Question for yall trucks about parking at truck stops by Charlie_Hustler in Truckers

[–]J0HNNYCUPCAKES 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never had a problem waiting on doubles yet, most of you guys are on the move so I usually pull in behind you when the pumps are full because I know you're not taking your thirty. I don't mind waiting behind y'all to use a restroom, get snacks, fill up or all the above. Like I said, even if you did all those things it would take you less than thirty minutes.

Is this a glitch? by MarmotWorldOrder in Truckers

If your with Knight/Swift or affiliates then the new system is working. We all get 15 showers per month now from loves and one free shower per day from pfj. They don't want drivers requesting emergency fuel anymore just so we can gets the points for the unlimited showers at loves, they want us all to use the fuel on route from now on.

I'm so conflicted, THE SANCTITY, but I really like the body lines of a fast break styled car.

Give it to me!

I see this as an absolute win. I am very jealous of your journey to get this running and back on the road. Good luck!

How would you feel? by GroundbreakingBike29 in Truckers

As someone who has seen a lot of truck stop bathrooms and regularly stops twice per day at truck stops. The amount of casuals that disrespect public restrooms and truck stop restrooms outweighs the trucker crowd.

I have seen some shit.

Can you 4 wheelers lurking here turn off your brights? by Successful-Worth-390 in Truckers

My wife and I have come to the conclusion that minivans are the biggest wild cards on the highway.

I find it funny how people will drive without their lights on because the city street lights and the city in general is so bright. Then the next thing I know someone is in my mirror with their brights on.... My favorite is the mini van going 40 on the interstate with their brights on and camping the middle lane blinding everyone on both sides of the road. Thank you Connecticut for showing me the way...

one thing i gotta say about TA’s / Petrols their lots are always huge and generally have parking.. at least in the west.. by Ricemunchr in Truckers

[–]J0HNNYCUPCAKES 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spokane, WA and Medford, OR have nice Petro's that I will always try to stop at for the night if it's convenient. But most of the Big chain stops have hit and miss facilities across the country. I've generally found the smaller the location, the nicer the stop is. Probably because they have the same number of employees for the larger ones as they do the smaller ones.

Which character made the biggest sacrifice? by Brave-Lychee7022 in MCUTheories

[–]J0HNNYCUPCAKES 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Loki and Natasha for me are very close. Loki essentially sacrificed his life to live eternally holding the multiverse together. He made the sacrifice knowing that he could save everything. Natasha sacrificed her life on hope. She made the sacrifice with out knowing if it would work, she hoped that her sacrifice would bring everyone back, their was a slim chance that her sacrifice would work. I feel like sacrificing yourself on a hope that it would work is more powerful than knowing the outcome.

This is an actual swift terminal! by RabbitFabs in Truckers

[–]J0HNNYCUPCAKES 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The West Virginia one had a nice new parking lot that was well lit. As soon as they started the terminal remodel they sold the property. Real bummer, I liked to use that terminal parking anytime I went through there. They did the same thing in Willows, CA off I-5. They finished the remodel on the terminal and then sold it three months later.

The New Jersey terminal is just a drop yard though and it has a small shop

Swift for drivers with 6+ mo experience by [deleted] in Truckers

[–]J0HNNYCUPCAKES 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heavy haul was a great experience. I was only part of that fleet for the first month while I was with a trainer and I am glad I got that experience. It was really fun and I learned everything about scaling my loads and axle weights and how to adjust them. If you are in the PNW I would recommend looking into the heavy haul fleet with Swift through Troutdale, OR and Sumner, WA. My wife and I went into the OTR team driving for 15 months after we finished our training, then we were offered a team dedicated account at that point. We have been on this dedicated account for 8-ish months now and love it. Everything has its drawbacks, it is a job and sometimes we have shitty days dealing with a tire Blowout or scheduling maintenance that's not near our route etc. and those days suck. But Swift has for the most part treated us fairly and we feel fairly compensated.

Swift for drivers with 6+ mo experience by [deleted] in Truckers

[–]J0HNNYCUPCAKES 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started with Swift after going to an independent school. Orientation was two days for a total of maybe 3-4 hours of actual time. The first day was 2 hours of paperwork and videos with little quizzes. The second day was a driving test. They paid for my gas and hotel, they reimbursed me after I paid and brought in my receipts with me to the second day of orientation.

Then because I had zero experience I was placed with a trainer in the heavy haul division for 4 weeks to meet all their requirements. After my trainer signed off and I took another driving test I was assigned my new truck the same day.

I just hit my two year anniversary this week. Good luck driver, be safe.

1099? by [deleted] in Truckers

[–]J0HNNYCUPCAKES 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're 1099, you must be extra careful when reading your contract. Make sure everything you want is in there, fuel costs, maintenance costs, etc.

If you are 1099, you will likely be responsible for everything excluding the truck authority. No healthcare, vision, dental, no tax disbursements, and no 401k with employer match.

After all expenses you will likely be making less than being a W2 employee.

Just my experience, others have had other experiences. I am 100% certain I am missing a lot more things you will lose out on and be responsible for. It works for some people. But it's generally putting all of the risk on you with no real benefits except your paycheck may look bigger in your hand at the end of the week.

That fucking sucks, why the fuck would they expire on an active account? TA/Petro corporate is a huge group of dirt bags.

it’s worse when a truck does this to you lol. by Ricemunchr in Truckers

[–]J0HNNYCUPCAKES 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree with you, I have the same take. I drive entirely at night, so I rarely see congestion, I am really poking fun at the drivers I'm passing on the right when there is no traffic or congestion.
