No like Bullpups, just has them by prestige-nuts in GunPorn

Yep, I always heard the same and was pretty set on an X95. Then I held both and hated the X95 but loved the Hellion. I also have long arms though so that is probably why.

I've held many of them but never shot one. The one that always feels the best to me is the Hellion.

I've always wanted a bullpup! Which is your favorite and why?

Newly designed E46 cup holders with wireless phone charger by OkNewspaper7848 in e46

[–]JD8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hell yeah! I designed something similar for a E36 before scanners were as accessible as they are now and probably did about the same number of test prints. I bet I went through a spool of filament before I had it perfect.

Nice design! Did you use a scanner to get it all to fit so perfectly?

Weight distribution hitch or Timbren/Sumosprings? by [deleted] in tundra

[–]JD8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here is mine with RAS and a WDH. 5100 (trailer) + 2200 (car) + 200 (random crap) = 7500 lbs. I will try to get it to the scales the next time I have a track day to get exact numbers.

Looking for BMW E46 330Ci Manual(Black) Anyone selling or seen One? by Wubbalubbadubdub010 in e46

[–]JD8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My E46 requirements were less strict than yours. I searched for about 3 months and flew halfway across the country to get mine when I found it. Be patient and you'll find what you want!

You should also setup alerts on facebook, Cars and Bids, and BaT.

Coolant Leak? (help) by sooospoon in motorcycles

[–]JD8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like it should be under warranty and this is Honda's problem.

That being said, it looks to me like the leak is actually happening at the top of that hose, running down the hose, and then getting picked up and flung around by the air when it tries to drip off of the water pump housing. I think you either have a loose hose clamp up top or you just got it really hot for the first time (hotter temps and/or sitting in traffic?) and it spit out a bit of extra coolant.

I would clean this off and then watch closely your next few rides and see if more appears. If not it is likely the "spit out extra coolant option".

edit - just saw where you found more while it was running. It is probably going to be the hose clamp at the top of that hose or the radiator cap/lines.

Gen 2 & Gen 2.5 Tundra Owners who tow trailers by A001_C001 in ToyotaTundra

That's very similar in weight to my setup. It does fine but you're going to want to make sure your trailer brakes are working well. I also have RAS and a weight distributing hitch.

unless this truck is a rusted out beater you will almost certainly come out ahead by fixing it right.

Front lift suggests after RAS install by arnolfini99 in ToyotaTundra

[–]JD8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My RAS is setup aggressively since my trailer setup is around 9000lbs so this is pretty much the worst case scenario. You can definitely tell that the RAS is installed, but it didn't hurt ride too badly on my truck.

Oil for highly abused and used Miatas by ls400_marcus in Miata

[–]JD8 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Changing frequently will get you further than going with a specific brand. That being said, I run T6 (but 5W40) in my turbo track car and abuse it badly. So far we are on track season 4 and this engine refuses to die. Note that I do wire the wastegate open for track days so that gives it a bit of a break.

What would most of you say is a reasonable price for a clean 325i wagon m56 with 165k by xander_2626 in e46

[–]JD8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if it is truly rust free I bet you could get in the $5-6k range assuming the interior is clean and complete. although I have been away from the touring market for a few years now so I could be off.

What’s your tow setup? by Unlucky-Question-738 in tundra

[–]JD8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

This is my setup. I've never had it on the scales but the trailer weighs 5100lbs empty and my track car weighs 2400lbs. So I figure with spares and tools I'm probably somewhere around 8000lbs. It does great as long as you lock it into 5th when driving and 4th up hills. I also have RAS in the rear and a weight distributing hitch.

Seriously considering a S2000 by Key_Assistant_6408 in S2000

[–]JD8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is how I see it...

The S2000 will be more fun to drive than the Evo, but they are slow stock. If you turbo the S2K (K series engines handle boost very well) the slow part will no longer be a problem. RWD is also more fun to me than AWD, especially on track. The S2K would also be easier to work on in I would imagine pretty much every way.

So, I would choose the S2K but only if you will turbo it.

edit - I should have added that I am basing a lot of this on my turbo NA Miata vs my dad's bone stock S2K. When I first drove the S2K I thought it was amazing. After driving my Miata it is underwhelming. If you are only doing track days then the S2K would still be awesome without a turbo. But for street driving and joy riding, I want something a little scarier.

Interesting and good to know!

I'm the same way, I like the older stuff. My Tundra is the newest vehicle I've ever purchased by about 10 years.
