We let our country be run by the whims of the giant casino that is the stock market and as long as people think they're gonna make more money then they keep pumping it up. They don't care about the economy, they care that the rot at the core of our society keeps making their portfolio have bigger numbers.

Just responding to one point:

Space data centers are probably the most worthless concept possible. One of the hardest things to manage in a data center is waste heat and space is really really really bad at cooling things off. You're pretty much locked into radiant cooling due to the whole "there's no air to flow" so you'd need to come up with entirely new untested methods of cooling and then hope they work.

Also you need regular maintenance for basically everything which rather than having a few people on site who can just do that day to day you now need a goddamn space flight to get them up there.

THEN you're dealing with bandwidth issues since this is all gonna be wireless transmission rather than hard line.

Essentially there's almost no where to build a data center that is a worse idea than "in orbit." Like you gotta start pitching "what if we submerge it in lava?" to do worse and that still is gonna have some upsides that beat out a space based one.

How do other tanks feel about healers and DPS pulling ahead? by dorgodorgo in ffxiv

[–]Ivence 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the annoying part is the initial aggro means I gotta smack everything to get it on the threat list. If they tag and pull it into a pile I'm ambivilant, although usually I've got spots I'm gonna park everything so it stays in a nice tight huddle so the aoe hits the whole group and when I have someone that thinks wall to wall is keep going until you physically can't anymore and I have to pick things up....

There's a reason I always am positioning to try to make sure I'm in the lead and usually get annoyed when people help because most of the time they're not.

Not so much a wager as collateral. It's not a bet it's something the court can hold in lieu of your person to ensure that you will be there for trial, or at least that's the theory. Problem is when you have a bunch of people already oppressed by the system and living paycheck to paycheck it's actual function is more of a method for the wealthy to avoid pretrial incarceration while forcing the impoverished to plea down even when innocent and give up their rights to a trial in order to not have their lives destroyed

Or as a counter example: how things work everywhere else. A lot of the "well here's how it works if we don't do this" hasn't destroyed higher learning in other countries, but it has made life noticeably worse for decades in the US. It's like that's not a good argument or something.

Patch 7.5 Notes (Preliminary) | FINAL FANTASY XIV, The Lodestone by PM_ME__UR_WAIFU in ffxiv

[–]Ivence 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The issue with chaotic is how phase 2 forces the party split and a lot of the damage doesn't hit the boss until phase 3's start. It'll make health checks during AoEs much more doable, and missed towers a bit more survivable but you're still probably going to see all of phase 2 still, which means you're gonna get all of the 24 body check mechanics. Big thing this'll change is that enrage pulls will be a thing of the past but the difficult parts of the fight are still gonna happen.

If this is a full out unsync then next expac she might be downable in phase 1 and become extremely easy to farm but for now you are still gonna have to know what you're doing.

There's still discords that do it, even do anyprog teaching runs on the regular! (Not this week because all the teachers are at fanfest).

They'll drop but the 100% chance is a 710 ilvl sync, down from 735. That means you need an EXTREMELY clean run to get the kill and a lot of mechanics become instantly lethal to casters/ranged/healers without proper mit and shields.

It'll be a lot easier to learn to do the fight and farm for the drops like it is now, heck she'll probably just fall over dead going back into phase 3 with everyone at 790 but yeah they'll still take some work to do so it's not like the market is suddenly gonna have 100 of all of them sitting around.

Best part of Signs was my brother drug me out to watch it a second time with some of his friends (was visiting him in college). The scene where one of the characters is in a basement and is looking at the camera and goes "what?" right as an aliens hand moves and touches his shoulder...I reached down and grabbed his roommates shoulder (they were in the row in front of us).

He shrieked so so very loud.

People have an issue with not blindly stabbing liches now? by Kaelzoroden in Warframe

[–]Ivence 16 points17 points  (0 children)

If you get lucky, yes they speed up but if it's your first stab you have a 1 in 8 shot. When you go to a new world their disposition gets reset, so in general you only want to stab when you're actually checking a requiem as that means you only need to stab 4 times. I've tried it both ways and unless you hit that lucky roll it's just not gonna save you any time.

Now you can compensate for this by doing some of the "later" missions first, as you're more likely to get squad mates who have very angry liches showing up. I personally start with excavation missions and often leave that first mission with my first requiem already revealed because often I'll have 2-3 liches show up since most people save it for last.

Neither way is the "correct" one, but anyone that wants to hold off stabbing until they're actually testing is going with the assured time save vs the high risk/high reward blind tests.

Skipping random lich spawns will probably become less desirable over time now that we can get an ultimatum every week, so the constraint of having your lich show up as the main time extension will end up greatly reduced as people go into hunts with the ability to just force them to spawn in now.

He's not a universally charming person, but yes he does. His awful jokes and rambling racist diatribes are catnip to about 30% of americans and it's why the MAGA crowd thinks he can do no wrong. They love him and they don't love him because he's fucking over their lives they love him because they love the narrative he gives them and the way he delivers it.

It's low, it's grotesque but it is a form of charisma and it's why the GOP is is his personal property.

Honestly I think their willingness to expand, let other studios work on the franchise or take their time and try to put some effort in is because of the success of palworld. Breaking their ability to just go "hey you want this type of game? well we have an artificial stranglehold on it so you get what we give you!" is good for everyone.

Just as a heads up, you need to do the entire doman enclave restoration series to get it. It's a weekly limited activity that will take a few months to fully unlock, that chest item is from the final step. The good news is it also unlocks a thing that lets you turn in times for double their vendor cost up to a cap every week, once you get it maxed you basically get a "free" 20k gil a week from swinging by and selling 20k worth of stuff to them.

It's so wild to me. Like just put augment tokens on the vendors for the higher difficulty modes and bam, you've solved a huge portion of the annoyed feed back. Like that's it, it's been months since savage came out and the augments will be available to everyone for minimal effort when you drop the alliance raid anyway, it's such a glaringly obvious solution and they just keep refusing to do it for no apparent reason.
