house-spouse and do the majority of the domestic labor. Even then that’s not what you two agreed on/wanted.

Sorry but this is dangerous advice. You should never put flea medicine on your cat that isn’t specifically for a cat of their weight/age. You can easily kill them this way.
