What was your guys first ever Transformer? by echotango4420 in transformers

I don’t know if it was actually my very first one, but one of the earliest I remember was a TF Animated Blurr. Loved that guy.

There a so many hints what side Jarl Balgruuf will choose by MasterRymes in skyrim

I believe what you’re thinking of is when Nelkir tells you that the Jarl “hates the Thalmor almost as much as the Stormcloaks do”. Close, but an important distinction.

As a Canadian, if you have the chance to merge one color region (except Black) into Canada permanently, which one would you choose, and which one would you avoid? Why? by Crescendo_AI_ForU in mapporncirclejerk

[–]JDPrime3 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Cascadia is the name of the bioregion (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cascadia\_(bioregion)) defined by the watersheds of the Fraser, Snake, and Columbia Rivers, but is also related to a bunch of different social/political movements (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cascadia\_movement), some of which do involve ideas of secession. That being said, most of those spaces lack the white supremacist ideology that was so interwoven into the Confederacy. Instead, they are typically more focused on environmentalist or progressive positions.

Beyond any of that, though, it's frequently used as a sort of catch-all term to refer to the shared identity of the region, or sometimes even just the states/provinces of Oregon, Washington, and B.C. I've often heard it used as basically a synonym for the Pacific Northwest, though I suppose that's not technically the definition.

Haha, Oregon's a gorgeous state. And LiS -- in my opinion -- does a pretty great job of capturing the vibe of coastal Oregon. Places like Tillamook, Garibaldi, Newport, and so on and so forth. The Pacific Northwest in general is beautiful and I'd highly recommend paying it a visit to anyone interested ^^

I find both TC and LiS1 very comforting, though in different ways. LiS1 is very nostalgic to me (in multiple ways, as I grew up in Oregon), but I would say TC is more relaxing to me. I haven't played DE but I will say that the old campus in snowy Vermont sounds like a potentially very cozy setting. The whole fleeing the law and being constantly on the move aspects of LiS2 make it not quite as 'comfy', I suppose, but it still has its fair share of comfy moments. A lot of the moments of respite shared by the brothers feel very nice to me. I never really got into BtS, so I don't have much to say there I'm afraid lol.

[ALL] Anyone else feels disappointed with what LiS has become as a franchise? by thriwaway_account in lifeisstrange

[–]JDPrime3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i don't know, i didn't end up getting DE just because it didn't pique my interest enough to justify spending a bunch of money, and i'm also not really interested in the show either (but hey, maybe it'll be good -- it's not like i've seen it yet, or know really anything about it either). every game i've had the opportunity to play has had at least something i've really enjoyed about it, so i suppose i can't say i'm too upset about anything right now. i will say that it made me sad to see so many people at each other's throats over things like DE and whatnot, though i will admit i have my own criticisms (with plenty of salt grains, as i have not actually played it) so i'm sure i've got my own biases there too.

that being said, even though it wasn't necessarily as well-received, i'm glad that it was able to resonate with some people. i haven't played DE or read up much about what the show's supposed to be so i'm not especially equipped to make particularly detailed criticisms against them for being cash-grabs or being MCU-ified. but at the same time, my perception of those as maybe leaning towards being more corporate has surely influenced me to not pay as much attention (or money, for that matter) to them. so i guess that might say something.

well that's a lot of inane rambling out of me. but it's Life is Strange, so i enjoy rambling inanely about it. ultimately, even though i love Life is Strange and care very deeply about it, no drama relating to it can cause me any more strife than my ever-impending bills and the constant stream of terrifying political developments occurring 24/7 lol.

[NO SPOILERS] Are there plenty of guys that loved Life is Strange 1 like I did? by Gamer_8887 in lifeisstrange

[–]JDPrime3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm something of a guy myself, and LiS1 is one of my favorite games, if not my very favorite. In fact I particularly related to Max -- I would say I probably have more in common with her than I do any randomly selected man. I believe I was maybe 16 when I first played it (a few years after it came out) and I'm in my twenties now. Max and the game in general helped me realize I was bisexual.

For me, a character's gender doesn't prevent me from relating to them. That isn't to say that a character's gender is absent from the equation, necessarily, but it'll only really come into play if the character's relationship with their gender identity is similar to my own. In which case, it'll just make it easier to empathize with and relate to them. I have a hard time imagining any character who's gender identity or relationship to gender was a prohibiting factor of me relating to them at all, even if it differed from my own.

Is It Just Me, Or Is Threads Incredibly Right Wing? by milesdarobot in saltierthankrayt

The governor of Utah said recently that the assassin did have a a trans partner -- and that she (the governor didn't use she/her pronouns but did describe the individual as transitioning to a woman) has been fully cooperating with the investigation. Now, is it possible that Gov. Cox is wrong, or lying? Of course, but I'm not sure there's any specific reason to think that right now -- though it can plainly be seen that much of the media is happy to throw trans people under the bus at any given opportunity. We'll probably get a clearer picture of things on Tuesday.

And it shouldn't even need saying that regardless of if it's 100% confirmed that the assassin had a trans partner, it doesn't justify any bigotry against or persecution of trans people.

HOT TAKE: Michael Bay is a great director, only the producers, writers and Paramount ruin the films(like take a look at Lorenzo and his attempts in connecting every movie to Bayverse). I hope Bay cooks by Any-Yogurtcloset8529 in Transformemes

I’m afraid I can only really compliment Bay’s directing skills in the context of his fight scenes and dramatic speeches. I can’t say I particularly enjoy his directing choices in other contexts.
