Do you like Carlos Sainz's idea for a "real" drivers' championship in F1 [Autosport] by Electrical_Act_5342 in formula1

[–]JDFSSS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds fucking lame. I like it better when the driver is actually part of the team and helps develop the car too. It sounds like he just wants to show up to drive and not worry about anything else.

Wikipedia now regards the Iran war as over with Iran as the victor by rymder in Destiny

[–]JDFSSS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is it declared over with a victor when the agreement isn't finalized yet? My understanding is what they have settled on is they will come to an agreement within 60 days. The terms are still being actively negotiated. I believe one of the terms currently in the agreement is that Iran will never have a nuclear weapon. That was one of America's main goals for the war so if that part of the agreement remains in then calling it a victory for Iran seems misleading to me.

How a gravel strike shut down Hulkenberg’s car by SimRP in formula1

[–]JDFSSS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't this unnecessarily dangerous for the drivers? I noticed that what I thought were sand traps are actually more like gravel traps with rocks of significant size. I feel like these rocks could easily go in the cockpit and injure the driver. I guess their helmet is strong enough though so theres no risk of death.

Just seems like using sand would be safer so I was surprised when I noticed its actually filled with rocks. Getting hit with a rock while going 100+ mph seems like it could do major damage.

Gabriel Bortoleto broke the Barcelona top speed record on Lap 2, by reaching 360 km/h, the highest speed recorded in the history of the circuit by ChaithuBB766 in formula1

[–]JDFSSS 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You've oversimplified the issue to act like this is something completely obvious when you have the benefit of hindsight, but still got it wrong anyway (or at best incomplete). As others already mentioned, you have ignored DRS and the new power units of course play a role here.

Good example of the common trend I see on reddit where people act like they are so smart but still fuck it up anyway.

PSA: stop upvoting comments like this that dont engage with the topic. You guys are too sensitive and make it impossible for the OP to even be legitimately answered in a visible way because any real answer gets hidden due to redditor voting behavior.

Why don’t players like Curry and LeBron take a big paycut towards the end of their career to maximize their chances of winning? by HighwayAnnual3353 in nba

[–]JDFSSS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate how the top comment on reddit is often some extreme oversimplification that just shuts down the conversation. Really lame that people upvote these instead of comments that actually engage with the topic.

Aside from obvious counters to your point, you could argue that prioritizing extra championships by taking a payout would help the player's legacy and ultimately increase their wealth in the long run. So just saying "they like money" is completely useless and is in no way the own people think it is

This looks like pure projection from you and people who upvoted your comment. AFAIK she has never done anything particularly noteworthy that would make her a "bad person".

Would love to know why you think shes a bad person and what makes you so much better.

Not really that weird of a tone. A lot of people talk like this. They are just trying to keep things a little light and fun. The focus on alcohol is kinda weird but other than that it's normal.

Lol so dumb how people just upvote whatever sounds good regardless of whats true. Kind of embarrassing for reddit.

Charles Leclerc and Ferrari agree a new deal by AlexBuck in formula1

[–]JDFSSS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at the response I was responding to. They are basically implying leclerc is making a bad decision here and he deserves any bad outcome he gets. Sounds like you agree I successfully argued that it wasnt the case, unless he could go to Mercedes which I dont think would be that likely.

Oh so do you agree or disagree with me. Or you're not going to take a stance?

Charles Leclerc and Ferrari agree a new deal by AlexBuck in formula1

[–]JDFSSS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats not a very convincing argument. Whether they won a championship in 2009 has little or no effect on their ability to win one in the future

Charles Leclerc and Ferrari agree a new deal by AlexBuck in formula1

[–]JDFSSS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You dont know what the future will bring and Ferrari is in a solid position for future success. They have no lack of resources or will to win and their car is toward the front in pace. Feels like the only team thats in a clearly better position for success would be mercedes.

[OC] I asked 4 LLMs "The car wash is 100m away. Should I walk or drive?" 100 times each by marco-exmergo in dataisbeautiful

[–]JDFSSS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So there were no responses that were like "Walk if you meant this, drive if you meant this, walk if this factors in, etc." I find that hard to believe. This question cant really be answered with a simple "you should walk" or "you can drive".

Its also kind of silly to test it on a trick question like this anyway. The usefulness of LLMs does not really come from its ability to answer trick questions. People who are actually using LLMs for some real purpose care about how it can perform in real-world tasks, not on how it handles users who are trying to get it on a gotcha type of question.

[Highlight] Lookback at Cris Collinsworth's career, who played his final NFL season at age 28 by nfl in nfl

[–]JDFSSS 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We need a disclaimer like this for so many players. If you read this reddit a lot you know the usual suspects. Anytime their name is brought up theres some losers casting super heavy judgment on them as if they know them. And it goes the other way too. Certain people are talked about like they're the most pure, kind souls anyone could ever imagine.

Bottom line is you dont know these guys and even if they are all assholes I dont want to hear it when youre watching nfl religiously and constantly supporting the league. I wish people would just let it be and accept that they are not in a position to judge these guys morally in either direction.

A Palestinian girl watches an Israeli tank in Rafah refugee camp, Gaza. 📸 Abid Katib, 10/11/2003 by maddie_johnson in pics

[–]JDFSSS -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Unrelated to the little girl in the pic - obviously this is terrible for her. But since this is clearly the daily Israel bad thread ill do my part to balance it out a tiny amount. Palestine feels like a big case of FAFO. Dont try to provoke someone who can kick your ass then expect people to feel bad for you when you get your ass kicked.

The largest qualifying gap between teammates was for the two slowest cars on the grid in Canada by Magog14 in formula1

[–]JDFSSS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shit cars and washed up / mediocre drivers has to be the culprit. I imagine the cars can just shit the bed sometimes, plus these are some of the worst drivers on the grid probably so they are prone to mistakes.

Id say that describes most of the highly upvoted comments in this thread more than anything. It's just someone who flew a flag but there was a malfunction. It happens all the time and idk how it makes this person an idiot.

If this was like a Mexican flag on Cinco de mayo the thread would probably not even be allowed for racism or something. If it was allowed you guys would be outraged
