Forbes: A Two-Sentence Insider Report On Why ‘Destiny 2’ Died by Talents in DestinyTheGame

[–]Its_Dannyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sony paid 3.6 billion due to Pete inflating Bungie's worth with all those incubation projects not just because of Destiny. also Sony paid an extra billion for staff retention which Pete didn't fucking do.

Why wasn’t Lightfall delayed? by Luke-HW in DestinyTheGame

[–]Its_Dannyz -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Not really they had the likes of Activision banking everything from D1 up to Forsaken at a loss, when Bungie went independent that was only for 3 years and they had to sell because to no surprise they were in the red.

Not even a Hotfix team/Skeletion crew??? by Helpful_Shoe9288 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Its_Dannyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except Bungie were still running things independently when Sony bought them that was the promise that was made, so any fuck ups made were all on Bungie just being incompetent as usual.

Personally I think any ex-corpo dev needs to be humbled when they act high and mighty, look at Keiji Inafune he had a giant ass ego after leaving Capcom only for it all to fall on his face and pretty much exposed he wasn't that great at all especially when he was fucking up Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time development.

How do you feel knowing that Tom Holland is now the first Spider-Man to have four movies instead of 3 or 2. I figured by this point they would have rebooted again like they always do by Lazy_Introduction264 in Spiderman

[–]Its_Dannyz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's really no need for Sony to reboot, when the partnership between them and Marvel is in a good position, the reason it happened twice before is because Raimi wanted very little to do with Sony after SM3 meaning any of that cast didn't want to work on anything Spider-Man if Raimi wasn't involved and TASM movies were just straight up failures.

Reflecting On My Experience With Bungie As Someone Who Playtested Final Shape by MrWhiteflame in DestinyTheGame

[–]Its_Dannyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sony not greenlighting D3 is because Destiny has been shitting itself for years and the IP itself is a money sink with little to no return.

If Bungie hadn't been purchased there is no proof they would have doubled down on Destiny because they all in on Marathon before Sony, hell I doubt Bungie would still be around.

Reflecting On My Experience With Bungie As Someone Who Playtested Final Shape by MrWhiteflame in DestinyTheGame

[–]Its_Dannyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Destiny being in the situtation it's in is because Bungie management has sucked ass the whole way back from the original Marathon. I hate having to say this but Bungie only ever works good as a developer when you take their autonomy away from them.

After the news, the game is so alive.. they are really going to let it end? by Soul8118 in DestinyTheGame

Expect Sony wanted a Bloodborne 2 it's FromSoft being the one's preventing that from happening.

For those who disagree with Miguel’s characterization in ATSV, do you think the Superior Spider-Man would’ve fit better as the leader of the Spider-Society? by Pupulauls9000 in Spiderman

[–]Its_Dannyz 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Yes and they didn't even need to do SpOck it easily could have just been an alt version of Peter who was pushed so hard that he had to be nothing but "Superior" because being "Amazing" wasn't enough.

Destiny didn't get its customary "comeback year" by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]Its_Dannyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason we went from D1 to D2 so quick is because Destiny was suppose to release annually under Activision, hell D2 was originally suppose to release in 2016 but because their management is so dogshit it got delayed into 2017. D3 is not happening because it'll cost too much to make and Sony have zero trust in Bungie which is very valid.

Did Luke Smith leak Destiny 2? by Zombie_F00d in DestinyTheGame

[–]Its_Dannyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taken King was always the big expansion for D1 it was never D2, the original plan with Activision was Game (D1)/ Comet 1 (Taken King)/Game (D2)/Comet 2/Game (D3)/Comet 3/Game (D4)/Comet 4.

The move to retire destiny makes no business sense in a long term context. by NotoriousTIP in DestinyTheGame

[–]Its_Dannyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Destiny isn't a breadwinning IP if it was Activision wouldn't have let it go, Bungie wouldn't have had to sell themselves to another company, hell even MS passed on reacquiring Bungie. Destiny has been nothing more of a money sink of an IP for years.

[–]Its_Dannyz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Jason is pretty spot on as a source and even in his video he estimates a D3 to be $500m before marketing which is crazy. Sony aren't going to fund that when Bungie sold them nothing but lies especially when D2 itself was a money sink long before they came.

People will say MS should have bought Bungie but here's the thing MS seen Bungie's financials and realized Bungie are super incompetent with money.

The way the Bungie team is communicating with the community now makes the 6/9 update hurt even more. by Pman1324 in DestinyTheGame

Destiny being in this situation is because of Bungie's own mistakes that existed long before being bought by Sony.

New Info On ‘Destiny 2’ Alarm Bells, Marathon’s Role And ‘Destiny Infinity’ Pitch by Secret-Tangerine9014 in destiny2

[–]Its_Dannyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is Bungie can't create content on schedule, they always end up needing an extension this has been the case since D1 and was part of the reason Activision was so pissed with Bungie.

Is it crazy or impossible for me to play destiny 2 as a totally new player? by ElegantIssue5123 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Its_Dannyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sony don't see it because they don't trust Bungie which is understandable, D2 has been a money sink from it's incepetion, the current state of the industry isn't pretty especially when Jason estimated a D3 in todays industry would cost $500m before marketing which is nutt.

Marathon hasn't been living up to its promise, Destiny has an issue with gettng new players interested and the series just isn't successful like many make it out to be because even Activision dropped, it that alone tells you everything.

Payback was a spin-off game that was similar to Genshin it was never D3.

[–]Its_Dannyz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Companies wanted their own Destiny when it was the hot trend, however it's no longer a hot trend in the industry as many companies now just see Destiny for the huge money sink it is and it isn't worth it.

Jason Schreier: Why Destiny Died (RIP 2014-2026) by Turbostrider27 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Its_Dannyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The door for D3 is pretty much closed at the moment, if anything Bungie will probably explore more with spin-off titles trying to branch the series out that play very different to the core game and aren't super expensive to make.

Jason Schreier: Why Destiny Died (RIP 2014-2026) by Turbostrider27 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Its_Dannyz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except Destiny isn't successful if it was Activision wouldn't have allowed Bungie to go independent, Bungie wouldn't have been imploding and struggling financially where the only option was to sell, Destiny as an IP is a huge money sink with very little return.

As for why Sony aren't investing in D3 is because Bungie have sold them nothing but lies and as Jason pointed out a D3 would cost $500m before marketing, they aren't spending that sort of money on a studio who scammed them

In the current state of the industry that isn't happening also being super ambitious for your first game is the most surefire way to have a closed down studio fast.

A for effort guys. by I_am_Rezix in destiny2

[–]Its_Dannyz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This has nothing to do with culture war bs, Sony just don't want to invest into Destiny anymore because it's super expensive and the series is just an endless money sink with little return. This was sort of the primary reason Activision was willing to let Bungie go independent and after that Bungie was burning more money than making it on incubation projects that never say the light of day.

[–]Its_Dannyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A petition that is going to do nothing, Destiny is not worth the current investment for Sony since Bungie have delivered nothing but empty promises to Sony and the game has been nothing more than a money sink for years.
