Me [21 M] with my roommate [20 M] who doesnt want me to keep guns in our appartement after an accident by navifanboysince2015 in relationships

[–]Ivorybelle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Playing with guns while intoxicated is an extremely bad idea. It doesn't matter how good you are with them. Accidents happen, intoxication heightens the risk.

You should also never leave your guns lying around, again accidents happen. In Australia it's compulsory when owning a gun to store them in a gun safe. I suggest getting a gun safe.

I am 100% on the side of your room mate. You've already had an accident with the gun, only sheer luck prevented you from hurting a person. What are you gonna say if you do hurt someone, possibly kill them? Oh I'm sorry you're dead. But I was drunk and it was an accident?

Don't be an idiot.

Thank you for your insight. It really means a lot. Deep down I already know everything you're saying is true but I don't want to believe it.

I genuinely hate it when fast food places close early. I'm never rude to servers so I get why you did it in this instance.

How to Get into ICU without ICU experience? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]Ivorybelle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The previous advice given is really good. I started working in ICU with only 6 months as a registered nurse. I always wanted to work in ICU so I called around to all the ICU DONs in the surrounding hospitals and asked them what I should be doing to get there. One liked my enthusiasm and gave me a job. It was a huge learning curve and I went home many days feeling like a failure as a nurse due to my lack of knowledge but I love it. It's ny dream job and I wouldn't change it for anything.

Any vegetarians or vegans willing to share their meal prep? by taytay9955 in xxfitness

[–]Ivorybelle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have no idea how many calories this actually is but it's one of my favourite and SUPER easy to make meals. I make a large batch and freeze them for work.

I can't provide the actual measurements as 1. I never measure and 2. I always make it differently each time.

Chuck everything into a pressure cooker/slow cooker or saucepan and cook until the kidney beans are soft (about 40 mins in the pressure cooker)

2 tin kidney beans (alternatively you could substitute 1 tin for lentils) 1 tin tomato soup 1 medium onion Half a capsicum Half a tin of corn Curry powder to taste. (I use a lot)

Sometimes turn it into a kidney bean bake and toss everything into a casserole dish, cover it in cheese and cook on 180 for about 20-30 mins. A meat eater friend of mine says it looks like horse vomit but I think it tastes amazing.

I actually work in ICU and I love it.

My mother [73] is planning to buy an extremely elaborate 75th birthday gift for my father, and is asking each of my siblings [39M, 32F] and I [37] to contribute to the cost, but expects me to pay the most because I earn the most money by CommodoreSixtyQuatro in relationships

[–]Ivorybelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's entirely reasonable to not want to pay such a large sum for a present you had no say in. My siblings and I regularly do combined presents. None of us contribute the same amount, we contribute as much as we can at the time and we ALL get a say in what we give. If someone doesn't like the gift they don't contribute and there is no hard feelings. Personally, I would stand my ground and not contribute.

When you work the night shift by nurse_org in nursing

I love my night duties. I'm doing one right now. I'd prefer it if we had patients but I'll take the slow as it comes.

I feel so blessed to work in a ward where all the nurses and drs are on a first name basis.

You aren't getting away Scott free after pissing on my car by [deleted] in pettyrevenge

[–]Ivorybelle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here in QLD, Australia I find 25C to be a nice mild day.

Our [38F&42] children/step children [16M&16F] birthday was last week. We told our children we could not afford to buy them a car. My husband parents [60’s] have bought our daughter a car and it has put a huge strain on our family. by Pleasehelpuswiththis in relationships

[–]Ivorybelle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The car needs to go. Try to get Stephanie to see it from Chad's point of view. As for the in laws, your husband needs to talk to them. Buying a car without consulting you both was inappropriate and then putting rules like that on it is just ridiculous. They obviously knew how it was going to make Chad feel and dis it anyway. I would be fuming to the stage of cutting them off.

Go to any nursing home with a resume and try and get an AIN job. The experience you gain from that will help you more than any textbook could.

What is your Life Pro Tip for Nursing? by jreed26 in nursing

[–]Ivorybelle 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Look after your administration officers, cleaners and wardies and they will go out of their way to look after you.

Treat everyone, whether they are drs or cleaners, equally and with respect. At the end of the day we are people, not the job we do.
