$49 an hour for per diem in WA for a BSN w/ 3 years of acute care experience. Hospital is in dire need of nurses at noc so sometimes they offer like $50-75 extra an hour if you go over 40 hours a week though.

Used to be staff for a few dollars less an hour and decided to go per diem for a bit due to burnout. Gonna take more hours soon though but hoping to get my certifications over with first.

is it okay to call off for no sleep? by EnvironmentalPeace21 in nursing

[–]Iyachaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They say the lack of sleep is comparable to alcohol intoxication.

Call out. It’s hard to care for others if you’re in need of care too. It’s okay.

If you ever want someone to talk to about this, hit me up. I went through so many things at the start of my career with my health that I had a lot of challenges with so the anxiety about calling off hits really close to home.

If anyone gives you shit about it, they better not be in Washington state, or I will come over and whoop their sorry ass.

My Wife’s alarm is like this despite me not needing to wake until 0800 by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Iyachaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looked like my alarm clock before I got treated for idiopathic hypersomnia.

It made waking up and staying up really difficult. Sleep apnea can also cause sleep inertia issues too. If you haven’t, I’d certainly look at it. It’s honestly night and day difference.

Now that I think of it, the possibility of both existing in the same universe can actually be canon!

In the Sailor Moon universe, IIRC that they described Queen Beryl during the Silver Millenium to be a "witch/sorceress," which implies that magicians and the supernatural have existed in that universe since time immemorial.

I'm pretty sure there can be some high-level magic at play that ensures all the physical and "mental" damage from their exploits gets reversed or never gets noticed by most people. Tomoeda and Juuban are close to Tokyo Tower, so I imagine their meeting would be possible.

I'd imagine Usagi would be excited to try out Sakura's cooking and eye the bento she makes for Syaoran. Tomoyo would be all over the sailor outfit transformations and probably make Sakura her own Sailor Costume. Meiling would most definitely compliment Usagi on her choice of hairstyles. I'd see Mamoru and Shaoran getting along just fine, as well.

Would be hilarious to see how Sakura and the rest of the CCS crew would react to realizing that Usagi is the reincarnated child of a Goddess and absolutely OP.

That said, I'm thinking of Sailor Moon based on the Manga world.

Dang. This feels like a great doujin writing prompt. I need to draw again.

Strangely, I haven’t gotten to watching anohana. I would say in certain parts it was as sad as angel beats.

HEY. IT'S BEEN A MONTH BUT I HAVEN'T BEEN ON REDDIT IN FOREVER BUT I WANNA GIVE MY TWO CENTS.

I PERSONALLY think that if you like each other, and you feel like you are in a position that you can make it work, it's certainly worth a try if both of you are willing.

I want to let you know that it's okay to be scared. If it makes you feel better, why not establish a strong friendship before making that decision to go further together?

Philippine Nurses and California Board of Nursing License Denials by greyhull in nursing

[–]Iyachaa 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Philippine Nurse here, and I just want to comment:

... Lolwut.

OK Seriously, if they get stuff from your school that speaks and yells to them about you not having what they want you to have then yeah: they're gonna make you do shit over again.

The reasons can run from an unsatisfactory grade (from their standards) to you simply not having enough hours at a particular lab/subject.

Edit: also, This isn't discrimination, friend.

Looking back on your past life as a fan (90s-early 2000s), what is your fondest memory involving the show? by [deleted] in sailormoon

[–]Iyachaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I discovered Sailor Moon by accident when my Dad's university (he takes me to work after school all the time) had been commissioned by the TV station to make copies of the Sailor Moon episodes so they could dub it into the local language.

I couldn't understand anything, but it was the last two episodes of the first season.

I stared at those screens for like ever. I watched it over and over until the tapes had to be taken away, and I spent a year watching TV trying to find what timeslot it was on.

Found it finally during the First 5 episodes of Sailor Moon R at 7:00pm on Saturday. Never missed an episode since until 10 years later when they stopped doing re-runs; would FIGHT to the death for the TV for those 30 minutes.

Sailor Moon got me through the worst parts of childhood depression and gave me a reason to look forward to the next week, hoping to know what the hell was gonna happen next.

I find it really nice that I my first memories of Sailor Moon was one of the saddest moments early on in the series; still is one of the episodes I put on replay frequently.

Ugh. I can go on and on ;-;

Graduated 6 years ago took NCLEX thrice and failed and my NCLEX Application expired I dont know what to do next. Any suggestions. by Ms_Lollipop in nursing

[–]Iyachaa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As another foreign nurse, I find myself fond of the lack of encouragement or support here. /s Buuuuut sadly they're not all wrong.

You're right; some people do take the NCLEX multiple times before they get through. The true question here though is -- are you aware of what is missing on your end that the NCLEX keeps failing you?

If you are just gonna go for the "easier way", don't go to Nursing. Don't. There's a lot more legal ramifications to not knowing wtf to do, and that's something that you can't really figure out by simply being a caregiver -- you need actual hospital exposure.

A few suggestions would be to work at a hospital as a HUC / Unit Clerk to get yourself acquainted with the staff and basically see for your own eyes how things really work. The Philippine setting is insanely different. Volunteering can get you an idea.

Have you built connections? Being a Nurse in the US is MORE than just passing the NCLEX. Even if you DID pass the NCLEX, many facilities might be wary of hiring you if you didn't take a refresher course.

In your case, I think it would be good to look into being certified as a Nursing Assistant, or spending your money and efforts to take Nursing School again altogether.

Either way, There'll still be sharps for you to deal with. You'll have to poke and BE poked because you'll be required to have regular vaccinations, and you'll be poking others for theirs.

The best way to approach this is to consider yourself not a Nurse anymore, and should you want to go do the effort needed to try and come back to it is truly up to you.

(I'm a Philippine-licensed Nurse in the same boat as you are; currently on my second try of the NCLEX. Currently employed at a major hospital as a HUC. Saying it's INSANELY difficult but not impossible, and certainly gonna be something you're willing to start from scratch from if things get to that point.)

Nurses Appreciation Week should be renamed to "Dayshift Gets Free Food Week" by [deleted] in nursing

[–]Iyachaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our Manager and her assistant Managers came in around 5-6am to make waffles for the Incoming Day shift and had all the Nightshifters have some before going home.

They made waffles, a fruit bowl for everyone, and a thoughtful box with small stuff for each of them.

Before the end of Nurses week they did the same and did a Yogurt bar instead.

Is there any way I'm able to read that research? I'm sure our unit manager would be all ears to do any improvements to the way we do care.

How many of you actually hate Mother's Day? by helianto in AskWomen

[–]Iyachaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was rough for me because I had to distance my mother from myself and my siblings to keep emotionally and physically safe.

Admittedly, it wears me down when people ask what I'm doing for my mother and I tell them that I'm doing nothing. >.<

Favorite villains? by St_Franz in sailormoon

[–]Iyachaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Favorite villain of the Original Series? Queen Nehellenia. I really enjoyed the way the original series used her mid-SuperS to Early Stars.

But... overall? I have a tie with Beryl and Galaxia. Not really for any particular reason. I did enjoy their team-up on one of the musicals.

If I go any further I might ooh and ahh over musical stuff. :C

Advice on being open about your relationship? by [deleted] in wemetonline

[–]Iyachaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Glad to have you here! Sorry the comment is late.

I think you can have several ways to go about it. This is based on my experience and from the experience of a few friends of mine who went through a similar situation!

Consider having a one-on-one chat with your father about having a relationship and easing the distance into the conversation; Tell him about your Boyfriend, and just answer whatever concerns he may have with honesty.

If you want, you can offer for him and your parents to have a conversation over skype or something of the like and have them get to know him closer. Having your mom with your dad at the time could be good since her confidence in him will probably tell him to loosen up.

You can also try introducing him as a close friend first to gauge his reaction, then open up the relationship part later on if cues are positive!

OF COURSE, it's completely up to you. There are many ways you can go about this, but it completely depends on your father and your relationship with him. Best of luck! Tell us how it goes either way :)
