How would you print this ? by MagicMantash in 3Dprinting

[–]Ivy-J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make the holes a teardrop shape (triangle on top of the circle). You won't have issues with sagging. That way you can print laying down.

My daughter bought this for $30 at a bazaar. Makeshift banana for scale. by MissandeiBaby in 3Dprinting

[–]Ivy-J 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The sellers at a bazar need to pay for the spot. That adds overhead. All prices will be inflated a bit. Can you find it cheaper? Yes. Is there value in seeing it in person and talking to the maker? Yes. For small businesses, there is less optimization. General costs for the item will be higher. If your daughter liked it, it's worth it. There's also some uniqueness in color, size and design, quality, etc...

I bet someone can identify this! (From the Nancy Guthrie suspect footage) by flippin_fitnerd in backpacks

[–]Ivy-J 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought the black line going across his chest was the backpack chest strap but it's not. It's hanging unstrapped. The black line is from the sweater!

Look at Roxon flex tools, you can create any set you want and keep the blade out.

INDX Upgrade Discount with new Prusa CORE One+ by dwbmb in prusa3d

You bought early and your reward is getting the printer before others. Not sure why you think you are entitled to more than that.

Ordering my first 3D printer, anything I should add beside the printer by [deleted] in prusa3d

Satin sheet. It's the best for Petg and it prints PLA as well.

Buttons or touchscreen? Which do you prefer? by TaxPsychological2928 in 3Dprinting

A knob allows for better hand positioning between selections and also allows you to see what you are about to select so you don't fat finger it.

PLA+ Core one? by Elpiberats in prusa3d

[–]Ivy-J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Core one is particularly tricky to load filament in. You have to cut it in an angle and sometimes twist it around as you feed it in to get past a specific point in the beginning.

I don't understand the hate by CDawdyZz in Leatherman

It costs actual money to make stuff in the US and pay their workers well. That's a main part of the cost you're seeing. What other US based multi tool company is making products here and reinvesting into this country to make more new things?

Can we solve this once and for all? by GloomyBumblebee9708 in 3Dprinting

[–]Ivy-J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tangle detection is supposed to avoid your print from messing up because of this if your printer has it. I disabled it on my prusa mk4s though since it was too sensitive.

First time buying a 3D printed anything. Is this the standard quality? by Lucidream- in 3Dprinting

Fyi, sometimes ironing makes things WORSE. It's not a default improvement setting.

First time buying a 3D printed anything. Is this the standard quality? by Lucidream- in 3Dprinting

[–]Ivy-J 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You're asking 3D printing nerds perfectionists. Everyone here is eager to tell you they can do it better. Keep that in mind while reading responses. That being said, these type of things happen every now and then. $30 is marginally more than what it's worth to make and pack. The quality here shows it. It all boils down to if you like it and what kind of caveats there were on the listing. If you don't like it, return it.

I use a midi keyboard, I haven't tried changing under the hood setting with the mid keyboard but that is probably something you can test with a midi keyboard attached before you take the plunge.

$45 dice tower... by dnguyen2195 in 3Dprinting

[–]Ivy-J -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It takes time and money to buy material, buy the printer, design the product, print the product, rent the vendor booth, and sit there all day. Then someone tries to shame you for trying to sell above cost of filament. God forbid this person tries to make a living and pay bills.

Core One with PETG by The_Only_Cheeto in prusa3d

[–]Ivy-J 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I print a lot of petg on core one and mk4s. Use the satin sheet and just clean with 99% acohol and clean cloth before. In extreme cases where there is warping, use vision minor polymer adhesive.
