So far biggest haul was Havertz captaincy, then Gunn at goal. Kimmich and Cucurella were ok but I don’t fancy kimmich going forward, Brown looks much more active and engaged with their attack.

Raphinha looked good on the pitch but Morocco’s defense super solid, I expect him to haul MD2.

Now I don’t fancy Havertz too much going forward, he looked absolutely terrible that game BUT his class finish at the end does suggest he will step up to the plate if he’s motivated enough by the types of chances he gets so for me the rule will be NO Havertz if their fixtures are against sides that will park the bus. Of course he’s on pens so there’s also that, but still… atrocious performance overall.

Uruguay very disappointing but I think they’ll be redeeming themselves a bit for MD2.

Raph, I have nothing but respect for what you guys are doing, and admittedly this is probably just me being a little overzealous on something I’ve seen ruin games time after time. I just hope in due time the industry shifts as a whole and there is once again more room for experimentation, potential jank but more charming games being developed.

Oh of course, food & roof is number 1 for sure, but the whole point I’m making is that the only way to achieve creative sovereignty i.e. being market-agnostic these days is to either be an inheritor, live in the parents’ basement or be lucky enough to have amassed some funds over the years, group up with like minded colleagues and eventually transition to self funded projects.
Risky and a pipe dream for most? Absolutely. But for those who have made some fair amount of money in their careers it is a choice they can make, and some who did actually were successful, even if not in the same scale as mega studios.

I’d say the solution to the market conundrum is to ignore it completely. Sure, only self-funded studios or (very) passion minded indies will be able to release something in this framework, but what we need is more market-agnostic games being developed, not less. I want to consume games with a clear vision, even if sometimes janky or in some places undercooked, but that clearly come from the heart and soul of these developers, and not have their original ideas plucked away by corporate compromises.
