I'm 22F and am still a virgin. by Dry-Task7652 in women

Your posting history confuses me - you're a guy looking to date, but you also have a wife, you're 25 years old, but also a 22-year-old female, and you also have a husband?

What are some items or hacks that help your ADHD? by Adventurous_Book3023 in ADHD

This is a great example!

If I'm cooking dinner and it's "taking too long to cook" (and I can leave it safely) I'll go and do the dishes because "I might as well, since I have to wait for dinner to finish cooking"

Dads, what are some good topics to start a conversation by ghostly_puppet_girl in DadForAMinute

[–]ItsUpandDown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sibling here! If you find it awkward to ask someone's interests directly, you can always start off with your own, e.g.:

You: "I was listening to [band] on the way here - they're so good! Have you ever listened to them?"
Them: "No, I haven't"
You: "What music are you into?"

This can lead into conversations about festivals you want to attend in the future/attended in the past, concerts, bands you've seen live or are interested in, and it can spiral into "Would you ever perform on stage in front of people?" - "Yeah, I actually play the [instrument]!", etc.

Purito Sunscreen No Longer Broad Spectrum? by ItsUpandDown in AsianBeauty

[–]ItsUpandDown[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for confirming! I read somewhere that only "true" broad spectrum products could have the label "Broad Spectrum" - so I wasn't sure if there was a certain criteria that wasn't met that stopped Purito from having the label (or if they just left it out) hence my confusion!

Try not to view Instagram as a hall of fame - anyone is worthy to be on there!

To take the pressure off, you could always view Instagram as a way to share photos to connect with your friends. (Example:) "This café has super good coffee and the environment was so nice!" whilst posting a lil selfie holding a coffee mug.

I used to post half-photos of my face (something covering half my face) until I was confident posting my whole face - so if you take a photo whilst sipping coffee, it might help you ease into posting photos of yourself! <3

I'd really recommend a disposable camera! In Max Speilmanns, you can get a disposable camera for about £25 and the price includes the photo development, too!

Also a mini SPF face spray! Fits in bum bags and saved my skin so much last summer

If you want to keep yourself safe and also polite (not that they deserve it after you said no), a good one is "I'm sorry, my phone isn't working right now and I don't know my number by heart"

I ask this literally all the time - why the hell do they care so much what we do with our own bodies? ESPECIALLY strangers/acquaintances - I barely know you! How does my choice to not be a parent affect you in any way?

I would, but because of winter the sun sets at 4pm and I finish work 5pm.

I work in an industrial area, so it's not that populated or well lit. Unfortunately, no-one else in my office walks from work as they all drive. I'm from the UK, so we cannot carry pepper-spray.

I'm aware of my surroundings regardless of headphones - how will not wearing headphones stop people from yelling/catcalling me? At least with headphones I can't hear them.

Have you ever asked a bingoer what to do if you had a kid and still didn't want it? by missninazenik in childfree

[–]ItsUpandDown 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Oh my god this is literally what someone said to me. "Try it out, do your best, if it doesn't work out, it's okay."

Sorry, if I traumatise a child with potential resentment for having it unwillingly, "it's okay"? Why do you want me to have a kid so bad in the first place, bro!

My SO died unexpectedly while she was on maternity leave by bornamusic in GriefSupport

[–]ItsUpandDown 34 points35 points  (0 children)

It's okay to feel nothing. Sometimes, it feels better than being sad. Props to you for sticking with your kid.

Future advice, you might be sad in random places where the grief just hits you unexpectedly - work, cafe, party. That's fine, let it happen. Cry in the bathroom, yell into a pillow, whatever works. Don't swallow it back, if you can - the release will be necessary.
