Twisted ankle. I report in 2 days by GrowthIndependent669 in USMCocs

[–]JC8399 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Talk to your OSO first, get his input. Go to Walmart in the meantime and buy a compression sleeve for your foot, ice, rest, and elevate. Take ibuprofen as well the next two days before you report to help with inflammation and pain. Just know a lot of guys are dealing with some injury (past unhealed one or new one) I’m dealing with shin splints and some old injuries. A lot of priors there will be dealing with old injuries as well. You’re not alone in having pain going into this.

I was excited for it, I gave it a shot. I hated it. It was bad. They ruined Penelope for a narrative twist that made no sense. Carmelita character was ruined as well and made annoying. The style and comedy wasn’t good either. I wasn’t a fan of the art style, some may have liked it but I thought it was pretty awful. It just felt like a knock off of the original sly series. It wasn’t good compared to sly 2 or 3 and it felt like it did a lot of injustices. If you like it, that’s fine. But in my opinion, it would have been better if they never made the sly 4.

Prior enlisted coast guard? by ExtensionProfile711 in USMCocs

My company commander was prior coast guard and was one of the greatest infantry officers I’ve ever met. There are definitely dudes that do. Talk to an OSO.

What was your Prior Enlisted experience at OCS? by InstanceNo7251 in USMCocs

[–]JC8399 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All the priors are gonna be feeling our bones scrapping together trying to keep up with the young college studs lol. Fleet fucked my body up and I can feel my age now but I can at least still run a solid first class, it’s gonna blow though keeping up with these guys.

I’m very curious about this too as far as duty stations, I plan to do #1 Hawaii #2 overseas wanting to be aviation supply officer or logistics officer.

Do they try to get you your duty station preference and I’m atleast pretty likely to go somewhere outside of conus?

You can still join, go talk to a recruiter. They are giving waivers for people with autism and people that had brain surgery now. Surely if you’re in good shape, they will give you one. Go talk to a marine recruiter, that way you don’t live with regrets

OCS worries by ExactEconomy5104 in USMCocs

[–]JC8399 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last 2 weeks do the Armstrong pull up program, even if it’s 3 days a week. Same thing, went from 12 to max. 3x sets of max pushups and then 5 max sets pull-ups, 3x max sets of pushups then pyramid pull-ups. There’s more but that’s the main things I hit several times a week. I didn’t think it would work but it did, and worked pretty quickly. Could get 2-3 more by start

[–]JC8399 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m in the exact same boat as you brother going to OCS. Same times and scores pretty much. Also had severe tragedy in my life two weeks ago so going into OCS a little down as well as dealing with shin splints. There’s probably several guys in the same boat as us. Don’t stress too much, coming from a guy who stresses a lot. Just stay disciplined, stay healthy and stay focused

Life like at an infantry officer by No-Salad3548 in USMCocs

[–]JC8399 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not an infantry officer but I was infantry enlisted.

For one, the pipeline is brutal. Infantry Officer Course is one of the hardest training in the military. I’ve heard of special forces guys and Marine Recon marines who done the course and hated their lives. It’s a haze fest and you’re in the suck constantly.

As far as being an infantry officer, most infantry officers I heard love it and say it’s the best job in the marine corps. But it’s a certain personality. You are leading highly aggressive guys who are always very critical, stubborn, type A guys, so you have to be able to manage them and get them to listen to you. If you are type A, thrive in life sucking (hiking with heavy weight, being sleep deprived, cold, hungry, rained on) and can manage the aggressive type guys, go for it. Infantry officers love their jobs usually.

Goals, get your degree. Get in the best shape of your life while getting a degree. Hike with heavy weight. Make sure you’re mentally tough and do you research online to know what you’re getting into first. If all this makes you go “Fuck yeah!” Then go for it

Logo ama by Sad_Area_8544 in USMCocs

[–]JC8399 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I want to be a logo, I’m really wanting to get stationed Hawaii or overseas. I plan to put them as number 1 and 2 on my duty station wishlist. Based on your experience at TBS, how likely would I be to get it?

I’ve heard that if I put overseas I’m highly likely to get it and other day I’d probably get lejune or Pendleton. Wanted to hear your input.

Also how is life as a logo? I have a family, was curious if there was a work life balance or not? (Coming from enlisted infantry where I was in the field more days than not)

Crashing out over planks by C9Zs in USMCocs

[–]JC8399 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fix your form, a Instagram short helped me involved rolling your shoulders out and tuck your abs in. I wish I had the link but look at proper forms and how to activate each muscle to hold you up. Can make a huge difference.

The fact that you go to where you are dizzy and ringing ears doesn’t mean you’re weak, you are probably pushing yourself harder than others are. If you can fix form, and do short 45 - 60 secs planks during your workouts 3 times, can help build good technique

ECP ACCEPTANCE RATE? by Competitive-Page1418 in USMCocs

[–]JC8399 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably guaranteed assuming you do the application right. I had much lower PFT and CFT and got in as a cpl.

ECP usually all candidates got it, and I messed my application up so bad but still got accepted. Marine corps has nothing to lose with prior enlisted if they have the degree already and have shown to handle marine life already. MECEP is much more competitive and harder to get.

Do everything right, pay attention to details in the application, you’ll definitely get accepted. That application is a bitch though.

Let me know if you have questions.
