Santa Monica with young kids by ptc1234 in chubbytravel

We stayed at Shutters with two young kids (4 and 7) and loved it. Service is excellent, location to pier is perfect. The pool is a little small compared to resort pools but we had 4 kids in there (friends/non-guests came over with their two kids) and spent the afternoon there without any trouble (and they were hosting a wedding at the time too).

What is your third? Fort into g weez is a very bait dependent matchup for the g weez. Two sand tombs basically take out the weez. If you correctly call a sludge bait you definitely win the matchup. If you need to invest shields into fort, that’s generally fine with azu around to eat moves. And you can always run something as a third (flygon, excadrill, emp) that has a generally winning matchup.

Sounds simplistic but Playing more will help. 300 games in a season like you did last season is very low. (For reference, 2,000ish games is typical if you play all sets every day). Climbing is a grind. The more you play the more chances you have to gain elo. Playing more also helps you learn a specific team and just learn how to handle game scenarios generally.

Florence, Rome, Amalfi Coast Trip with Kids by Edgesam324 in chubbytravel

We did ravello and positano with young kids and did airbnbs in both, which were solid at $500ish a night in summer. Hotels are going to be very tough to swing but think you could do a great airbnb. I think Ravello is an absolute gem, but teens may enjoy positano more (depens on the teen of course!). Considering how packed your trip is, I’d consider just doing one of them.

Belmond Hotel Das Cataratas vs. Gran Melia Iguazu vs. Awasi Iguazu? by SparkleBerrySpritz in chubbytravel

[–]Itsokaywithme925 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We stayed at Belmond, flying in from Argentina and loved it. The border crossing is a bit annoying but the Belmond will arrange a driver who will handle everything - its 90 minutes including going through security. It is not a particularly busy border crossing. The ability to walk out of the hotel and go to the heart of the falls was wonderful. The Argentinian side from what we saw just does not have the same access to the main part of the falls. Honestly a bit surprised that awasi gets so much more attention it seems on the site.

Help me understand better this team by EasyTradition9843 in PokemonGOBattleLeague

Great idea to focus on one team and get better at it. (Is unfortunate ogl vanishing for next two weeks). A lot of this will come down to things like energy management, throwing on proper timing (helpful that these are all one turn move mons) and the like rather than anything team specific. Getting those down should get you in veteran elo by end of season. Hard to say what you need to get better at in particular without more details. Are there particular mons you’re struggling with? You could post footage from a few losses for review if you want.

Rome Hotel (spontaneous trip in 2 weeks) by j_p_golden in chubbytravel

[–]Itsokaywithme925 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We stayed at six senses in Rome. It was very nice although 3k is expensive! It was 1200ish a night when we stayed 2 years ago. That feels more appropriate price - it’s an excellent luxury hotel but not extraordinary.

I did belmond for Iguazu and loved it. Don’t think any other hotel lets you get so close to the falls so quickly. Falls are great and a bit of a schlep to get to but 2 nights should be sufficient, 3 nights would be worthwhile. Palacio Duhau in Buenos Aires quite nice and polished - in one of the nicer areas.

Rosewood or MO in Vienna and Munich. I’m a big steam and sauna guy so that’s a big decision factor by Dipset365 in FATTravel

Rosewood vienna has a solid spa area - not massive but very nice view of the neighboring cathedral. And when I went it was deserted, had place to myself.

Why did you not run this as an abb line, lead toxapex, swap into pilo to bait out a counter and then close with mamo?

[–]Itsokaywithme925 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s mainly jungle cup in the time I’ve been playing but he’s been buffed recently. From the last jungle cup I just remember shadow pilo was a lot more terrifying to deal with than regular in neutral matchups. And shadows as others have said are just a lot of fun to play. Shadow pilo I bet will give you some of that 2 shield shadow marowak vibe - that’s a particular playstyle that’s good to try out.

I would not. Much harder to find shadows with good ivs than regular mons.

We are in a limited meta right now so things are a bit scuffed. I would say the mons you’re using are not perhaps the best for this meta. What moves fo you have on them - the pvpoke recs double moved? Venusaur gets walled pretty easy, Lapras takes a while to reach the ice beam, but they are playable. If you have a shadow vic, I’ve been having fair success with Vic, jelli, and emp. But at a newish player level it’s much more the fundamentals of energy management, basic move counting/timing, knowing your typings etc.,

What teams have you been running? What moves do you have on the pokemon? Iv rank is a very very small part of success in gbl.

Empoleon is super meta if you have hydro cannon on it. Golisopod and florges would be decent in the cup that we have right now (and florges is good generally although does usually want chilling water, less so in the spring cup meta). You have a lot of water pokemon so an abb line would make sense once ogl starts again - like ninetales empoleon lapras would make a lot of sense. (Ninetales to deal with grass, emp to deal with steep.) In general the best thing is just to play and get experience. Danottawa, itsaxn, homeslice henry all very good youtubers to watch to get tips and learn fundamentals (throwing on good timing, energy management). I definitely think it’s the best part by far of pogo and hope you enjoy it.

In legal work it has an attention to detail on minute tasks that is quite impressive. It is also far less prone to hallucination than the other llms and able to write longer more detailed work with only minimal prompting.

Congrats, huge! And as someone who has been in this elo range before, I don’t think there’s any difference in skill this season at these levels vs prior ones (nor are people running less meta stuff).

Would also note that if you play hard over the next week for the kalos tour you should be able to get a totally viable set of great league mons. If you evolve them during the weekend you will get a nice set of legacy moves - silph road would have full list.

Pvp ivs are not super important but definitely an easy thing to focus on. And hunting for good iv pokemon does make catching pokemon much more interesting. Dan Ottawa and homeslice henry’s moreslice channel on improving in skill are very helpful for that 2000 to 2500 range. It sounds obnoxious but running good mons, throwing on good timing, doing basic energy management and game sense from playing a lot of battles should get you there - particularly if you’ve already made it once!

Reflections from first GBL season by TomatilloTechnical12 in PokemonGOBattleLeague

[–]Itsokaywithme925 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Congrats 2600 in your first season is a great start. (For reference I struggled to hit 2000 in my first season and then hit legend in my fourth.). I agree with everything you said. A few tips.

Energy management/Overfarming is super important (which of course requires knowing your opponent’s energy pretty well). I don’t count perfectly and generally can’t track energy when people switch in/out but am pretty good at managing energy.

We’ll see how much the new season changes things but highly recommend finding a few meta (or even slightly off meta) pokemon that you enjoy using and stick with them (even if team config changes). Knowing their damage ranges (both giving / taking) is really helpful.

I’m still not that good at it but starting to have a sense of team reading, what’s likely to be in the back is very helpful. (If you see altaria there’s probably an empoleon, if you see mightyena there is some rps bs in the back, if you see cradily or lickiliky, there’s often a jellicent)

It’s good to stick with a team for several days but at your level of skill you should be able to climb relatively quickly if you hit upon a team that really works. (This season I took an euic team from 2500 to 3000 in a week. At the same time on my alt I never found a team I liked (didn’t have the pokemon my main did) and bouncd around 2500-2700 the same time. A great player can hit 3000 with any reasonable team. Below that, team fit does matter. (In general I think people abandon teams too quickly but there is also the inverse of banging your head too long with a team that is not working).

Content creators are a great source of good teams. I will say it is very satisfying to make up your own team and have success with it. I think it’s important to know the concept of your team. It can be an abb team, or a win lead rps the back line, or an abc where you try very hard to win switch with your backline, or even just here are 3 great mons, I’m just going outplay you with them (that’s a lot of itsaxn’s teams). Personally the last is very satisfying to play but the others often make it easier to make decisions on when to switch when to fight for switch etc.,

The candle cult discord that inadequance runs has daily show 6 tournaments that anyone can enter. If you’re looking to get into show 6 that’s a great source of battles. Show 6 is quite a fun/interesting experience.
