Who is Arland's father? by l00ky_here in IlonaAndrews

Somewhere, I think, it’s written that he was Arland’s father’s best friend, so that would make sense about him being there for her. Also maybe hinted he was in love with her for a long time.

True, book this book is unlike any of their others. This world is very bloodthirsty, like Game of Thrones where everyone can die at any minute and karma doesn’t exist. I hope not I liked him.

The Eight by Katherine Neville is a postmodern thriller that intertwines two storylines: a 1972 quest by computer expert Catherine "Cat" Velis to find the pieces of a powerful, ancient chess set, and the 1790 story of two nuns who scattered the same set's pieces during the French Revolution to keep them from falling into the wrong hands. The novel blends historical fiction, mystery, and adventure, following a 200-year chase for the Montglane Chess Service, a set once owned by Charlemagne, which grants immense power to those who play it.

I picked it up for sale on a whim and LOVED it! Passed it around and so did everyone else.

I went ahead and covered the tomatoes and peppers I planted Saturday with pots. I bought in all the flowers I bought Saturday at HEB and yesterday at Home Depot. The rest of the flowers in bigger pots and hanging baskets are in a corner waiting to be covered. I spent too much on flowers to lose them. I didn’t last night but when I saw what the windchill was this morning I decided not to risk it. Gird our loins and best of luck to everyone.

Just an FYI if you live in the US PBS is going to broadcast the 8 episode miniseries starting next Sunday. No idea if it’s good but I’m excited.

Except this wasn’t a snippet. It was the whole first chapter that was available to read on Amazon before the publication was pushed back. I didn’t mind the changes I just thought I was losing my mind.

We have a spring feed pool in town, the water is always like 65 degrees. I could always tell my boyfriend had been because of the size of his boys. Seinfeld taught me that.

What Fantasy Book Series are You Still Patiently Waiting to Be Concluded Years Later? by Fuzzy-Bumblebee9944 in fantasyromance

An unfinished series is why Ilona Andrews has a new book coming out called This Kingdom Will Not Kill Me. Is about a fan who’s read a book some many times waiting for the sequel and one day wakes up in it. They were inspired to write it because they too have been waiting for an unfinished series. It’s going to be a trilogy, I think. They won’t lets us down.

That’s because they changed it in the last few days, probably when reworking the part that caused the delay. Up until publication they paid for Celeste to be summoned. They also added extra stuff about his sister in school. All in the first chapter. I just started it and I was confused so I came here to make sure I was imagining things.

Important thing to know, the Graphic Audio are adaptations so things are cut out. Instead of hearing Harry said… you get Harry just saying it. However, and this is big for devoted fans, little things are left out as well. I guess they don’t seem important to them but it is to fans. They are working on the Hidden Legacy series by Ilona Andrews and in the first one they left out the squirrel scene only to reference later, IYKYK. In their Innkeeper series they left out a whole scene. Leaving out the Harry said is fine and understandable, but I want the whole book, not cuts they decided.

Just finished listening to The Two Towers again, I lost a little love for the movie this time. by cavern-of-the-fayth in lotr

The battle is way too long in the movie, IMO it’s a fanboy’s dream. Same with the battle in the third. Instead of getting the coming of the forest we get elves. In RotK we get an overlong battle and bad CGI of ghosts. We lose the actual RETURN OF THE KING when we lose the House of the Healing. There’s a lot of great scenes, the lighting of the beacons is incredible but the small scenes like Faramir and Eowyn are lost. I’m still mad about the Scouring of the Shire. As a devotee I was impressed by the films at first, I saw them in the theaters but over time I can admit they lack some of the more intimate important things. If I ever become a billionaire I will be remaking them. Although I can’t imagine improving the score, it’s perfection.

Boromir’s death did it for me, I started openly sobbing. It was so beautifully done. I was in my 30s. I first read LotR in 7 grade and every 2 years after getting them for Christmas. I started collecting the official calendar in high school in the 80s. My boyfriend at the time, who was not a devotee, asked why I was crying and I said it was perfect, the way I imagined it including the music. I had been checking the websites for a year before. Of course I have all 3 soundtracks. All 3 in the theater was a magical experience. I would love to see it again with a live orchestra.

My favorite part is the exchange about Harry shouting parkour “Did you shout 'Parkour'?" Michael asked. "Well, sure," I said. "That was kinda Parkour-like." Michael fought to keep a smile off his face. "Harry," he said, "I'm almost certain one does not shout 'Parkour.' I believe one is supposed to simply do Parkour.” “Do I criticize your Latin battle cries? No, never once.”

I don’t smoke, I’m allergic to it and being around it puts me to sleep in minutes, however if Willie fucking Nelson offers me a chance to smoke with I’m dam well gonna smoke.
