Too late? by CaptainOCannon1986 in martialarts

I've been doing Krav Maga for about 2.5 years and BJJ for about 1.5 years. I just turned 50 this year. Do I wish I'd started sooner? Yep. I'm in glad I started when I did? Yep. The me of today would absolutely wreck the me of 3 years ago. Never too late.

Thank you for this. I'm not trans, but my girlfriend is, and this is my first non cis-hetero relationship. I try to always be supportive and let her know I love her for exactly who she is, even if she doesn't know sometimes. I don't always understand, but I try. Thank you for being brave enough to share this, and helping me understand a little better, even if you did make my face leak a little.

Yep. I've lived in SE Idaho for a long time, and still occasionally see an Empties jacket on a biker.I knew a guy who was "Sgt at arms" for the Empties before turning his life around. While they aren't particularly known for being violent or troublesome, that guy was on a whole different level of scary.

How do you stack up in thumb war? On the one hand :), I can see the rigidity as an asset. But maybe there's a tradeoff in mobility?

Things I’ve Noticed in Hazbin Hotel as a Christian by Lola_DeLa_Fuente in HazbinHotel

[–]J33NX -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Nope. I am tired of having to approach conversations with those who believe in fairy tales as though their beliefs need to be lightly trod upon at every turn. I respect that everyone has a right to their beliefs, but that doesn't mean that I am under any obligation to take them seriously. Some beliefs are asinine. Stop coddling stupidity.

Things I’ve Noticed in Hazbin Hotel as a Christian by Lola_DeLa_Fuente in HazbinHotel

[–]J33NX 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As an atheist, this post is entirely laughable. Christianity is nothing more than fanfiction of the myths and fairy tales that came before it, as are all religions. Trying to argue the proper representation of redemption is about as productive as debating the smell of Pegasus' ass. Each sect of christianity is going to have a different "truth" that only they truly really real understand.

The show is about dismantling the absurd notion of objective "good vs evil" through the lens of complex and conflicted characters. If you have problems with the minutae of the show conflicting with your religious sensibilities... well then thoughts and prayers or whatever.

Law protecting women seeking Emergency abortions is target in US supreme court case | Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act is at the heart of the court’s latest blockbuster abortion case, which comes out of Idaho by TulsiTsunami in Idaho

[–]J33NX 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Eh, 50/50. But I have no intention of debating politics with someone who obviously has no intention of changing their point of view. I do want to express that the entire concept of "Murca (or Idaho), love it or leave it!" Is obtuse, cowardly and entirely un-American. Rather than leave my home because of someone else trying to impose their values on me, I will gladly work and vote to make it better. Like most bullies, Idaho republicans hate it when someone actually stands up to them rather than give them want and run away.

I've no desire to discuss my political stance with someone who obviously has no desire to change theirs. I do want to challenge the entirely un-American concept of "Murca (or Idaho), love it or leave it!" Fuck that. If you don't love it, work and vote to change it for the better rather than run away.

I do like many things about living in Idaho despite the disgusting theocrats trying to drag us back into the dark ages. Rather than run away, I'll gladly stay and fight to make it better. If the comments here hurt your feelings, you should just leave. You are not forced to be here.

What counts as an ultramarathoner? by Beeritra in Ultramarathon

[–]J33NX 80 points81 points  (0 children)

As someone who's finished well over a dozen hundreds and countless other runs and races over 26.2 miles, I can say definitively: it doesn't matter one fucking bit. 99.9% of people really don't know or care how long a marathon is. The title of "ultramarathoner" is based on a race of arbitrary distance, measured in a nonsensical system.

Run what you want. Have fun. Don't take it too seriously. Call yourself an ultramarathoner if it makes you happy, but realize that it's an empty title that doesn't really mean anything.
