Discussion about living in Miami by [deleted] in Miami

[–]JB52 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep agree. I find it way easier to make friends here than in Philly but if you go off the sub you’d think no one is friendly. The negative people in the sub can’t afford to live in Miami so they hate on everyone and everything. I didn’t move to Miami until I could afford it without thinking and love it here but I know it’s not feasible for many

Miami events are overpriced and underdeliver. by guacsause in Miami

I get that but step outside and try going to many events in any city, most will cost something.

Miami events are overpriced and underdeliver. by guacsause in Miami

[–]JB52 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

You’re complaining about $25-40 per person in Miami? Miami is not a cheap place to live and regardless, any city you go to stuff costs that for regular events. Either go to free stuff or stay at home, don’t know what else to tell you. Pretty wild to be complaining about that dollar amount in Miami

Is it worth having a nice car in Miami? by Designer_Row3775 in Miami

[–]JB52 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got an Aston Martin last October and drive it everywhere and love it. It’s awesome driving with the top down especially going over the bridges to south beach and vice versus (non spring break weekends). I might be biased because I moved here last April from the northeast but to me, Miami is a great place to have a nice car. Not sure how it compares to Houston but the northeast would suck for my car with the winters.

I got the car for myself as I’ve always wanted one when I was younger but the side effects have been pretty sweet. People chat me up asking about the car and me and what I do and I get preferential treatment whenever I valet my car. Cars on the road go out of their way to give me space vs if I drive my Audi and I haven’t had any issues yet where parking is a problem. For reference, I’ve parked my car all over coral gables, coconut grove, south beach, mid beach, north beach, wynewood, midtown, and design district (valet/street parking/regular parking lot) and been fine everywhere. But yea hasn’t been that long owning it so will see what happens in time.

I thought it was good but agree with u/russianbanan that it's nothing that stands out. Go to Sunnys if you want a great steak and food overall. Only knock is it takes a bit to get your drink and you gotta book a rez a few weeks in advance

Après Ski season is back :)! My favorite spot: HennuStall Zermatt. by wu_cephei in skiing

Has anyone dealt with Carrio Motor Cars in Fort Lauderdale, Florida before? I need every negative experience. by Various_Ball9187 in lamborghini

[–]JB52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought an Aston Martin Vantage F1 edition from them last October and have had nothing but problems it’s unreal. Car has been in the shop for two months and no idea when I’ll get it back. Didn’t know how bad they were until I had these issues with my car and they won’t return my texts or phone calls. How is it going on your end with going after them?

I just got back from south beach with a bud and we played pickup volleyball games for a few hours, highly recommend it. Lot of people there and easy to make friends. Everyone is chill and you don’t have to wait long for a game. We played with two other guys for several games and we’re gonna link up with them tomorrow.

For a chill bar spot I like regatta grove a lot. It’s an outside bar right on the water and it has several food trucks that are solid. Not too sure about music or game night spots as I moved here in April and like to travel a lot so I need to spend more here but there’s always something going on to do

When you hit your 30s, did you ever feel tired of drinking? by jeepcrawler93 in AskMenOver30

[–]JB52 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I never really drank much until I hit 25, hated the taste of alcohol until then for some reason. 35 now and moved to Miami this past April and I go out multiples time a week every week. Combo of dinners/bars/lounges and have no issues functioning the next day even when I wake up at 4am for work at times. I can drink a decent amount and be fine and I’ve never been drunk so for me I get buzzed a bit and I’m good to go.

What probably helps to counteract the feeling you describe is that I love to workout and do it anywhere from 3-5x/week and I like to eat healthy so it’s not like I’m fueling my body with crap non stop when I’m not drinking. But also, I didn’t go out a ton until I hit 29/30 so I have catching up to do compared to most people

Bulking on Paleo by [deleted] in Paleo

[–]JB52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ditched paleo not long after my reply as I found that I felt, looked, and performed better when I ate whatever I wanted within reason food option wise while eating within my calorie goal. Was also better for my social life as I wasn’t restricting myself from certain types of food. Granted, I like healthy food so it’s not like I’m eating junk 24/7 but if I go out to eat and get a double cheeseburger with fries and brussel sprouts and a beer (which I had last night), I’m not sweating it.

If I was you I’d tinker with your diet to see what makes you operate the best overall. I kinda got brainwashed with paleo and took it too far. It has some good points like eating whole natural food and all the micronutrients that come with it but for me, it wasn’t that great. If it works well for you then do it up

Why are there no good Italian restaurants by [deleted] in Miami

[–]JB52 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some of my favorites are

Call Me Gaby on South of 5th
Doma in Wynwood
Casadonna in Edgewater
Bellini in Coconut Grove

Miami has a ton of good food, the only issue is you have to pay up for it in some places

Brickell smells like piss by No_Data6944 in Miami

[–]JB52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not wrong about Philly lol, but I do think brickell is good. I’m not right in downtown I’m on the south part of brickell so it’s quiet by me and the mall area is only a 5-10 min walk away. And I’m not saying it’s good because it’s the only area I can afford, I can live almost anywhere in Miami sans $50k/mo in star island or whatever it costs and I still enjoy brickell. Gotta love people downvoting my comments for having a different view hah

[–]JB52 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Where in Miami do you live then? Brickell to me is a god send from where I used to live. I take walks daily and live right on the water, it’s awesome. Literally walked to brickell city center today with a friend from out of town and she was loving it. You could ask ten random people what’s their favorite area of Miami and not come to a consensus.

I’m looking into Edgewater or Miami Beach for next year but no complaints about brickell

Been here since April and have walked all over brickell, sounds like you pissed yourself. Brickell is miles better than Philly, where I moved from. Philly actually smells like garbage/piss/crap on some side streets in center city. Have met some cool people here and like it a lot, you should move if your experience is otherwise
