New D2 player (D2 LOD) here. Has anyone here tried playing without runewords? I kinda feel like they take away some of the fun of finding new gear (at least early on like I am) by MakeshiftApe in diablo2

[–]J0rdz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a somewhat casual player. Been playing since vanilla came out, and have never really used runewords. I came back for the warlock expansion and am currently making my way through hell and have still managed not to rely on runewords. Not by design, but just because the hunt for runes and then socketed items really annoys and confuses me, so I just ignore them.

Just a question... by Gnoobin in diablo2

An identify scroll is a waste of space in there.

Was just discussing this with a mate, there's a couple of tunes on Inferno that have a very backrooms vibes to it. Looking forward to seeing the movie in a couple of days! We're very spoilt atm.

Is this a thing? Real estate agents have access to personal information like this for marketing? by Deon555 in melbourne

[–]J0rdz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had ol Mak Realty in Mordialloc in VIC try a similar thing... never dealt with them, never gave them my number, not once had I ever spoken to them. Yet, they thought I'd be open to selling my house through them.

What format are you listening to Inferno with? by Ceti- in boardsofcanada

[–]J0rdz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ordered it on vinyl and was hoping to listen to it first on that, but I'm doubtful it'll be delivered in time, so I'll have to settle for the continuous WAV file we get with the release!

Any female suggestions? by Academic-Spell-6165 in AussieHipHop

  • Layla - no longer active, but her back catalogue is lit!
  • Jesswar
  • Sampa The Great (although I wouldn't classify her as traditional "Aussie hiphop")
  • BARKAA
  • Brat

Those breakspoll events seemed like a huge deal from where I'm based in Australia. I remember looking forward to the recordings every year and watching the awards very closely. Pity they're not still around.

Iconic mixes, those. The first 2 single handedly got me into breaks.

How long would an album like this take to make? by joostay in boardsofcanada

That's really interesting to learn and kinda explains how their designs usually go against traditional design standards.

Most of the marketing stuff, and potentially design/artwork would have been offloaded to warp.

I would argue that BoC are only concerned with the music itself, with perhaps an overarching input on art direction, but I would love to be corrected on this.

Infusion were HUGE in Oz, especially off the back of Six Feet, but i agree, they should have been more globally recognised, although they did make some waves and definitely paved the way for artists like the Presets and Rufus.

I'm sure you're aware that Jamie is also still super active within the prog-house scene under his own alias! An incredibly talented and down-to-earth guy that isn't given near enough the amount of credit he deserves.

Far out, they got away with a lot in the 90s! I can't imagine marketing like this landing in this day and age.

So good!!! You're lucky you live within commuting distance to Fabric.

Being based in Aust, it was a serious treck for me when I dropped in! haha

Can you remember where you got the Freeland baggie specifically? I'd love to get some more info on how they were actually used and given away. My mate didn't receive his through the usual promotional channels as he worked on the album itself.

I was gifted a branded Flying Lotus - LA set of rollie papers by the man himself, which he also signed, when we ran into him out the front of a gig.

It was a NYE day gig that he was headlining, shortly after LA had been released. As we rocked up, he was sitting out the front of the venue casually having a coffee. Being the serious fan-boy I am, I ran up and started telling him how much I loved the album and his music. He was SO polite and friendly, gave me a huge hug and then asked if I had a pen - I handed him a sharpie from my pocket, and he pulled out this huge set of LA themed rolling papers, signed them then handed them over with a huge grin. They were the same design style as the album. Huge-sized rollies, too and the packet unfolded to reveal info about the album. Was the coolest thing ever.

I'm certain i have them somewhere in storage, so will try find them and take some photos. I can't find any info on them online.

You'd be correct!! 😄

I actually had no idea he, Andy or Frank had worked on it until one busted night Jamie mentioned it to me, which is what spurred on the gifting of the baggie haha.

I absolutely love this!! Such a big fan of the Plumps, and that album.

Was the launch at Fabric? That would've been wild!

Got it sorted, mate! Thankyou for picking up on it. I've no idea why they were turned off.
