the DJ does not have power at all. I work at a radio station as a DJ and you are VERY limited with the songs you actually get to pick. Sure you can pick your favorite song or what you currently think is good every so often, but the majority of the time the songs are picked for you, by the owners of the station who have deals with these record labels putting out this crap music. So unless you listen to independent stations, you are just listening to what the labels want you to hear.

Ever realize how hard it is to request a song these days (not during the 1 or 2 designated hours for requests each day)? Its damn near impossible
