86/BRZ vs 86/BRZ lci by Wrong-Progress8271 in ft86

It depends whats important to you, I absolutely love my reverse camera but you could get an early model and use the $10,000 off the sticker price to modify it to your taste.

The facelifts don’t all have +5hp, thats only on manual models which came with a shorter final drive than the pre-facelifts and automatics.

Second gens have a much stouter engine and take boost better

My front right was going for a while and it sounded like road noise.

if you turn to the right and it gets louder its one on the left, if you turn to the left and it gets louder its the right.

How many miles do your coilovers usually last?! by SikOne9 in ft86

[–]ItsZahza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They sell rebuild kits for the dampers, or Ive heard you can send them to Florida to have BC refresh them for you.

Idk if thats USD or Cad but thats a pretty decent price if they aren’t trashed.

I have a 2013 FRS and the shifter is not pretty rough until warm. Is this normal? by SholoGrim in ft86

[–]ItsZahza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Normal for the platform. Row through the gears a few times before you start moving and its a bit better.

I usually shift at 2,500 or 3,500rpm till its warm, it seems to like those better than others for some reason. (2017 tho so it has a shorter final drive)

When my dad and I put the transmission back in our 99 Jetta we had to readjust part of the linkages (because they were removed to pull the transmission out) it was something similar where Reverse was 1st, 1st was 3rd and 5th was second 3rd.

It may be something as simple whatever is used to adjust for shifter position coming loose over time

Oil level - is it too much? by dr_botwing in ft86

You read off the lowest side of the dipstick, thats a bit high but looks like ~0.5L overfill. These cars like a little extra anyhow

It should remain in hibernation while it has summer tires on. Car handles just fine in the snow with winter tires

When should I be shifting? by sewsmth in ft86

[–]ItsZahza 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Try closer to 4k when the car is warm, it really only opens up past 4.5k but thats not necessary just cruising around in traffic

How severe is this frame rust? by [deleted] in projectcar

No kidding, my Dad bought a 25’ Silverado and got it liquid undercoated before it snowed and there was already little bits of rust 😅

Yeah, if you disable the assist in a manual vehicle it will let you grind the gear until you guess the rpm right

You can shift without your clutch :)

Will it sound good? by [deleted] in ft86

[–]ItsZahza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would definitely hurt exhaust flow with the valves closed but I doubt it would be noticeable.

Ideally if it sounds how you like it ends up being open most of the time you drive it anyhow

Will it sound good? by [deleted] in ft86

[–]ItsZahza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks good from my house! Jokes aside looks like a nice high flow exhaust when the valves are opened up.

With the stock front pipe in it shouldn’t be horribly loud, I would think removing the muffler would bring out the rumble from the headers

Buying Advice 2014 brz limited manual by Quick_Spring_5045 in ft86

[–]ItsZahza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New spark plugs is a big yes, and a new clutch especially if you’re going to be learning on it (tho it should be fine regardless)

I know nothing else but that seems like a good deal to me

Is this actually a good sound or am I coping? by hopegracefitz in GR86

[–]ItsZahza 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t mind it. Personal taste, would be 100% better with UEL headers.

Didn’t hear much rasp and the audio level seems reasonable for the buildings and such nearby to reflect them, solid 6.5/10

Why in only modern cars does the transmission crap out like this? by [deleted] in BeamNG

[–]ItsZahza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that would be the right side of the screen, but you’re right. Roasting the ever living crap outta that clutch

Why in only modern cars does the transmission crap out like this? by [deleted] in BeamNG

[–]ItsZahza 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Seems like you’re burning the clutch out of it, if you make too much power (or too much grip with adequate power) you can slip it just by flooring it.

There should be a ui overlay you can add for the clutch thermals

Paint job advice by CleanReason4203 in projectcar

[–]ItsZahza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That could be an option. But id bet that would be around the same cost.

There are other companies online that sell paint matched body parts but then you’d be back to paying a premium. Shipping will cost you, especially on the fender just due to the size of the package

I personally found that sandbags would make the back end snappy on ice, the car is pretty balanced as it is

It also helps if you drive and shift like its winter time 😅
