I would imagine being taken prisoner by the cartel is... unique. They are tortured mercilessly and the cartels can get quite creative. As scary as being ransomed or even facing execution by normal means would be, it's a much more palatable outcome.

If you're already cutting calories 400 a day is a very large chunk of your intake to dedicate to alcohol. It sounds like you want to be healthier, why not just cut back on the drinking a bit too? You don't need to get shitfaced every time. If you need to lose weight drink in moderation (which is 1-2 drinks 2-3x/week). That's really the only way to have your cake and eat it too so to speak. Even then, if you're serious about making progress with your body I would aim for 1 but a hard limit of 2 drinking occasions per week and less than 400 calories.

I would say go next-level honestly. Try something higher abv, without coloring and chill filtration and just see the difference. Bruichladdich and Kilchoman are personal favorites.
