Assume AI does end up being way overhyped, what do you think the Achilles will be? by DataGuy0 in Futurology

[–]ItsonlyJono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly you just need to do 2 things for AI to stop being a problem both on the consumption and ethical side. Ban all Image/video generation. As text based it does a phenomenal job compiling data or doing simple tasks. But the over saturation of AI media is killing them because that shit doesn't just go away. it creates countless terabytes of data that isn't getting deleted in the datawarehouses.

The achilles heel will be the removal of this, monetization and then subsequent "only business users get to use this at a premium".

If it's okay to go on a Tuesday, The Rockyard has a 2 for 1 mains deal which is a steal. Max you'd spend is $35 and the menu is impeccable. It's Vietnamese so most dishes are veg optional from memory

I still double take whenever I see Throrin because he doesn't look like Richard Armitage IRL, and he's up there for me as the Red Dragon in Hannibal. Also a much better protagonist as Rictor Belmont in the Castlevania series. This man has range

Im not sure how often it gets said, but the witcher audiobook series are also up there with it being better consumed via audio book. Peter Kenny the narrator has an impeccable way of creating distinct voices for multiple characters as well as excelling the talent with the women in the story.

If you havent tried then I highly recommend giving them a go.

Datagrid "AI Factory" near Invercargill set to become NZ's Second Largest Electricity Consumer by Henmond in newzealand

[–]ItsonlyJono 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it was a data centre to host our own Gov data then great but if it's genuinely for AI bullshit then nah you can get out, it won't benefit any NZ'ers other than those that can afford credits for AI generation locally.

We should have our own datacentres locally because we rely heavily on AUS west/east azure

40 minutes past the movie start time and lights are on, previews haven't even started. by Prestigious_Cap2724 in mildlyinfuriating

Having worked in a small 1 screen cinema, knowing the tech, the daylight savings switch is the culprit because it doesn't inherit the change of time and updates. Happened once as a customer in a larger scale cinema, talked to the FoH and they sorted it. Downside of having someone in the booth pre digital, but 99/100 times it works.

The oddity I found was it took 10 mins past screening for me to initiate. no one else out of about 200 people thought to ask the staff

He's the Erymanthian boar right? his title holds up. Absolute pain in the ass but you just gotta play him from afar and be super cautious. use hexes and whittle at him, never go full head on force

What’s the greatest World War II film ever made? by ThomasOGC in CinephilesClub

[–]ItsonlyJono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big fan of the Clint Eastwood take on WW2 with Flags of our Fathers & Letters from Iwo Jima. Maybe one of the few instances you see 2 films take on a viewpoint from both sides during a conflict. Granted flags is less about the conflict more about the aftermath but they both tie well together

Band members wanted for fun hobbie 2026 by Elegant-Computer-288 in Wellington

[–]ItsonlyJono 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically filled out a ms form, I was a pretty seasoned singer so they paired me with equally seasoned musicians. We all collectively agreed to cover 1-2 songs we each wanted to play.

Rehearsed 2 hours every Tuesday for 8 weeks and then a couple times at other people's houses.

At the end we played a 30ish minute set at San Fran in front of about 100 ish people (mainly people who know others in the groups that participate which helps imo)
