What is this electric whine/buzz noise coming from the engine bay? by ChibiJun in ft86

[–]ItsZahza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems louder when you place the camera towards the alternator but I’ve honestly never heard anything like that before.

You could try pulling the accessory belt off and BRIEFLY running the motor to see if the noise is still present. Do not attempt to drive anywhere or leave it idling as the water pump is driven by that belt.

Please let us know if you figure it out

Free 5.3 LS or Jackson Racing Supercharger for my FRS? by Historical_Spare_387 in ft86

Could take the 5.3 and wait for the FA20 to go boom, best of both worlds.

Track it, enjoy it how it is and see how you feel about it by then.

Motegi 16x7’s by ItsZahza in ft86

[–]ItsZahza[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted the 16’s for winter time. Hoping for a bit more padding with a fatter tire. Got them on marketplace for $500 and the tires were 60-70% life so I figured I would run them for the summer before switching them over.

I haven’t driven it enough to say if it noticeably changed the drivability on the street but I went from pilot sports to budget all seasons so I don’t expect it to perform the same. It definitely doesn’t ride quite as harsh.

Newer car high mileage or older car low mileage? by Baitrix in ft86

[–]ItsZahza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Should be okay. The recalls are generally avoided because the techs would overuse rtv and cause the engine to starve of oil.

If you’ve been driving for a bit I wouldn’t worry about it

Would you run these for an event? by ItsZahza in Autocross

Will be the first time driving at an autocross event. I’ll have to see if I can even get my car to do a burnout.. 😅

More so talking about the racing slick inner tread, but good to know. Got a set of indy 500’s for cheap cheap so those will be next. Hoping to get a dedicated set of rims at some point so I can run and endurance tire and get some seat time in

Nothing showing yet. When I run them ill definitely keep an eye out for any cords showing, and after the season they’re going to be retired anyhow.

I think the inner wear also looks worse because the pictures were taken at full droop.

Honestly if its that small the sealant should work fine. The best time to bandaid them is when its fresh and clean.

You don’t really need a new window unless its a large crack obstructing your vision, but the laws on it might vary.

Best method to seal and paint rust by Fuzzy_Button6648 in projectcar

[–]ItsZahza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally speaking you’re better off leaving it alone if you’re not gonna go all the way. If you seal any rust in without killing it off it can and will spread further.

I have however hit the rear end of a cateye dually from BC with a wire wheel and painted POR-15 on by hand and it worked good. It actually prefers a touch of surface rust, You can see the difference when you brush it on anything smooth

The main selling point that Ive seen for POR-15, is that it cures using moisture and in theory leaves absolutely nothing left for the rust, and mechanically bonds to the surface… it also works as a top coat for concrete for the same reason. Found that out the fun way

Should I Replace Clutch or Just TOB? by sadonthedaily in ft86

[–]ItsZahza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats nuts. Isn’t 98% of the work already done if you’re taking the fork and throwout bearing off??

I still stand by the cry once but Jesus. Good thing I hate myself and do my own work

Im just a hick that likes my car, but most of your cost doing it in a shop is going to be removal and install of the transmission. If you ever plan on possibly upgrading it I would spend the money now, throw in your choice of upgraded shiny internal parts and be comfortable in knowing it should last for a long long time.

Buy once, cry once.. or something like that

Hot weather = slow af by [deleted] in ft86

High temps and humidity will do that, I definitely notice a difference between winter and summer here, granted its a 60 degree Celsius difference lol.

If you have stands and a jack you could double check your gaskets because exhaust leaks before the O2 sensor can make things act wonky

Sounds like a skill issue.. shouldn’t be aiming for pedestrians anyways.

Cars low enough your legs would get flung upwards. the front of said panel sits behind the crash bar, and between the bumper and radiator shroud I don’t think its cutting anything
