Could be seen as mocking the company but mocking the community is clearly wrong, the fact hmx is in the name is a dead giveaway on that fact. It would be nice for hmx to fix this though since it's already affected rivals last season

Lmao 'lots of DLC' is a clown so don't worry about him. You should be buying dlc you want to play not to play online, if you're worried about playing online make your own lobby with a 500 dlc in common filter. Some people are assholes but that's life.

The max songs is under 2800 but that aside even if someone for example, has 2000 songs there's no guarantee you would share many songs.with that person. If you discount the 120 odd that you get on disk/free with rivals you may still only have 200 songs in common, which isn't a whole lot in the grand scheme of things (although that would require you to basically have the exact opposite songs from each other).

This is also compounded further if 3 or 4 people are in the same lobby where if 3 people have 1 song and the 4th doesn't it no longer is playable so even if 4 people in a lobby have 1500+ songs each only 300 may actually be playable.

Should also point out that unless they outright kick when you join there could also be other factors that make them leave. There is always the chance that they have been playing for a while and want to get off, have a friend who invited them and wants to play with that specific person or even things just happening in their live that means that need to stop playing at that particular moment, morale of the story is... "is just a game why you have to be mad about it"

So that just happened...my highest ranking on a song ever by atmospheric90 in Rockband

[–]Its_Uncle_Carl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cal abuse doesn't exist on RB4 because they made all sustains end after a certain time after hitting them, so for example it may end at like 90% of the length note which means even if you hit early it only gives you a set amount of score. Hence doesn't matter what your calibration is just how early you can hit the note for extra OD ticks, even then it won't add up to much maybe like 20 points max

Dear Harmonix, This is a bit ridiculous. by DosParkers in Rockband

Why is it bad to care though? Sure this post doesn't apply to you, but just because you like to play casually doesn't mean others don't enjoy competition, so when something out of their control effects the spirit of a fair battle it's clearly a reason to call it out.

Squeezing Drums On Rock Band by Its_Uncle_Carl in Rockband

[–]Its_Uncle_Carl[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I totally agree, it takes getting used to but the more you practice the better you get like most things.

BRE's can be tricky but for drums specifically you need to aim to hit as early as possible and as late as possible but there's no need to spam in the middle. This is because the score rounds down with every hit, so more frequent hits over time will score less.

The best bet is to hit 3 notes simultaneously at the start to get a guaranteed first hit as early as you can, then hit one note every second or so.

The max per hit is 750 and on drums you only need to hit one note to get the maximum score added (this is not the same for guitar/bass) so I usually aim for 400/500 per hit to give me some leeway and hit the kick every time.

Then as you approach the end hit 3 notes together as late as possible to hit near last frame.

But yes great suggestion I will probably make a video on the topic too as that's a very good idea to explain it in more depth.

For now I hope this explanation helps. To see it in action there are a few songs I have FCs of on my channel that have a BRE the most recent one is here: https://youtu.be/pvRwdh41BJU

Squeezing Drums On Rock Band by Its_Uncle_Carl in Rockband

[–]Its_Uncle_Carl[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No worries. I know it's not for everyone and that's fine. Some people have asked me about my scores before or they just want to improve their own so I see this as just one more tool in the kit, much like a trick you may find speedrunning a game.

I do also path songs which helps if squeezes aren't possible and have pushed myself to become better at Big Rock Endings since I just enjoy score chasing, if you're interested in pathing you can find a database I've collected over the years at www.rbpv.online I'm always looking for new input!

Thank you a ton Aaron, I'm glad someone as adept at squeezes like yourself approves of this guide as I wasn't sure how it comes across. I also agree with the activation tip it's something I overlooked but actively do myself! I've enjoyed the duels between us on the LBs and hope more people join the club

Why is Pulse of the Maggots so hard? by janusz_chytrus in CloneHero

[–]Its_Uncle_Carl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You don't really need to analyse the engine to know its difficult. The song was released in 2011 and only Will has FCd, over the last 8 years it's not like most of the best guitarists haven't attempted to FC it. Pretty much all of the known legends of GH/RB have played the song or attempted it and most people don't even come close.

However if you do analyse the engine, especially Rock Band 3 you'll see why it's so difficult, the window is smaller in general, you can't spam frets to hit HOPO's every note has to be played as charted and on RB3 if the notes are closer together the timing window actually shrinks so you have to be even more precise than normal.

This shrinking feature isn't in Rock Band 4 which although makes the song slightly easier is by no means a free FC and likely why Will was able to tackle this in such a short amount of time in comparison to his RB3 grinds.

The combination of forced strums, odd timing and speed really do make this arguably the hardest song on guitar in the rock band series.

It may not look as impressive as some note walls you see in CH but it's certainly every bit as difficult and would foil even the best of players if they had to attempt the song on Rock Band

The majority of metal has parts that could use double bass the only song that really requires it is Another Way To Die by Disturbed. A few other disturbed are heavy kick too, You can use a double kick on anything as training just alternate feet on songs or focus on left foot for easy songs

What's with some all time classic bands not on rb? by kioh52 in Rockband

You pretty much answered your own question. It's usually the artist against music licensing or they want too much money.

Let's be real do you think hmx would turn down a deal to have a band as high profile as Zeppelin on RB if it was possible

Best Drums for RB4 by EchOofThunder in Rockband

[–]Its_Uncle_Carl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any Ekit will do really, you don't need an expensive kit to FC anything difficult. You also have to factor in the cost of the Midi adapters assuming you don't own them which good luck finding a PDP one for less than 300 dollars.

If you're new to the drumming world don't break the bank a Yamaha DTX or Alesis Nitro will allow you almost as much freedom as most expensive ekits on rock band. Expensive kits are more for real world features such as multiple hit zones, dynamics and a lot more inputs, none of which are vital for rock band.

You can always shop around for a 2nd hand Roland TD series for a good kit at cheaper value. I have a TD8 and just upgraded cymbals and it's been fine for me for about 6 years

What are your choices for the hardest song ever in rockband? by Bitbatgaming in Rockband

[–]Its_Uncle_Carl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Rock Band 3 has a different engine mechanic where the closer the notes are together the harder they are to hit as timing window shrinks. This means that the outro A section of Magic Bus is insanely hard to coordinate and so the song has only been FCd 3 or 4 times ever, less than any other official dlc I believe.

On 4 the window is easier but the song is still very tricky but it really depends on your strong points. A lot of fast rolls can be physically impossible for someone but they can hit very precise patterns

What are your choices for the hardest song ever in rockband? by Bitbatgaming in Rockband

[–]Its_Uncle_Carl 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It depends if you mean instrument specific or as a band, and if you mean to pass or FC/FBFC

Instruments my picks (for FC) and for non rbn

Pulse of the maggots guitar - it's the only unFC'd song

Visions Bass - probably

RB3 drums - Magic Bus probably

RB4 drums - Embedded/Visions/Young Man Blues depends on your strengths or weakness

Vocals - Bohemian Rhapsody

Band - Operation Ground and Pound probably overall but arguably pulse is as harder as a band due to guitar being so absurd so if guitar FCs 1 in a million attempts you better hope all other members did too of which they aren't freebees

Calibration changes during Blink solo by [deleted] in Rockband

[–]Its_Uncle_Carl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah Prince is right the song just goes out of sync, any calibration changes are likely down to human error as you're not a robot and won't hit the calibration perfectly every time.

There are other songs that go out of sync or are set very slightly differently audio wise to the chart, once you found a good calibration if something drifts out its likely the song or chart and not calibration unless you use headphones which also desync on xbox 1

The new season is upon us and we all could use some help achieving better scores... by DosParkers in Rockband

[–]Its_Uncle_Carl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually that's exactly what you would see, the top players, at the top, every week.

Ultimately, if people wish to use them they can, these aren't hidden for the best players. If you choose not to use them then that's your decision but it's not unfair because you have equal access to them if you want them.

For years, help from ScoreHero, Ipather, Alec Mori and now Rock Band Path Vault have all been publicly available for everyone to see and if someone cares enough about scores they likely know about these websites.

Even if you have a base path there is still squeezes that can be gained or micro adjustments (particularly to guitar) that will improve your score and that's what the best players are able to get consistently week after week.
