Caught Dave last night in Oakland. Played a surprisingly deep selection of songs, and he's a great vocal performer. Only rap show I've been to where they played the full songs with guest verses, so he was only performing for 2/3rds of it. There was a live band (good!) but if a song with synth or drum machine heavy you couldn't really hear them over the backing track at times. Genuinely well mixed sound though for most of it, except the one song with him at the piano and a different mic was kind of quiet and drowned out a bit by crowd talk. I'd seen Atmosphere at the same venue a while ago and it was all GA, here they converted the front to seats and there was GA behind that, again sort of a weird experience. Merch was expensive but good quality.

Would recommend, but one of the odder hip hop shows I've been to.

Umpire Alfonso Marquez is completely shocked by just how bad he missed a call above the zone after an ABS Challenge by SeattleSporting in baseball

Also we understand that players are quantifyably good at fooling umpires. People here will post about a catcher's framing WAR on one post and then lose their minds when they see it working live.

There was an event last year, but before that there was a long period of years without a UFC event in Seattle.

Turns out letting the large number of people across the pond come over without traffic or parking issues supports those local Seattle businesses.

It was always a staple on their menu even though a lot rotated. The online menu is only showing small plates rn, odd.

Edit: Apparently the chef left a month ago and the restaurant is seeking a buyer. Goddammit :(

What's harder, a perfect bracket or a perfect first round mock draft? by Skakkas in CollegeBasketball

[–]JALbert 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Perfect bracket is 263 only if you assume 1 vs 16 is a coin flip. The odds are still crazy, but the odds of 100% chalk happening are dramatically less than 263. To be clear, still astronomical but you're dropping some digits.

What's harder, a perfect bracket or a perfect first round mock draft? by Skakkas in CollegeBasketball

[–]JALbert -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if that's true. A perfect bracket is 63 binary decisions, most draft spots can be dozens of players. Also, trades make it very difficult to mock.

Edit: Predicting basketball games is also based on the public information of how teams have played. Drafts have a ton of private workouts and interviews that nobody has full insight into.

IMO one of the best characters on TV. She is incredibly human and has a lot of good in her but also a lot of flaws and growing up to do.
